I have Luba on three acres it easily takes care of it all. some sections I have it doing twice a week and I would say it's resting on its base 80% of the time still. I have had Luba out 750 ft from the base station no problem! tomorrow I'm just going to start driving it down the street and see how far it goes because I'm curious now 😂

Does the RTK need to be line-of-site to the mower at all times? I’m rural and only internet is via cell, no WiFi. Is that a deal breaker? I suppose I could get a hotspot device if really necessary. From where I would mount the RTK, my max distance to mower would be 700’. This is more less the center of my rectangular plot. The total lawn grass area to mow is about 3 ac. The rest is 2 large hay fields that wouldn’t be mowed by this device. I really like this one because I have steep hills and it has the best specs for that.

@@modquad18 Wi-Fi is very important part of luba If you don't have it you're going to have considerable difficulty. You can use a phone hotspot but you won't have any remote access to luba once it's out of Bluetooth range of your phone with no Wi-Fi. Also keep in mind the max size is 1.25 acres Luba will not map out more than that. That being said RTK does not need line of sight It only needs clear view of the sky I've had my mower 700 ft away from the RTK and it worked but my antenna is on the roof of the house. But not having a Wi-Fi connection is going to make your luba experience more difficult.
@realtoast7036
@realtoast7036 Год назад
@@modquad18 I'm in same situation. Rural. But I'm using Starlink and it's awesome. I did have to mess with the antenna placement. You want complete sky view. If your AC power is close to the house, it would be good to have the antenna mounted on an eave, with no tree or roof obstruction. With clear sky, it's not necessary to have line-of-sight. My Luba stays connected around the "O" shaped lot (meaning, lawn completely surrounds all side of the home).

Thanks guys, for the review. I have been struggling over the thoughts of purchasing a robotic mower. I hire a lawn service to care for my lawn. I'm not sure which has more stress: fighting the weather, heat and cost doing it myself -or depending on a business that is here one day and out of business the next season. I'm an IT man by trade and very I'm difficult and demanding when it comes to expecting the best from technology. I mean seriously! We're in 2023 and we still can't get a 100% robotic lawnmower. Yet, Space-X can return a rocket back to its landing pad! Thanks again for the great information.

Just brought Mammotion Luba to mow a remote (parents) garden, have been using Bosch Indego, whilst it is ok, have cut the perimeter wire on a few occasions and it stopping at a slightest bump and it's inability to restrict areas without wire has caused many issues. Great Video- I bought a Luba and I would point out that you can define any angle cut in 10deg increments. So diamond cut and everything in-between. Now I don't own a 450 EPOS but for me the 4WD was clutch. I have hills and ruts in my yard so I can say with confidence that it wouldn't do the job. Maybe their 435 might do the job but it is really expensive. Luba is out cutting right now for me.

I am very particular as to how my grass is cut, and would like to give you a couple of things to consider in future evaluations. My grass is tall fescue, and I mow it at 3". It thrives with this height and has never required aeration in the last ten years. Our house is on a corner lot with the sidewalk and street corner rounded, not squared at the intersection. I cut parallel to the sidewalk so the stripes follow the "bend" in the sidewalk at the corner. I use a Toro battery-powered walk-behind mower. Here are the things for you to consider: I always cut the edge first by walking along the walks with the left side of the mower on the walk and the right side on the grass. That way, when the blade first contacts the grass, it is pushing it back into the grass, not toward the sidewalk. This helps keep the grass upright along the sidewalk, not laying down on the walk. Can the mower be taught to cut along the walkways first as I do before cutting the rest of the yard? Secondly, you talked about these mowers handling hills. I cut along the side of the hill, not up and down the hill, as my path is parallel to the sidewalk. How well do these mowers perform staying on line in a hillside situation? I wish I could send you a picture to make this hillside clearer for you. Thank you.

To make a long story short, I have had a 450 ex auto mower for the past five years or so and have absolutely loved the mower itself. Unfortunately my boundary wire keeps being cut by rodents, construction, workers, cable companies, etc.. recently my cable company came out and installed brand, new fiber, chopped up the mower wire and destroyed the entire unit by leaving live wires exposed over the winter. They also spliced some of my broken boundary wire into some other cable lines. Can’t figure out why they would do that. I will be getting a brand new 450 XH epos mower installed tomorrow and I’m so excited to ditch the boundary wire. I will be making a full review video just like I made on my 450 X I’m also super excited to know I’ll be able to cut my grass at a higher height and not having to scalp it any longer there are little to no good reviews of the epos mower in a residential scenario so my video will be one of the first and I am purchasing my mower from autmow Just like I purchased my original mower from them. Hi, Excellent content! I have been trying to decide between the Luba 2 10000H and the Husqvarna Automower 450XH EPOS. Have about 1.8 mowable acres of mixed rye, bluegrass and fescue spotted with weeds. The property is a rectangle with three tiers with a gentle slop between each tier. Have a few gardens, maybe 30 evergreen trees, and eight Maples to mow around. Most of the trees are around the edge fo the property and line the driveway. My concerns: 1. The cut quality -- The Luba has 8 blades over a 15 inch swath whereas the Husqvarna has three blades over nine inches and they are somewhat covered by a safety disc. I would think the Luba would deliver a better cut based on blade density. Then again, the Luba is heavier and smashes some of the grass down before mowing. What has been peoples’ experience with cut quality? 2. Maneuverability - The Luba has four independently motored wheels. The Husky has two independently motored wheels and two coasters… Clearly the Luba is more cumbersome to turn around. I’d assume the Husky would maneuver better around the gardens and trees. Experiences? 3. Battery lifecycle -- The Luba weighs 44 pounds whereas the Husky is 30+. Logically pushing all the extra weigh should use more power and a softer lifetime. Spending this kind of $$, I’d like something that will last as long as possible. 4. Viability --- Husky has been around longer. Luba is relatively new. But, Luba’s products are getting good reviews… Anyway… Would appreciate your comments about the first three concerns.

For me, when considering new hi-tech products like this at these price points, warranty is a big deal. If there's no guarantee after a year or two, then the product is a lot less attractive. Who is going to be able to fix one of these things if it breaks in three years? If I spend $3-6K on a tool, I need it to last for 10+ years. It may very well last that long, but its hard to part with that much money for something that is still a gamble.

Interesting question! So there is a fairly minimal use of metals externally for both products. Mammotion's suspension arms are a cast aluminum and the front casters on Husqvarna are exposed metal. Outside of that, external screws and blades would be my next concern. All-in-all, I'd say the Husqvarna has fewer external metal components that would be of a concern.

We have ran a Luba at another house for a while now and we are happy with the results so far. Excited about Toro, can't wait to see what the final product looks like. 100% agree on Ambrogio. I believe they are bringing a wire free option to market so I'm keeping my eye out for that. Just recently saw the Ecoflow Blade videos that have been circulating. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Also have not seen one in person so take that with a grain of salt. Looks interesting though. Also, don't sleep on Kress. Finally got to see their mowers in action yesterday and I am impressed. Once they come into market full swing they will be a great option especially with their acreage coverage offerings and network RTK solution. I'm pretty brand agnostic and always try to choose the best mower for the particular job. Like I said, currently am running a 450 EPOS and am quite happy with it. @@AutmowRoboticMowingThanks for your detailed thoughts on this very new and not well known product category! You are the robot lawn mowing experts and I think you’re right that this and next year is the year of wireless robot lawn mowers. I think this market is somewhat like the robot vacuum market where there are a few top brands and many not so good brands. For example I have the roborock but I’m sure I would’ve been happy with a rhoomba or iRobot . I’ll probably get either of the 2 in your video, leaning towards the Luba. Do you feel the robot lawn market will be similar to the vacuum robots or is it more of a niche market? Oh and one really important question: About 7 years ago consumer reports took the available robots on the market and determined that the cut vs a full size lawn mower was pretty bad in that it chewed up the tops of the grass blades instead of a cleaner cut. Has the cut improved much?

Why do so many people love these Manmotion mowers, but the reviews on Amazon are mediocre at best? Is Manmotion going to issue a recall or send out parts to fix the IPX6 recall? That was a great selling point that ended up being hype. Neither mention how close to the side the blades go. Also, on the Luba, on your autmow site specs it says the Luba lowest cutting height is 1.2 inches, but this review said 0.9 inches. This has a 16 inch mowing width. How many inches does this typically overlap on the next pass? How about cutting speeds on various types of grass? I have Zoysia which is a dense turf type. Would you be required to mow slower? How would this effect the number of mows before replacing the blade? The Luba is a great product and I'll keep an eye on it for future upgrades. I'd like a future version that can mow lower. @AutmowRoboticMowing
@AutmowRoboticMowing 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for the question! The short answer is the wider cutting deck on the Luba is closer to the edge of the machine. That being said, I think the better response is that reducing necessary trimming does not end at the mower. Making adjustments to your lawn itself can make a huge impact on the amount of trimming necessary. There are a few ways to do this; Leveling mulch beds allows for full overlap, implementing some edge work near walls and obstacles like mulch, rock, or weed prevention from companies like bruckman rubber and others can help with edges and around poles. Reduce corners that are less than 90° by rounding out with landscaping. So the long answer from us is to use the time spent not mowing and see if there are opportunities to improve the lawn itself and adjust it to work alongside your robotic lawn mower for a better overall finish. I hope that helps some.

You guys covered almost everything. The only thing I wished you mentioned was how long does it run before needing to be charged and how long does it take to charge. What I'd also like to know is, is the battery permanently attached to the mower, or can you remove it? Although I don't like my Worx Landroid L, one thing I DO like about it is that you can remove the battery if it gets to the point where it's no longer holding a charge well. I grow turf type tall fescue grass, so I'd have to go with the Husqvarna tall cut version. Honestly, it likes being cut at 4", so 3.6" is already a tad low for it, especially when you get a number of 90F days in a row, or when you get a couple of weeks of no rain. But I LOVE the AWD of the Luba. If they'd sell a version that can cut at 4", I'd buy it today, even without the GPS security features.

Great question! The 550 runs for about 1-2 hours before needing a charge depending on complexity of terrain ie. slope, thickness of grass, that sort of thing. Charges in a little less time. We typically see a 2:1 run time to charge time ratio. Luba has been about the same in our testing. These are approximations and not manufacturer verified callouts. Just a little CYA on my end ;) -M

Hey, thanks for the question. Most models do not support multi-reference station installs. If and when they do, it's typically done to extend range for multiple units. That being said, if your single reference station and the mower have a relatively unobstructed view of the sky, an additional reference station should not be needed. Note: Both the mower and reference station need open sky view of the same satellites (co-viewing).

For this reason I’m considering Landroid Vision, which has a 30 day money-back guarantee. @AutmowRoboticMowing
@AutmowRoboticMowing 3 месяца назад
Interesting and good question! If you're unable to train the tree to toss them into the neighbor's lawn, then I think there are 2 factors to consider. Drive system and cutting system. The LUBA is AWD so should have very few problems maneuvering over sticks and impediments. The downfall for the LUBA will be that with a double disc system, sticks "could" become lodged. On the other hand, the EPOS is 2WD so may run into issues with getting hung up on larger sticks, but the single disc cutting system (+ metal skid plate) is less likely for sticks to become wedged. While I can see the concern, if the sticks are rather small, either model will likely experience few issues so other lawn factors (size, slope, overall terrain) should play a bigger role. I know it's not a "this is best," but I hope the context helps with your decision.

I love my Luba, but in the case that you do give feedback, 2 major features, validation of proper positioning when resuming the mowing after stopping because of bad positioning. Mine ends up in the neighbours lawn briefly but stops there when it realize its out of the working area or adding a feature to mark a zone safe tu return to work area automatically. And of course enhancing positioning with less satellites for the Luba itself, signal drops sometimes between 12-18, when it’s better above 20 as we know.

I bought the Blade. I'm mowing about 2.5 acres of rural lawn (somewhat rutty, with various tall and broad-leaf weeds amongst natural grass). The Blade is pretty impressive, super quiet, and does a beautiful cut. However, the omnidirectional front wheels are like a lint brush for small twigs and other debris where the horizontal rotation (smaller rollers) became non-functional pretty quick and need to be cleaned out with needle nose pliers. The back wheels' aggressive nobbies also collect dirt, leaves etc. and will spinout in soft areas, say, mole hills. In my small test runs I had to manually unstick the mower several times. Not ideal if I expect work to be done when I'm away. The lidar camera is very good, sometimes too good. The unit sometimes maneuvers around cuttable grass that stands a little taller than adjacent grass, as if it's a toy or obstruction, and it also seems to overthink the perimeter near a fence, stopping constantly to reassure itself to continue. I have not yet been able to get a complete mow for various technicalities, including spotty RTK connectivity. Customer service is prompt, responsive, and helpful, but I'm still not been able to use the thing as intended. It may be I'm not the ideal property for Blade. But if your lawn is a nice suburban carpet, like seen here, I would bet the Blade would be a good fit. I just bought the Luba. I'm hoping it proves to be a better fit for my property. I'll use them both as redundant workers.

Thanks for the question. Software limitations aside, I think the biggest concern I would have is the cut quality and long-term life of the mower. Asking it to do more than recommended means it may have difficulty keeping up with the growth rate of the lawn (charge & working cycles). In addition to that, you are adding a lot more wear and tear on it by perpetually running more often than it should and could reduce the overall lifespan of the mower. So, while the software will allow mapping of area(s) larger than 5000sqm, we do recommend not exceeding this for the best performance. Hope this helped, have a great day.

@@AutmowRoboticMowing I cut my lawn at 3.25 on my zero turn. I’m just worried that the Luba will cut too low, what are your thoughts?

Anything that will cut high enough for my TTTF?

For tall fescue you may want to get a high cut model Husqvarna. They will cut up to 3.6 inch. 550XH EPOS would be an example of this. -M

I mow 3 acres. Have another 5 at back of my property that I bush hog twice a year. I do mow a walkong path around the perimiter of the back 5 acres. Would the luba be able to mow that perimeter as well as my 2.5 to 3 acres?

Thanks for the question. Mowing different paths through large fields is something I think is under-utilized, especially with the new wireless products. In regard to your question, I think you might be pushing the product a bit far with that total area. One unit may not be able to keep up. I am assuming you are looking for a quality finish on the 3 acres and just maintenance on the path, but I would be concerned that if the path gets too overgrown, it may become too much for the product to get through. That said, you could always contact our sales team and they can map out the property and help confirm the total area.

Which one would you choose if given the choice?

It all depends on which mower is best for your yard. Both are very cabable.

How do you feel either of these units' GPS would handle large, mature shade trees? I would estimate I have shade covering about 25 to 30% of the yard. I also have a large old brick farmhouse with two outbuildings.

I have had pretty good results even with tree cover and buildings in the way. From my experience, the most important factor in success with EPOS is making sure that the reference station has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. -M

Forget connection coverage - what about twigs? My yard is wooded and even after a walkaround my Lawndroid has about a 1 in 12 chance of making it through a complete mowing cycle and back to the dock without getting stuck on something... pretty burnt on that, and despite all the technology improvements on Luba I hear similar complaints.

@@apieceofstring I've got the same problem with the landlord vision. haven't gotten it to mow the lawn on a full cycle once yet, but my yard was pre-cut and no obstacles or twigs, just grass. would the luba do better?
