My grandmother played Mrs. Manicotti in the late 50's and i have Gleason's autograph. My grandmother often did the mombo for us kids and did it all the way till she was 94. Miss you nanna, thanks for the good times. Your sonny boy.
Anthony Casola I had the pleasure of meeting Joyce Randolph at Sardis in nyc. She was truly a lovely lady. The they always addressed Jackie Gleason as mr. Gleason. It was a great experience
This was when men ordered women around like slaves. This was when women earned less than men. This was when women were verbally and physically abused and men got away with it. Oh yeah, good times for women. There was no reason for Ralph to come home barking and bellowing and ordering people out. He could have taken a nap before dinner.
You wanna hear something real funny? I discovered the Honeymooners when I was a teen. I'm fifty- three now, and I appreciate the show more than ever. Ahead of it's time you say? This show is STILL ahead of it's time. As for the quality in writing and performing, I could talk about it day and night!
There GREAT LOVE THEM REMEMBER SITTING IN FRONT OF OUR TV AND SEEING THEM EVERY DAY WHIT MY LOVING DAD AND I STILL DO LOVE THEM GOD BLESS FOR REPLYING THEM............
I actually do think it’s a blooper. I read it somewhere online. And when you think about it there’s no reason for Norton to enter at that time and stand there all that time without a single line
No. He did not walk into the scene too early. He needed to be there for when Alice stormed off into the other room for Gleason to make a smooth transition by turning his attention to him. Otherwise, it would have been awkward for him to enter right as Alice was leaving.
Everyone of the cast was perfect. It's still funny today. I watch it every night before going to bed so I can fall asleep happy. Interestingly,, at theend of every show he told her she was the greatest. The best sitcom ever!
AT 75 years old, I remember viewing JACKIE GLEASON'S the HONEYMOONERS for the first time on my family's little TV set, laughing myself silly; I now watch the shows again and again before bed time because laughter is always the best sleep medicine!!

That was veteran New York character actor Louis Sorin. He appeared in the Marx Brothers' 1930 film "Animal Crackers" as "Roscoe Chandler" (but Chico knew him when he was "Abie, the fish peddler"!). Jackie wanted to give Lou a break, and cast him in this episode.
With the amount of money Ralph made ( 62 a week) I am surprised they could buy food. Of course, everything costs less then too. Also, no car payment, car insurance, cheap med bills, etc.
"Carlos is teaching you the Mambo, That makes a world of difference" Couldn't be a cook or a chef so he could teach you how to cook"...............LOL "You want yo Wiggle"? "Wiggle over to the stove and get my supper." Tuna Fish! What am I a Cat or something?.............LOL He was funny as hell!
It's funny! I don't do the mumbo, Norton don't f o the mumbo, my grandmother don't do the mumbo,......... You'll call it quits for today, and tomorrow, and you'll call it quits for next week, Lol
All I know is that Alice was satisfied with me for 15 years. Now, she wants to change me. Well she's got a nerve, she's got a nerve. She knew when she married you she was getting the worst of it. You can say that again.
Jackie Gleason never rehearsed. The others did but he didn't. He said it spoiled his spontaneity. The creators of The Flintstones always said that Fred and Barney were a direct carry over from Ralph and Norton. Without The Honeymooners there would never have been The Flintstones.
Tito Rodriguez..the artist performing on the Mambo Album being used in this episode was a tremendous artist. He went on to have his own variety show of his own. His Mambo & Salsa recordings would receive world wide acclaim well into the 1970's.
The mambo was a big fad in the USA at this point. A bunch of novelty songs about the mambo were recorded, including one by Jayne Meadows (appearing here) and her sister Audrey: "The Hot Potato Mambo".
Now this country will let an abusive husband throw his wife in the gutter and take her children and move a slut in. Asshole cops came and threw me in the fucking gutter. Twelve years later I wake up every night and day terrified. Did you get a few bucks off of me you sick fucking motherfucking judges.
Your mombo day's are over🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!!! I forgot you were a woman, tip's his hat, 😁😁😁😁😁, now get my dinner!!!! Oh my God, it's hilarious!!!!!! I watch this every night, so much comedy, I'm in heaven🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!!!!!🥀🥀🥀🥀.. 2022......
We have to eat cold suppers. Love the way Jackie said that. And why we don't do it? Thinks a minute and then decides cause it's too much trouble. Well, not a bad answer.
Gleason at his best! The writers were sensational....after the first 39 episodes, the writers could not come up with the magic and Gleason felt the scripts were weak. He pulled the plug on the Honeymooners for the next 10 years or so. But those 39 are the very best in comedy and in my opinion #1 and watched over and over because they are just so entertaining.
Ohh, Carlos was teaching you to do the mambo. That puts a whole new light of everything! He was only teaching you to do the mambo. That makes a woorld of difference. EVERYBODY OUT!!!!! LMAO!!!!

Funny thing was the actor who played Carlos, Charles Korvin, had 2 left feet. Watch again: he could not dance at all. He got the part, then ran down to a dance studio for a week to learn. As you can see from this clip, he didn't learn much.
Korvin made a few pictures in Hollywood in the late 1940's- and was blacklisted in 1952 because he wouldn't testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee. People like Jackie helped him beat the blacklist by casting him in this episode.
@ Denis Huffstutler. They did rehearse for the episodes of "The Honeymooners" , but Jackie Gleason had someone else substitute for him in the rehearsals because he hated to rehearse because he thought that it took away some of the spontaneity from the actual performance. Gleason said that his substitute for the rehearsals was much funnier than him but that his substitute just couldn't be funny in front of the TV cameras.

Carlos was actually a Hungarian named Charles Korvin. When Julia Child was asked to name her favorite "amateur" chef, she replied, "Charles Korvin". He claimed to have been Greta Garbo's last dance partner.
@@lesaber251 cool but I was referring to the music played in the episode, the artists name is Tito Rodriguez from Puerto Rico, he was part of the Afro Caribbean big band movement of the time along with others like Tito Puente and Machito.

There actually was a "Claves For Mambo" by Tito Rodriguez. A portion of this number (albeit 2% goosed up in pitch) was played in this scene. It was even released as a single by Rodriguez' label of the time, RCA Victor (cat. #20-/47-6206, released 1955).
