"Sky sky" was another cf song, though instead of the usual pair of cosmic sound and cosmic girl, it was done by the producers behind most of gfriend's music, so it very much feels like a gfriend song instead of a mamamoo one. Because of this, many moos profess to dislike it and it is often considered the worst song in their discography But mamamoo themselves absolutely love the song and will sing it at the drop of a hat if anyone gets reminded of it. They do want to forget the mv exists, though, and that got referenced during hwasa's segment of a vcr they did for one of their concerts (vcrs in this case are videos played during concerts so the artists and dancers can change outfits and possibly get a short breather between sets. Just in case someone didn't know)
Mamamoo and red velvet are pretty close in general, even though we haven't gotten much interaction between the groups in years, partially because they're all kept so busy doing different things. Both groups still invite each other to their concerts, and byul and seulgi at least always manage to attend, even if others may not be able to The two groups got to know each other early on in their careers when they realized their vans were next to each other at a traffic light after an event they all did. Both groups forced their drivers to pull over so they could share numbers and then they started hanging out together drinking in the evenings they had nothing else going on, until 11 pm when rv had to scramble to get back to their dorm for curfew. Byul and seulgi talked about this and more in an episode of 'idol drama operation team', a show the two were on along with members of other girl groups. (The group here also created a song together for the show, titled "deep blue eyes") Byul and seulgi are especially close, and try to do things for/with each other as often as possible. This can sometimes be a bit confusing because byul's younger sister is also named seulgi, so if she doesn't specify, people can be unsure which seulgi she is talking about at any given time
Sleep in the Car, during filming for " 1cm" late in the night/ early morning. A tired Solar and Wheenin are joking about sleeping in the car between takes/and individual shots. This can actually be seen on an episode of MamamoTv ( its hilarious) Their bosses saw that and suggested they turn that into a song. Unfortunately there is no MV for it but there are many live performances of it to be enjoyed.
As for "midnight summer dream" i see someone else mentioned that it was based off a story from moonbyul, but nobody brought up why a horror type song is on a summer-themed album. Koreans tend to share ghost stories during the summer because they believe the chills from doing so counteract the heat of summer. Some of this is slowly being added to october, too, as halloween has gotten pretty popular there, esp in the last decade, though it is usually just considered for dressing up and partying

Midnight summer dream is about a nightmare in a hot night and not being sure if its a dream or reality. It's based on a experience Moonbyul had at her uncles house one night. Sky sky is an ad song for the mobile game Icarus M. It's the most innocent Mamamoo ever was. Sleep in the car has it's origin on MMMTV filming the mv of 1cm. Solar and Wheein were complaining about having to wait to go home until the last one is done (Moonbyul or Wheein) and having to get up way to early for the first one to shoot (Hwasa or Solar). Selfish is about doing what you want and being selfish and not doing what everyone else wants. Seulgi isn't the only one singing/performing it with Moonbyul, she even did it by herself. Afterwards she apologised to everyone who sang it with her because it's so high.
I find red moon so interesting because they described it as the passion phase in the relationship but I see more as them being passionate and knowing their worth, like ending a toxic relationship, believing more in themselves and not what others think, knowing what they want and don't want, and of course telling summer stories. I love it 🥰

totally different vibe than yellow flower for sure! a personal highlight for me is how they made sleep in the car such a banger, even with the goofy lyrics. all of their silly songs really hit you don't have to worry about seulgi yet... this mv is pretty cute... however once you get to the red velvet deep dive, i wish you good luck and a hell of a lot of warnings for her solo. byul and seulgi are actually really good friends, and byul took seulgi and oh my girl's hyojung on a "camping car trip" on her channel, its very adorable and worth the watch
What a ride, huh? Much like Sleep in the Car, which I saw several people already explained the story of. The live versions of that song are just... an incredible time, truly. Always a blast going through Mamamoo music with you, loved hearing your thoughts and theories as you went through it, and I'm excited to see what the special clips bring for this one (I could check the master list, but this time I'll keep it a surprise for myself I think lol). Just to add some context... its about how long they have to film their MV's... some have to wait longer, so they get to sleep in the car... but its not good for their skin because of their makeup.

Lol midsummer night dream is mainly moonbyul talking about crazed nightmares so their CEO told them to make it into a song, sort of a tease on moonbyul and Red Moon is her album. Plus telling ghost stories is common there as it is in most countries. Incidentally, Solar was the narrator for the late night ghost story TV show, season 2 I believe, this was years later but she makes a good story teller. i am thinking only mamamoo can make a creepy song lol. Egotistic is just a totally great song, impossible to not move to it. Rainy season is another of their slower R&B songs, I have a specific play list for these because they do songs like this on most albums. Sky Sky is a song made by the gFriends producers which is why it sounds so bubblegum and a common kpop beat but this is a commerical for a video game, Icarus M, yeah we all know when mamamoo does a commercial, they go all out, the video is corny but cute. Yes sleeping in a car make up on, Wheein and Solar mainly was joking about the insane workload and just sleeping in a car and yes they can all actually rap. For extra amusement look up videos of MC DDuk and MC DDak (aka Solar and Wheein) CEO Moonbyul. And the pikachu song, you have to watch it. Not only do we get a Solar and Wheein rap, we get moonbyul singing. There are also videos of part switching, Random live events or Solar's part switch videos on her channel. Selfish is great and live performance sometimes have a different singer or Solar doing it. (same with moonbyul's Shutdown feat Seori, live we get Solar doing that and considering the song is about the two having sex as moonbyul says, it is even hotter with Solar ). The MV with Seulgi is funny, especially the end with the dude in the car.
looks like there's plenty of explanations for how sleep in the car came to be, but i do wanna add the note that they performed it at a fanmeeting first. it wasn't a full song yet so they just did the main portion of it, playing around with it like they do at concerts, and so for a while that was the only place it existed. "sleep in the car studio version WHEN" was definitely a thing for a while lol so when they did the full version on this album (and promoted it alongside egotistic no less) we all lost our minds lmaoo i couldn't believe they actually made a full version for the album XD
A funny thing about "sleep in the car" is that it started because solar and wheein were complaining about their schedules and lack of sleep while they were filming the mv for "taller than you". That is shown in several of the mmmtv episodes, of course starting with the "taller than you" behind the scenes They actually performed a partial version of this song as a sort of intro portion to another song at an event years prior but i am drawing a blank on what song and event... i think it was a fan sign? Maybe?

Egotistic, my favorite title track. Sky sky is a catchy song and I have only seen the MV twice because it’s a strange one. It does feel like a song that would be from a more pop KPop group then a more R&B KPop group that Mamamoo is. But being as talented they are with vocals they can make that sound work too and not all KPop groups can make songs outside their style/concept work. I love that sleep in the car came about because of their complaints and we get rapper Solar and Wheein aka MCDak and MCDuk. While I love Selfish, I wish Byul’s solo for the album had been a true solo and not her collab with Seulgi.

They all have to get hair and make-up for filming m/vs but someone has to wait hours while the crew gets solo shots member by member. For quite a few videos the director had Wheein going last every time, leading to play resentment of her perspective in this song and the ABC line always going in the same order (not giving her any relief from waiting so long).
