Throttle Report Takes you up to Mammoth Mountain for our first Enduro session of the Summer! Dustin, Jared and Laz head up to Mammoth for some epic trail riding. All three boys are riding KTMs; Dustin on the EXC500, Jared an EXC350 and Trev on what is technically a SXF525!
Start off with one of our favorite trail rides in the world - the Gnar Trail - and blast through tight trees, fallen tree crossings and winding trails through the dense forest; this trail is a blast! The end of the trail leads you right out to the scenic loop heading back into Mammoth Lakes Town. If you road a dual sport bike, then this is an awesome little road ride back into town! If you didn't come out on a street legal bike, the Gnar Trail is also great in reverse, or there are plenty of other trails to choose to get back to wherever you started off.
After the scenic loop, we wound our way to the trailhead to Laurel Lakes. An amazing little glacial lake lies at the end of this seriously rocky Jeep trail. It's not at all difficult, but if you are a shorter rider, it can give you problems if you are a more beginner rider. We were not able to go to the very end of the trail today - you'll see why in the video - but even where we were brought to a halt, the view is incredible!
If you took the time to journey on a trail near the bottom of the final hill climb, there is a path to take you to the lake, or at least closer to it; you may have to hike to the very end!
Overall this is a ride you can easily do in one day, and even multiple times if you have the time, and energy! We will be up riding in Mammoth Mountain throughout the summer, so if you see us, don't be afraid to come say hi!
