Title: "egotistic", promoted b side "sleep in the car" (no mv), moonbyul solo: "selfish" (mv, features her friend seulgi of red velvet) 'Blue's': autumn, blue, solar. Title: "wind flower", promoted b side "no more drwma" (no mv, but live from pikicast is often used as one), solar solo: "hello" (no mv, but her double pole dance on her youtube channel is often used as one) 'White wind': title: "gogo bebe", promoted b side: "waggy" (no mv), wheein solo: "25" "Wind flower" itself was filmed in hong kong and is basically a love letter to famous hk movie director wong karwei. All the scenes, outfits and locations reference one or more of his movies, with some being direct shot for shot takes of them (solar putting her head on byul's shoulder in the taxi is a prime example, being the promo image for his gay romance 'happy together') The color pallette used was also what he liked to use for his movies and the director went so far as to use the same style of cameras ad he did in the '90s and early 2000s

I hear you RJ! Mamamoo are grown-up sexy - it's not gratuitous or objectified, it's simply seeing these 4 women being self-assured and in full control of the concept they are portraying, each and every time, that is super attractive to us viewers 😍😍😍😍

On "starry night" It was filmed in new zealand and seriously, anywhere you pause the video would be a gorgeous wallpaper (There is hilarious behind the scenes of the trip/filming on their channel, a show calles mamamoo tv or mmmtv) It is a lot softer than nearly anyone expected, esp hearing most of their other title tracks both before and after, but these women always like to change things up and try new things. You'll never know what musical styles and genres to expect from them, yet everything still somehow feels 'mamamoo' (with one possible exception) An interesting thing with the choreo (that they created themselves) is they incorporated korean sign language for 'starry night' into it (wheein knows sign language, took it as her foreign language in high school. Hwasa took french. And they've both managed to use bits of these in their career) Also, you got the members right, after a bit on wheein (she and solar used to confuse me too). The particular picture you stopped at wasn't the case, but they oftrn stand in their 'standard' lineup of moonbyul-solar-wheein-hwasa Also, they're all actually short! One of their names they thought about debuting with was '160', since that is the average of their heightd, in centimeters (...another one was belly button). Wheein is the shortest at 159 cm, then hwasa at 160, solar at 161 and moonbyul the 'giant' at 162 (which she always points out is 162.8), so there is literally one centimeter of difference between each pair, which led to a lot of bickering and they actually worked into a song: "taller than you", also called "1 cm" or "pride of 1 cm". There are also comedi skits about this they performed at their four season concerts (each concert was 4+ hours long)

"Egotistic" was the red-hot title track forb their summer album mentioned in the "wind flower" segment. Each album focused on a season by doing an emotional theme often associated with it. In this case, an unexpected type of 'i'm done with you' breakup song with each member portraying that in her own way This mv and "gogo bebe" were both filmed in warehouse spaces while the other two were shot in gorgerous field locations Also, the fire was real (though extra was added in in post) while jaguar was not Double also, wheein's tattoos in the mv were not real, but she and two other members (moonbyul and hwasa) actually have a lot of tattoos... wheein has about 15 (two shared with hwasa, her best friend since middle school), moonbyul has 7-8, if i recall, hwasa has 6-7. The three really want to get a group tattoo together but won't do it without solar and won't try to force her to get one And solar only practiced on the pole for about an hour prior to shooting this mv, but she's done so much since... using it for her solo stage in their 2018 concerts ("despacito"), at their year end mama award show performance in 2018, several videos on solarsido, her yt channel, and even teaching a bit about it on a show called 'my little television'. It was actually suggested to her as a way to strengthen her back after she injured it in early 2018 and she never does anything halfway

Mamamoo is a different category altogether👏..They said forget cookie cutter image, We are women, hear us roar damn it!! All different from each other yet fit together like a glove. They've put so much heart and soul into their lyrics and just are truly themselves wherever they go. Self confidence personafide!! They are goofy and beautiful, who wouldn't want to hang out with them.? 😁 Part of their appeal for me is they seem/are very humble and sincere in spite of their fame,, Also that type of beauty can't be bought. I suggest to react to the “purple hawke” guide. Yea the last song is from hwasa. Be calm is a song that hwasa wrote because her aunt died in the autumn of that year (2018) in a car accident, she was so scared that she realized she didn't shine at that time. but then she realized that spring was coming and that the flowers can bloom even in the rain. That year was transformed and she had a lot of success, first with the collaboration with loco which in korea became a hit then with mama stage that shocked everyone. hwasa is very sensitive and this sensitivity was reflected in the Maria album, which was completely dedicated to herself and which was very successful. hwasa will be back solo this summer please wait for it

An added bit for "be calm" Since "starry night" was the first song in the project and all 4 albums had solo songs from the members on them, they wanted to add a snippet of hwasa's song at the end of the mv kind of like 'btw, this is the kind of stuff you're also getting in this project. Look forward to it'. It also let them use gorgeous footage from the mv shoot that otherwise would have been wasted "Be calm" is actually a pretty painful song for hwasa, despite it being all about healing (i have it in both my 'i need to cry' and 'feel uplifted' playlists. A lot of their solo work, esp hers and some of wheein's tend to fit into both at once). In this case, her uncle had died months prior and she was still trying to come to terms with that grief, so wrote a song about it. A more literal translation of the title is 'becoming numb', showing she was stll struggling with it (she's been known to break down while singing it live, as it brings back the emotions she felt losing him) The video itself was filmed by park woosang, psw, a renowned producer who used to work for rbw (until last year) and did a lot of mamamoo's music and solo stuff for them (esp hwasa). She found out he was learning videography on his own and convinced him to make a mv for "be calm". Afterwards, moonbyul got him to do one for "in my room" and later he did several for wheein over the space of a few years: the acoustic version of "easy", then "25" and i swear there's another i'm blanking on... Basically, all the girls loved his style and had him direct for some of their solo work despite him not being an official director. His stuff all has a kind of lonely, intimate feel which really works for the songs he filmed for (doesn't hurt that he composed/produced many of them and had long conversations about feelings and emotions related to them). Sadly, we never got any solar mvs directed by him, but i'm still holding out hope, even though he's no longer with their company (hwasa, for example, still uses him for her stuff, despite that) All the girls are quite close with and fond of pws, and him leaving their company won't stop that. Esp since wheein also left around the same time, signing with another agency as a soloist while still working with rbw as part of mamamoo

The thought that comes to mind is "diva" but only in the most positive way. They give off this energy. I will say that from what I can tell however they are just super nice girls that are genuinely themselves. They do this even if it is not widely accepted. Their talent is off the charts and these are some of my most favorite songs. Even if you don't love every song, you always love the vocals. FYI Hwasa has a solo song called I'm a B. I am not much of a girl group stan but I love Mamamoo

I love Mamamoo. Hwasa is iconic, she gives such a strong impression in each MV. Solar is both sexy and cute in a really chic and cheeky kind of way. Weein is a classic beauty and is just oozing elegance im every frame but she also has a cool side to her. And the moonbyul is just really fucking cool and really fun all the time. You should also check out their solo songs.

Omg I’m actually so happy you pointed out wheein’s beauty twice. First in egotistic and then in starry night. You may have done it in others too but I noticed in those. Starry night was the one that made people see wheein properly. Me included. The others stood out more. Solar with her more korean visual style beauty and voice, hwasa with her sexiness and moonbyul with her androgynous and voice. Wheein never really got comments from what I saw. Before this. And then in egotistic, the others also stand out a lot, especially hwasa and solar in that mv. But obviously moonbyul still has her rap part and that makes her stand out. Now wheein did look amazing in that mv but for me the way the fringe was cut wasn’t a look. She still looked amazing, a gorgeous whaman. I’m just so happy you pointed it out. I've really enjoyed your reactions to Mamamoo, both this one and your last. Your observations and comments are very insightful. They are indeed a very fun and great bunch of beautiful women that exudes such confidence that it just grabs your attention. Each member has such different personalities and colours in their vocals and styles but they just fit so well together. They are definitely not your typical girl group. They're known for their vocal strength and amazing stage performance. It's hard to ignore how beautiful each one of them are, and sadly, when they debuted, they were actually expected to fail because they were considered not up to Korean beauty standards for girl groups. Theirs is an underdog story that inspires and hence why many of their songs are about empowerment and about accepting who you are, not society's standards. As many of suggested, definitely recommend checking out the 2022 Introduction guide on Moo YT's Channel which has the most up-to-date info. Part 1 is a guide to the members, and part 2 is on the group's journey. There is another guide that many other know which is by Purple Hawke. Also good but a lot of the member info is dated or incomplete so definitely the 2022 on Moo YT's channel is the more recommended one. Looking forward to more Mamamoo content on your channel!

I am enjoying watching your Mamamoo journey. They are far and way my favorite group. I hope you continue on. Starry Night was filmed in New Zealand. Their song Star Wind Flower Sun was filmed at the same time. The four words represent the four members and it's a song written by Solar about how they feel about each other and their fans. Solar's solo song Where the Wind Rises and Oneus's A Song Written Easily are also filmed here. Windflower was filmed in Hong Kong and in part it is an homage to a famous Korean noir director. The color palette and many of the locations are from his films. The taxi scene is directly from a lesbian drama of his. As a Buffy fan I really appreciate Moonbyul wearing a Buffy t-shirt when they are dancing in the street. Fun reaction! I like your style & how you appreciate the lyrics, the meaning, & the aesthetics. You should definitely listen to Dingo’s Killing Voice with them. It really highlights their vocals. You mentioned Moonbyul & Hwasa a lot. Def check out their solo projects. Hwasa’a “I’m a B” or “Maria” or her feature with ONEWE (I can’t remember the title, but it’s excellent), or even the newer release she sings with PSY. Moonbyul has a newer single called “Loonatic” that’s amazing, though my fave is her song featuring Seulgi of Red Velvet “Selfish.” Really shows off her rapping, singing, style, & humor. But really you can’t go wrong with Mamamoo. Live stages especially. They have presence!

(Like gleam was for a glasses company) Both were fire... look forward to you finding the others. They all sound good as stand alone songs. Mamamoo have a few other empowerment songs, one of their best is 'yes i am' which i am sure you will get to. Windflower is an amazing song and MV. It was filmed in HongKong. It had a lot of scenes that were homages to a famous hongkong movie producer. Very creative to do that AND include visuals that are inline with the song. Their acting was great, portraying different aspects of breakups, but at the end being together is what helped them. Egotistic: My favorite comment i like to say about this MV is where Hwasa is staring down a leopard. I like to say that the Leopard was CGI because Hwasa is so fierce, they had to protect the leopard. Starry Night: Was filmed in NZ. I think many people have already pointed this out and mentioned the relevance 4s4c project. They did one other MV for NZ called 'Star wind Flower sun' (Moonstar(star), Wheein(wind), Hwasa(flower), Solar(sun) ) It is a song for the Moomoo's (mamamoo fandom name). There’s an MV for “be calm” by hwasa (the song at the end of “starry night” that you really liked). For mamamoo’s 4 seasons project, there was a set of 4 albums, each representing a different member and each member has a solo song on the album- “starry night” is from hwasa’s representative album and “be calm” is her solo. Aside from these solos, each member has pretty extensive solo projects not associated with mamamoo.

'Windflower' was shot/color graded in such a way as to evoke a 90's Hong Kong action/crime film aesthetic. It was also shot on location there. 'Starry Night' was filmed on location in New Zealand.

I know exactly what you are trying to say. Yes, the way they pose and with the outfits and everything combined can be seen as sexy and physically attractive in that way for sure. But just like myself, it's the way people hold and carry themselves with confidence and not ego (excuse the pun.) People just have a different glow when they feel confident within themselves and it's just so magnetic and alluring.

Nice to see a new moomoo forming. Mamamoo is up with the rest of the best ever groups, especially for vocal and performance talent. You have not seen the live shows and live performance videos. It is amazing they carry that vocal talent to the live stage. Everything is good, they had more retro and jazzy earlier but Solar's march 2022 solo album has a pure big band jazz song she wrote and composed herself. Solar is my bias so I recommend the live performance video of her entire Face album. All 4 of them released comebacks, Hwasa in December, Wheein and MoonByul in January. They do a lot of OSTs, in fact I wanna be myself is for a women's clothing commercial. If you have 4 hours, watch the 4 colors 4 seasons concert videos and get Mamamoo, solos, covers, some musicianship and comedy. Moonbyul, Wheein have youtubes started this year and Solar has been a youtuber for 4 years. Check hers out, incredible covers, solos, acapellas, more pole and other dancing and more.

Starry night made me bias wheein. The blonde short hair and her vocals in that song I was absolutely gone (My first bias was hwasa). My wrecker back then was wheein and moonbyul but now my bias is wheein and my wrecker is moonbyul. Weird how that happened. I still love hwasa obviously, I just was attacked too much by the others. But they all have different vibes and strengths so the strengths and vibes wheein and moonbyul have just attacked me the most lol. Oh you reacted to Wind Flower, just so you know there are many references to Asian movies in that MV (like Wong Kar Wai's Fallen Angels), but the most iconic one is the scene between Solar and Moonbyul in the taxi being a reference to the hong kong lgbt film ‘happy together’! Just thought I'd share :) (it's a direct reference to the movie's poster)
