Possibly scenes from 1977 film by Jean Craggs of Ebberston who won a cine film camera on a raffle apparently I filmed various clips of Ryedale in North Yorkshire back in the 1970s.
This clip is of the yearly sheep sale held at the back of the year also know as the martmas sheep sale as well. I went round to see Phillip place who has named the folks he could recognise, in his younger days he was a market auctioneer who can be seen at work midway through this film please feel free to add anymore names in comment section along with a time stamp a description of what there wearing or doing please.
Part of the Craggs's collection

Used to go with my cousin to the sheep’s sales when I lived in Malton in the 70’s. Those characters and that way of life now long gone, as is the show ground with the old grandstands! Very nostalgic and lovely to see again. Thanks for posting.

I’ve come across some of Malton carnival, and pram racing along with some other stuff I’ll share when I get chance.

I think the year is 1977. A few more names to add - 3.05 Joe Wildsmith from Fadmoor in blue tie (also again at 7.48); 5.28 Ian Screeton auctioneer's clerk; 6.51Ian Metcalfe from Helmsley on right at back; 7.36 Keith Ward (Cundall's shepherd) with beard larking about; 9.23 Mike Harrison clerking for John Cundall; 10.06 in grey jacket is possibly a Southwell; 10.56 hands on hip could be Lorne Wilkinson from Kirkbymoorside; 11.51 drover in the grey coat is Tosh (that's the only name I ever knew);

5minutes, 48 seconds, I believe the man in the black jacket lifting hid stick is John Otterburn, dealer & cattle trucks owner of Mill Skut, Helmsley.
