Mamamoo concept of different universes shows the message of "whatever or wherever you are, you deserve to be blessed and acknowledged for what you do" No matter what you're doing in your life you should enjoy it and be confident ✨ Thank you Umu for your reaction! I always anticipate your Mamamoo videos bc you were someone who helped me get into them all those years ago 💚

In describing "HIP" Hye Jin stated: "It's about living a life where you don't care about how other people see you & it's a song about a life that's the most like you. Sincere 'hip' comes from the mindset of loving myself, so the song conveys the meaning of valuing yourself & living confidently rather than caring about what others think. The song is fun, but fun songs are always difficult at first for me. I wanted to express this fun song in a cool way. But composer Kim Do Hoon already made it in a cool way, so I liked that we were able to convey that vibe." Also, Yong revealed that for the 1st time, the group is wearing headsets rather than holding Mics when they perform. She said, "We're performing with headsets, & it was difficult to the point where I teared up. It was so hard that I wanted to quit during practice. This Choreography was created by the famous Lia Kim & she did a great job of making it. CEO Kim Do Hoon said, 'You can't do this with a hand mic. You have to wear a headset if you want to show everything.' I was worried at first, but I liked that we could show something new & different." In describing her strengths, Yong said " I think that we have different personalities, but each person knows what part fits them well on stage. Many people agree with that part, so I think it creates synergy. Many women say that our lyrics are refreshing & many people enjoy it." Byul: "We attempted this because it was our goal to show a different look." ============= Soompi asked them what they might be doing if they weren't part of MMM: Yong: "My original dream was to become a flight attendant. I realized that it didn't fit me. There was a stime when my mom wanted me to become a oriental medicine doctor." Hye Jin: "I'm not sure. I think I'd be somewhere living freely. After listening to Solar's answer, a sudden thought passed me by. My mom wanted me to become a monk." Whee: "I have liked to dance & draw since I was yong, so I think I might've danced." Byul: "I imagined this a lot. If I hadn't met the MMM members & were alone instead, I think I would've worked hard to prepare to become a police officer although I can't really imagine it. But I think I like this world better." ============== Also, Byul recently stated that in the future, she hopes to be CEO of an Entertainment Company & train singers while sitting in the CEO's Chair 1 day.

When you said something about the rhythm and how there’s so much to listen to… it reminded me of an interview where Hwasa said, regarding how they produce their songs, that they want you to hear something new every time you listen to the song again. That’s why their songs have so many layers to them. I thought that was a rather intriguing insight and you can tell that they absolutely achieve that goal.

It's a very interesting song. It has a relentless beat, but still feels light. One thing Mamamoo is really good at, is projecting confidence. You don't need that much volume, if you have content. Their tone is just so pleasing here, and everyone gets their moment to shine. The fact they are showing so much restraint here emphasises how they are in control here. We are getting only as much as they want to give. Love it.

I just wanted to say that I think it's totally fine if you weren't "as excited" last year and it's crazy if people were giving you negative feedback for it. The reason I liked watching your videos was the honesty with interpreting the music and the occasional criticism. I mean, I only like Mamamoo more with each comeback and probably am borderline obsessed with them. But everyone's free to their own interpretation. I think their music has definitely changed over the years and it's fair if you have different opinions depending on the song. Loved the video!!

Hey, I appreciate you wanting to articulate your opinions better in upcoming videos, but just remember that it's not your responsibility to be stoked about everything a group puts out. When you talked about how going to conservatory has changed the way you analyse music, it made a lot of sense. Don't feel bad if you're not at the same level of excitement as before - it doesn't make you any less of a fan. It simply means you're learning and growing in your own way. I love the Classical Musicians React series and hope you guys continue to point out aspects of music that I don't generally notice. As for butthurt haters who can't take any constructive criticism about their faves, go watch HIP again and this time read the lyrics. Let's not turn the Mamamoo fandom into a sea of fanatic vitriol like certain other fandoms have sadly become. Yall better let Umu express her opinion honestly. If she doesn't vibe with a comeback she doesn't vibe with it, end of story. She always does her best to give her criticism in a polite, informed way. If you feel she doesn't, you don't know all the factors that affected her reaction. Really good comments about the song being surprisingly smooth and slinky and gentle when you expected a hip hop diss track. I think that's because they wanted to convey a positive message rather than contribute to the hateful toxic side of the twitterverse. Musically they accomplish this by combining the fun and funky sense of humor of ska with hip hop. I think Aaron is correct about MMM - they're a unique, once in a generation group and people will be listening to their music for a long time. Recipe is a gem - the way they imitate muted trumpet with their voices cracks me up every time. I've been watching your MMM reactions since you were a high school kid so it was obvious that your musical taste changed when you got to college and started studying music theory intensely. Rather than Egotistic, starting with Paint Me it was clear that you were more interested in song structure, thematic development and composition than the emotional impact of their singing & rapping. It was like analyzing a stylistic change by Miles Davis and deciding that the newer stuff was boring compared to what he used to do, thereby missing out on the beauty of it. You were just being a music nerd. 😊

I support short hair Hwasa. SAME! I always enjoy hearing music through the classical musicians ears. You point out things I would not notice until you do. Then it's obvious. I've watched Hip so many times now.

This whole album is golden.

I paused the video before you actually started reacting to say that you really didn't need to apologize, what you explained about your ears changing makes total sense and that's the case in any discipline. For example if you start studying dance, you won't look at dances the same way and maybe you'll be more interested or impressed by things you didn't notice before or you won't be as interested in other things because you've evolved and discovered other things you like. So it's totally fine if you weren't as excited, it's just cool to see you honestly react to their comeback and genuienly share how you feel about it. You shouldn't HAVE TO feel a certain way, like if you're not as excited it's not your fault, it's just the way you feel and that's totally okay. Also there are so many reactors out there who are always hyped for comeback so don't worry, if anything it's refreshing to see that honest of a reaction. i love how even in the different universes and different versions of themselves, mamamoo are being progressive and/or breaking the norms. wheein advocating for climate change, hwasa addressing bodyshaming and slutshaming comments as the president, solar performing with drag queens, and moonbyul taking over mainly male-dominated careers (CEO, choreographer and director). it shows that regardless of what they choose to do with their lives, they want to make a change in the world.

I think that this is the type of song where the lyrics still "hit" if you are just looking at the translation, mainly because the words in English are the most relevant and the strongest ones, like REALLY STRONG in the chorus (examples, fashion, action) and the way they are outlined by the melody and by the rhytmic stress, AND OF COURSE THE WAY THEY SAY IT, THIS SONG FOR ME IS BASICALLY RHYTHM AND THEM SAYING WORDS IN A COOL WAY THAT REALLY FITS, which in a way is very "modern hiphop" if you know what I mean... I think the way they do the lyrics it's easily the best thing about the song, this is an amazing way to reach to the international fans... This song in a couple of words is basically rhythm with some strong motifs that make this smooth and stylish song about self positivity... Not too deep, but it makes an impact!

I see a lot of people don't know the whole thing of what went down with umu and moos last year so please read this long ass comment if you want to understand moos' point of view: Umu, as she said, became less hyped about Mamamoo last year and frankly, that's completely okay. We don't need ppl faking their reactions and freaking out. We understand that, but things went down during Egotistic release when she quite bluntly criticized the song and Mamamoo for being too poppy while praising big 3 groups that were super poppy and u could really see the double standard + when the issue came up on twitter she just called egotistic "generic" (and while enjoying other generic pop songs). Windflower reaction is still up so you can go watch and read the comments from moos and how they felt. During Gogobebe release reacttothek has brought the attention of all things - to the book club meeting... and criticized Mamamoo for portraying reading as smth boring and making fun of it which was completely irrelevant, far from the point and a big reach. That was just weird. The whole situation is way more complicated than just crazy fans bashing her for not gasping over a group... That being said, i'm glad the videos were deleted and i think we all can move on starting from now.
