"A man who works with his hands is a laborer. A man who works with his hands and his mind is a craftsman. But the man who works with his hands, mind, and heart is an artist." Beautiful!
X@kly. My whole life. Even now handicapped in my chair. Still manage to create everyday, invent new things, help others, and sharing my Music and Art to inspire others means the world to me. Inspire them, and their smiles will brighten your day continuously.
I would appreciate this man sitting in a large leather chair, in front of a fire, telling us stories and thoughts that come to his mind. What great energy mixed with a soothing voice.
Just love this man. The hobbit house is lovely and charming but the man that built is just as lovely, charming, imaginative, and entertaining. I could listen to him all day.
My dearest daughter, thanks for your appreciation. I was looking to include the photo where you came in your school uniform one afternoon and passed barrel staves up to me, to form the vaulted ceiling of this sma' building. Och, but I canna find it. Our black dog was in the photo too. Trust this finds you well.xxx Yr. dad.
"What's your name?" "Turnbull". "Trumbull?", "no, Turn-bull", "Turnbaugh?", "no, let me spell that for you, t, u, r, n, b, u, l, l". "Turnbo?", … and on it goes. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, and he was a wonderfully charming man with a heart of gold and a musical voice that inspired all who heard it. He loved to collect forgotten bits of beauty that others, whose vision could no longer perceive it, casually tossed away. He was a rather normal, rather mundane man, and appeared to not be particularly special - but the fiery magic of creation dwelt in his heart. It revealed itself in his songs, in the things he built with his hands, and in the love he gave to his family, friends, and community. His treasure was whimsey, his wealth measured in smiles & laughter - a horde no dragon could touch. He discovered the majesty in the mundane, and preserved the fabric of creation with the simple, small, everyday activities of life done well and worked in love.
2:49 HE FOUND ONE OF THE TEASPOONS BILBO LEFT TO LOBELIA SACKVILLE-BAGGINS!! IT'S ON THE SITE OF THE ORIGINAL BAG END!! WE'VE FOUND HOBBITON!! (just kidding of course, but what a neat coincidence)
This is one of my favorite buildings. And I was fortunate to spend time with Ian in 2003 when I was there for the semester...his work is all over Findhorn and it's magical.
What a lovely man! Should be more like him in the world! Truly inspirational! A beautiful, magical building and fantastic idea! Recycling at its very best! ❤🌈
I'm heading up there now hoping he'll be another grandad for me :D I could listen to this guy all day and learn so much. Seems like a really top man. How rare will it be too find a guy like this in 50-100 years with the way society is changing.
Yes it is a piece of art, this little house. I have been singing in there too and I am so grateful for the inspiration. We can all be artists. Just do something good and creative with the things or people that are around you. Don't follow a plan. Let life guide you. Creativity means uplifting the world with what is within you and around you.
Oh that last sentence gave me goosebumps because I had come to that very conclusion of you in my mind! Would love to see it in person sometime but excited by self built and sustainable building ideas! Thanks for sharing 🌸
Simply fantastic film about a great building. I’ve seen pictures of the building before, but learning the story of the guy who made it has brought a new dimension. Thank you!
Wow this is like when people build things out of palette wood but to the twentieth power. All the materials were either found or got cheap, and most of it recylced. Really inspiring.
what a wonderful, soft, kind and humble man! I could listen to him talk and explain things for hours. His voice and demeanour is so calming. I'm also surprised that I never thought about building anything with old whiskey barrel wood. What an amazing idea. The wood is beautifully aged...
Love the singing together...arm-in-arm...hugging one another... what a warmth of character he has... plant fruit trees everywhere and there'll be paradise... big hug from Cape Town...
SO AWESOME TO HEAR HIS STORY. reminds me of my father who built his house, even when he was paralyzed on his lower body , no wheel chair, no money and a young family. he crawled holding and pulling himself on a fence to visit his mother and father 2 houses down. he built it and it has endured multiple storms with little damage until MARIA hit the island. but it's back and all the love never crumbled.
I am planning to build a house into the mountain side on my 5 acre piece of land. This guy is incredible. I love him. Thank you for posting this amazing video.
@@Sunshine_Daydream222 I have done most of the digging. Little more dirt to move. But the structure is a ways out as of now. I will post updates on my channel.
😂Wow! AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE Earthling❣ AMAZINGLY Great VIDEO about him! That you were able to capture so INTIMATELY the AWESOMENESS, WISE Experience & Massive INTELLIGENCE of such an Incredibly PRECIOUS SOUL left me in AWE... Of how massive the talent of FLORB! BUT also How you continue to find these most PRECIOUS SOULS that Elevate the rest of us & provide HOPE for a too often cruel world. Thank you can Not begin to express the gratitude I have for this man & the Wonderful video you've made about him & so many others! 👏✌🙏Big LO💙VE
Wonderful place and the owner has a nice spirit..I am sure there are trolls and gnomes living around the property...lol...would be interesting to know what if any repairs or re-dos he has had to deal with over the years....
if someone asked me what house i want, im pulling this video up. I want to make a earthen home but was not completely sure what i was trying to image, but this house is exactly what i wish to one day make or have
He is so lovely!! ♥️ He's a sweet gentle soul who I bet is lovely to talk to and learn so many things. Such beautiful mind and a poetic and a warm and lovely voice. 🥺✨
Place looks lovely after all these years I remember my mornings with Ian. Barbara S Sheila P, Fabien Mo etc.. Digging the Sound Chamber in that sand....2005/6. glory be Salaam Shalom Ahimsa
Everyone else is saying it, but I have to as well. The house is nice, but damn does this man really kill it. A charming fellow on camera, and he just oozes a sense of passion that's really lovely to see.
Love it! Awesome! I'm one of those kind that would gladly trade a castle for a wood cottage in alignment with Earth and I would trade civilization for wilderness. I think I was wrongly born in the age of technology when in fact I wish I has nothing but a horse and freedom.
