Crazy that Moonbyul was told not to smile because she had wrinkles around her nose when she did. Crazy people... She has an adorable smile. All 4 are gorgeous just the way they are, and at the same time, I'll respect if they do want to have some procedure done, up to them.
the main message of yes i am is not about mamamoo bragging but it's empowering others to love their imperfections just as they love theirs (follow me). In the lyrics, they highligted their qualities that normal korean's are usually embarrassed of/hide. But they're literally saying, I LOVE MYSELF, flaws and all, so you should too.
You can find Eng subbed videos for their 2016 and 2017 Blue Dragon Award performances. As some of the guide vids mention, the Blue Dragon film award show was known as a bad gig for kpop groups back then. The actors paid little attention and seemed to look down on the idols - after all most of them were much older and probably didn't listen to much kpop. As is their habit, Mamamoo flipped the script (so to speak) and made it fun for everyone. When you get a chance watch the commentary vid they made about Yes I Am, one of the few times they went into detail to explain a song and MV. The MV concept was called "cute bluffing" in which they do various cute things and fail at them - Wheein with the silly confetti shower, Solar slipping off the treadmill, Moonbyul's hot car becoming a toy, etc. The point of course is that you're ok just as you are without trying to be something you're not just to fit in with the latest trend or supposed standard. Moonbyul later took the cute bluffing concept to another level I'd call swag bluffing in the MV for her solo song Selfish and Mamamoo later took the social commentary to another level in Hip. The commentary video also explains obscure lines like Hwasa's iconic "Me, me, 4 with the Sun," which ajyunais explained for you. Mamamoo likes to play with letter, number and word substitutions, as you'll see later in Gogobebe and Moonbyul's solo song G999. Listen to Yes I Am a few times and it will probably become a total earworm. I couldn't get it out of my head when it was released. I'd be doing a meditative qigong exercise in the morning and all of a sudden the rhythmic movement would morph into Yes I Am choreo and I'd be diddybopping around the room. Mamamoo has disrupted any notion I might have of acting my age. 🙄
@@SylverReacts YW. Acting how you feel is fine for music appreciation and it never bothered me that I was old enuf to be everyone's dad or granddad at kpop shows. But in another sense of the word eventually every ingenue has to stop acting Juliette and start learning the lines for Lady Macbeth. 😏 Imo Mamamoo+ is pushing that limit but we'll get to them in due time.

The lyrics "4 with the sun" if you translate to korean is sa rang hae which means "i love you", so in this case, "me, me 4 with the sun" actually means "me, me, i love you" or basically "i love me/myself" 👍🏻

fun fact: the outfits the members were towards the end of this mv was what they wore during the solo parts of their (first? ) concert.. from Moonbyul's blue/red suit, Solar's nighty(idk what it's called) Hwasa's beige one piece and to Wheein's black sparkling dress or shorts thing 😊
An absolute anthem rejecting rigid beauty standards for everyone not just idols, if you accept their invitation to follow them. Mamamoo is unequivocally rock n' roll even if they never touch a guitar. You get 1 guess what scene from the m/v has been my wallpaper for years.

Yes! Mamamoo incorporated famous movie lines into their performance so it makes it that much more enjoyable for the actresses and actors since it's a pleasant surprise and it has never been done before! I really loved their decalcomanie performance for the Blue Dragon Awards :) Yes I am is such a special song to me, it's always a pick-me-up whenever I'm feeling down or insecure.. I always remember the meaning behind the song and it gives me a little more confidence to live through the day :)
By the way, this performance is from the 2017 Blue Dragon awards, which was actually the second year for Mamamoo. (They were invited back from the 2016 performance, what a surprise.). Anyway, this audience was at least a little primed for Mamamoo to mess with them. It seems to me you can see some of the anticipation in the earlier views of the audience in this video. If you haven't, do try to check out the 2016 appearance (performing Decalcomanie), where the audience was genuinely startled by Mamamoo calling them out of their collective stupor. Also, you can find videos with more info about what is being said for both performances. In this performance, Mamamoo referenced specific scenes from various audience members' acting performances. In 2016, the adlib call outs are more just generally flirty. Cheers
One of my favourite songs of Mamamoo. Their dance is always fun and chaotic. It's like the chaos actually gels them better. That award show is actually for a film festival award ceremony which Mamamoo are the only group that gets invited to perform a lot of times, one the reason is their funny adlibs which they would name the stars or the films in a fun way. Decalcomanie performance was the most fun one. A lot of groups that go and perform at these film awards show will most of the time end up burying themselves but not Mamamoo. The crowd at these film award show are said to be a bunch of stuffy lot but the ladies will always break down that barrier. That's how cool Mamamoo is.
In Korea, there's this weird thing where people expect you to always look good in public. Like DON'T YOU DARE go out without dressing cool and without makeup on (this goes for guys too). People will literally judge you and say it's offensive to them if you don't look good. When Mamamoo is not working, you can see them wearing comfy clothes, messy buns, and without makeup (refer to the dance practice on this vid as an example) and people are actually offended by this (offended by them just existing). They would have comments like: "How can you go out like that when you're an idol?!?!" See how messed up that is? This is what mamamoo means when they say "im arrogant"--not necessarily glorifying being cocky/rude. It's a culture thing. Like, if you want to label me as arrogant for simply being me and not bending to your standard on how i should look/act/say/not say, then yes, I'm arrogant.
Yes I am❤❤I love the funky pop vibe it's so full of positive and confidence vibe❤❤and the album reach the TOP1 Billboard World Album Chart❤❤ when I needed confidence in high school whenever I got an exam this song helped me a lot❤❤and yes it is also one of the performances where they did adlibs for the actors but the first one who went viral was decalcomanie but it's not on RU-vid but Dailymotion❤❤
Man there should've been subs for the award show performance. It was so fun. They also performed Decalcomanie in the same award show, which also had fun adlibs.
Although, I think that as an outsider it is a bit difficult to get many of those adlibs. You’d need to know the movies they were doing those ad libs for.. but I think there was a guide explaining the movie scenes somewhere out there 🤔
