That was an extremely sad movie, being left to live with all those memories and guilt is literal hell

He shape-shifted for that long and had to do it so many times his body count must be thousands

This looks stressful. Doesn’t sound fun being this kid of shapeshifter

This is probably what the genie would turn me into if I wish for immortality.

Sooooo….if he had just let the rot take over after he accidentally killed his mom, then wouldn’t he have just cocooned and turned back into his real self? Seems like he could have avoided killing a lot of innocent people that way.

At the end, he turned into his true self. He shouldn't try to escape that process which he thought was rotting in a first place.

Just like Morph said on the X-Men cartoon, whenever he got in trouble he just went to school as the principal.

I love how all actors that played as the shape shifter had to be the same person while being different people in real life

Imagine if his son was also a shapeshifter. Theory, the reason he died was because he shapeshifted into another person by mistake. Living his old dead. Basically inherited "power"

This was mournful and raw. Maybe none of us really know who we truly are, or what we will eventually become. Memories are heavy things indeed.

A random kid: "dad left to get milk and he hasn't come back since" Fact: "he's not your dad, he's a shape shifter"

Max is still his friends amidst everything....and he recognizes him....it's amazing the unconditional love animals have🥰

how did he go so many years before the movie began with nobody talking about the murders though? surely this would be a common thing before the movie even takes place?

So in short, this whole time he had the power to transform into those he touches for a only a short period of time but because he never let himself go through the full process of his ability he never knew the full extent? Damn, countless deaths do no reason

he lived and killed his whole life out of fear. if he had just let the rot happen years before he would have aged and lived normally

I like how the rot arrives quickly which creates urgency to kill and shape-shift. Be a pretty dang stressful existence though.

Amazing how the possessed body didn't know he had kids but know where his regular dining place and bar are.

So basically if he stopped taking over other people's bodies he would return to his true form and that would stop countless deaths

So basically... He can shapeshift into whoever he wants..he has a limited time with each identity..and in the end, he assumed if he didn't shift he would die...but It wasn't death he was feeling, it was just his original form trying to come back... And he stole forms SO LONG, he didn't recognize himself because he had become an old man.. and he started as a kid.. sheesh😬.. talk about growing up fast🤓

if that mutant-power was real, I suggest he "take-over" all the terrorists and criminals one after another, so the bad people would be lessened

Very sad. SO basically, his power is to take the appearance and memories of the people he use his power on, which the first was his mom by mistake. But it only last so long and the duration was getting shorter and shorter with the years like the effect of a drug on an addict. The rot is just the turning back process that allow him to retrieve his appearance. But after so many years of shifting, in the end, the person he become which is him, is nobody, because he never lived as this person. So now what will he do ? Continue to live in the prism of others by lying on who he is, or try to be himself and make a living of his own ? I think that is the real question the film ask. Be yourself, or you will never be anybody

I am not entirely sure if this film is attempting to show the perils of hook-up culture, or cherishing the life that a person has.

this post came up on my youtube feed… less than a minute in & I was hooked & decided to watch the movie… wow, great story & a great recap, thank you.

Actually somewhat ironic how the Shapeshifter was looking for the same kind of unconditional and pure love his mother gave him while being totally oblivious to the fact that the dog Max recognizes him in every form, every single time and loves him unconditionally.

I feel like the deeper meaning of this story is, that we‘re often unhappy with our life, and wish to be someone else. The only thing he needed to do, was being himself in the first place. He hurt himself and all the people around him.

Each shapeshifting should last 10 years at least. This guy is shapeshifting before shitting, that's hell.

I think we can all agree Robert is too cool to be alive. Suspicious.

This kind of like the series called The Outsider but that character had more powers apart from shape shifting.

My interpretation is that this 'shapeshifter' is representative of a toxic mentality. The people we 'take over' are the people we hurt, either intentionally or by accident. We constantly change ourselves to be what someone else wants, rather than who we are, all to work our way into their life. Only at the end, when we 'break the cycle' as it were do we become our actual self, filled with the regret and memory of all the lives we corrupted along the way.

So he killed all those people for nothing

Maybe their son didn't die but just shapeshifted into another person. Since he was just 3, he could've just not known his adress and was put to a mental hospital as an adult with a mind of a 3 year old.

An interesting plot and the way the story was told.

A shape shifters that kill is a doppleganger and monster.

Great way to budget a movie with no one single main actor or actress to pay big bucks, but a nightmare for casting and production.

Strange, that he didn’t take the memories of a biologist and try to figure out the hows and whys of his body.

Interesting movie production-wise: It had no main character. In different sections of the movie a different actor/actress was the main lead and had to immerse themselves into that one role. How interesting and challenging. It's also probably the reason why there isn't a household name actor in this movie; Those usually hog all the attention and at the same time are easier to market (easier to promote a movie by having 1 main actor travel around the world and give interviews). In this movie however, you have 6-7 actors playing the main role. Interesting, different, unpopular approach.

This was wild! I’ve never actually sat down and watch an entire video ad the voice over tends to make me cringe! But for me, this sounds like an everyday life thing, it’s like you come here as a baby and you’re given a life, you choose how to live it, and then you die. But you get to come back as someone else until you complete whatever you’re here to do!

This is a very unique story and a sad one with a hanging ending. I wonder if this was his version of hell. That said, I wonder how you decide movies to recap.

Could be considered commentary on a number of things, like growing older, hiding the weakness that creeps up, lying to others and self to keep "living." It also reflects the cannibalistic society we live in, those who use others then dispose of them when they are done with them
