For me, if the breaches are true they need to be relegated. So that the PL and FA set a standard for all clubs especially for Newcastle and Chelsea's new owners and man united and Liverpool potential new owners. So they don't get away with a simple 10m fine or points deduction
I can't remember who said it, but I once heard someone say 'if the only punishment is a fine, then that isn't illegal' referring to the fact that certain people simply will pay the fine and learn nothing, as it makes no difference to their lives. I don't agree with the idea of stripping titles, but relegation and fines to pay back all TV and champions league income that was made should be the minimum, if it bankrupts the club then the real fans can do a Wimbledon and build it back from the bottom
@@brandonayong5823 and that FA Cup too, he deserves both of them. Remember he did say that finishing 2nd with that team was the best thing he could have done.
Yes, people are making too big a deal of this. UEFA tried to do something similar just a couple of years ago, virtually nothing was changed. Why should we expect this to be any different?
@@philipglover3295 City probably pay a lot to UEFA, also, football as we knew it died with the Chealsea takeover by Roman Abramovich (probably butchered his last name)
PL wants to avoid major scandals, but they also have to punish MC if they are guilty. They will probably give them a big fine and tell them not to do it again. I doubt major sanctions like relegation will happen. Maybe 10 point deduction at the worst
Pep acting like it would be an outrage that city would do this and that he would be so shocked he would leave is hilarious. It's like going to psg and being shocked when they have financial problems
@@brandonayong5823 They've assured him it's true and he trusts them. He might have seen things or heard explanations we haven't. It makes sense for him to think like that and he said if anything they said was a lie, he leaves.
@@classonbread5757 He has been their manager since before 2018. He broke some rules but he was OK with that. If you are willing to gamble in a team with uncertainty in finances, be ready to be hit with a scandal.
He stayed at Villa in the Championship for 3 seasons to get them promoted, then stayed another 2 seasons in the Prem, which he could have left at any time, securing a new 5 year deal which then put a minimum release clause in that no one thought would be met so that protected his club from being robbed by a club in top 6. before going to Man City when they agreed to pay what was thought to be a ridiculous amount for a footballer. He could have left for Tottenham when they got relegated for peanuts but Tottenham's owner was far too much of a cheap bastard and wouldn't pay what Villa were asking. To then be sold 4-5 seasons later for £100M. So staying with a club for another 5 seasons, securing a record breaking amount of money for his club....yeah i'd say that would be considered pretty loyal. I am guessing you are referring to the Ireland-England switch. He always was and always would be too good for Ireland, so him switching to England, the place of his birth and the place of his parent's births (only qualifying for Ireland through a grandmother) was the right thing to do and it nearly got him a European cup for his troubles.
I think that's how they want to retcon the ending in the new Snow show. He'll probably just wake up after being killed by the night's watch thinking "what a shite dream" lol.
-20 points at the start of season for 9 years. They won't really win the league and will be mid table team, not qualifying for UEFA competitions at all.
@@relentless1989 sadly stripping titles can open a Pandora’s box. So many teams would have a shout of taking legal action for prize money lost it would create such a legal headache.
@@SubhamChowdhury97 They'll probably be 5th to 7th place with such a deficit of 20 points on some of the stronger seasons. You'd need to hit them with a -30 to assure mid-table mediocrity with the sovereign wealth being flung around.
Personally I think a 9 year transfer ban or a lower transfer cap for 9 years is the only fair option here, if they’ve overspent for 9 years then they can equal it for 9 more years
That's not a punishment though. That's just letting them rebalance it. Fuck em. Null and void their trophies, immediate relegation and an enforced transfer ban. Otherwise its not a deterrent.
Just imagine them getting a forced relegation to the Championship , would be hillarious to see the best paid players in the world enter Luton town's ground trough someone's backyard (if Luton doesn't go to the prem at least ) 😂😂😂
Agree with you, Irish Guy... but... this would send a huge message to other clubs that they need to be careful or they could have a decade of achievements voided. Also, remember Wikipedia can always asterisk the titles, etc. Either way, either Pep and players will keep their titles officially but will be known to all to "morally" not have won them, or, will be stripped of them but will still be remembered to have been awarded them before being stripped.
The fact that City and Liverpool are seemingly on the backwards--and Arsenal and United are seemingly back with a vengeance---feels like football gods resetting the cycle. Like...football history. Kinda like Messi winning the world cup. Sure it took time, but everyone knew it was going to happen at some point.
@@fifty-five6929 what he was saying was exactly what Michael was saying. How did it take em that long to realise? Look at the players they signed in 2008 and compare it to the amount of stars they ended up signing. They should of launched an investigation in 2011 or 2012, it shouldn't of took that long to notice. The best person to listen to about this is Mark Goldbridge, his analysis was excellent
I think the most fair outcome would be: 1. €100 mil fine. 2. 2 Year Transfer Ban. 3. Either Religation or 20 points deduction for the next 2 years. It's too harsh on the players and Manager to be punished for the clubs actions.
😀Because its Man City they should get away with it but other teams have been relegated for far less. Manager is the one who spent all the money on transfers along with the owners so its both club and manager
relegation (to the national league), european ban for a decade once they eventually reach the top flight, transfer ban for 5 years, a fine for 80% of their total revenue, all trophies stripped. You cannot be too harsh on this "club"
So for me as a City fan my opinion is that I think maybe a stricter control from the League as to who can own a club ect. I do think the premier league are also at fault as you made a very valid point about the 100mil bid for Kaka should have been flagged there and then. I do think there should be a punishment for the owners if it is found to be true but the club itself the fanbase the players they havent done anything so it would be vastly unjust to punish them. However the memories which have come from the owners such as 93:20 will always live on as you cant take that away from a fan .
Fines, Titles Stripped, Relegation, Expulsion, Games behind closed doors, European FA EFL Cup bans, Transfer Bans and Point Deduction are all the possible penalties for this but the premier league should not go hardcore but at the same time should set a standard. I’d say Point deduction, Fines, Games behind closed doors and maybe a 1-2 transfer window ban but even that’s drastic
If the premier league does take away Manchester City’s premier league’s then the should award the players involved winners medals and let both Manchester United and Liverpool lift the premier league trophy it’s only fair
The owners cheating , not their players. If their titles got stripped, still cant give the titles to the runner up. As the players who reach the team to runner up STILL DON'T DESERVE THE TITLES. the best solution is NO CHAMPIONS IN THAT SEASON.
Totally, literally city destroyed many careers, Gerrard will be a world legend, rooney 2011-12 will be Goated, Liverpool would have won the domestic trebel, solskjaer would be a premier league winning coach
@@horacioelconserjeopina3956 They actually wouldn't have one any more trophies. They committed FFP wage fraud which means they hiding wages and were using different clubs owned by the City group to pay a Man City worker because they were being limited by the FFP rules Man city took on too much wages too quickly and hid it from UEFA an the English FA
I feel a video comparing what was going on at Portsmouth and their dodgy owners back in their Premier League plus the subsequent points deductions and the Man City debacle right now is needed. The Premier League allowing both clubs to be run the way they were at the same time needs to be talked about. Plus you’ve talked positive of Portsmouth in the past. Would love you to look into it and if it could be an indicator of Man City’s punishment
As a Bournemouth supporter, I agree that the titles shouldn't be stripped. That's not fair to the fans. However, they should be relegated as the automatic 20th place team with the owners of the team banned. With how good the team is, they'd probably be back after one season in the Championship. That way, the owners are punished, but the fans are allowed to have their memories remain in tact. Additionally, FIFA should probably issue a penalty to the PL for allowing this to happen as long as it did. Let's not pretend that the PL is innocent here. They could have stopped this long ago. So, the executives of FIFA should be punished too.
I agree, retroactively changing a decade of football isn't a good idea. However, they absolutely must get punishments from now on, point deduction, relegation, transfer bans or whatever.
I do not mind having them get relegated, their current players can simply leave. But you can’t remove their trophies, nobody is gonna celebrate getting a title given to them for a season 9 years ago. It’s not fair to the past players, they still put in the effort to win those titles. But relegating the current squad is fine as they could just move on and keep their careers going
As a united Fan, when Auguro scored that goal and won City the league, I went out drowning my sorrow and met my future wife. If they take away City's titles do I get to download tinder and pretend my wife didn't happen
Personally I do not think the clubs league history will be deleted. even if their is massive point deductions or relegations, the history will remain in tact. Personally a fine for the owners, a big point deduction and transfer embargo would work. They have the players to still compete even with an embargo so that would be fair
Relegation and a transfer ban for the amount of years this was going on for would be a good enough punishment, stripping titles no, maybe an asterisk next to it, it's the owners and higher-ups faults, not the players, manager and fans.
It could be years before we get a final decision. And the Premier League doesn't have a good reputation when it comes to punishing their own, as we saw with West Ham. Even if they come down hard and City get relegated it won't matter that much as long as the owners want to stay. Look at Rangers. Or Juventus. They'll be back in no time. Rather than relegating City, I'd prefer the PL sack the owners under the fit and proper persons rule. Because they can't be found guilty without them also failing that test.
Its disgraceful the cheaters should be punished. Liverpool lost the league twice by 1 point against a team that were financially doping, a team that bought world class player after world class player by committing fraud, they should have never had those players in the first players. Look at Liverpool this season, and of recent times, practically ran to the ground trying to keep up with cheats, no wonder most of their players get injured so often. Man City can't get away with this, they have to be given a massive point deduction, stripped of their titles and relegated. A message has to be sent. I know it sucks for the fans but it also sucks for the fans of rival teams who have been robbed of titles. At the end of the day sporting integrity has to be upheld and cheaters deserve the worst punishment.
As an Arsenal fan, a points reduction would make our potential title win tainted forever and I do not want that over what should be a monumental moment for our football club. Sanction then after this season.
As an american who just started watching football 10 years ago, I would hate to to see their titles taken away because they have been a big part of the sport since I have been watching. I can understand a big point deduction or relegation, but they are a big part of the history of the 2010s
So what? They pay another fine and get 20 points deducted, win the league in 2 seasons, and laugh about a slap on the wrist they got 2 seasons prior? If proven guilty*
I agree to punish the players, fans and wind back history (especially when all the top clubs must have done similar) is ridiculous, it's the owners and agents that should be punished... And fix the system so smaller, less financial clubs have a chance...
This is why I love Newcastle. Notice Newcastle are careful with their signings. Not City and Chelsea, Liverpool are next at this rate. And I'm a Juventus fan, you can tell when the rot will set in
Dude you must be new to this.. City didn't buy all the greats and win the Leauge the first year.. Talk to me in 5 and we will see how reasonable Newcastle is
@@Ciaran5 it happens to almost every big club, everyone goes through a financial scandal and Klopp's recent big spending will put Liverpool on the scope, you'll see
@@mullaoslo yes but atleast Newcastle kept most of the team, they didn't even sign 10 players since the takeover, City tried to remodel every part of their first team
I don't know much about all these allegations but I have to say , City have been a dominant force in England in recent years and have also provided us with some pretty amazing Premier League stories(e.g the Aguero moment) Stripping them of all they've won in the last 15 years would be absolutely atrocious for the players , Pep and the city fans(yes...we actually exist) who had absolutely nothing to do with this... Erasing this much history would be a colossal disaster for the PL as they'd just be overcompensating for having the wool pulled over their eyes for 15 years... I'd take a points deduction or a relegation(nothing new to us) if found guilty The truth is that at our core...we are a small club that was extremely excited to get a very big break. It's sad that the Abu Dhabi group is nowhere near the firing line while the club may end up suffering because of what they did
What about the players and coaches on other teams such as Liverpool or united who have been robbed out of titles because of cheating. Even if they aren’t stripped of titles everyone will know they weren’t fairly won which gives them a massive asterisk which is probably the equivalent of them being stripped
People keep saying they want City to be relegated "like Juventus", but this was due to the Calciopoli scandal, not because of the same breaches City are being accused of. Juventus, along with the other clubs involved, were relegated, docked points and had their titles stripped following allegations primarily related to match fixing. This is not the same and it's therefore not a precedent. I do however think City should be punished accordingly if found guilty and certainly made an example of. What this will look like no one knows, and I'm not hopeful it will bring any meaningful punishment
Transfer ban or not, points deduction or not, relegation or not, I just fucking hate the idea of stripping previously won titles so I hope that doesn't happen.
I wouldn’t strip the titles, they’d have an asterisk next to them forever, especially for the smaller clubs you want a trophy to be special not just given to you, a lengthy transfer ban I’m talking 5+ years and relegation, saracens in the premiership we’re done for something similar and we’re relegated
You still have to compensate for all the clubs who have been knocked off of failed to square City, considering their rise was one big illegal mess that should have been sorted out. It’s hard on the fans, but the club needs sanctions, as it’s the project of the owners after all. Don’t give the club any punishment and just put the owners away? You’re allowing a history built by crime
Idk man 2 premier leagues for liverpool that were 1 point away do seem like they were winnable if mancity didn’t have the money for the team they assembled even if it were one world class defender less
I’m not a Man City fan so I would love to see them be stripped of all their trophies… BUT Aren’t the charges from 2009 to 2018? Doesn’t that mean that every trophy that City won from 2019 onwards is ‘legitimate’?
Every major team plays fast a loose with the rules, not just City, the premier league are just after fine money, Can see a 30 million in fines and a transfer ban for a season.
No, no he hasn't, City cheating doesn't mean the 2nd place team automatically wins, of they didn't cheat it changed the league for every team. If they take the titles then they have to leave it as no one won
Forget About The titles getting stripped and Relegation Imagine Teams That got relegated Due to this Never to recover like QPR or Huddersfield Stripping the titles won't bring them back
If they’re found guilty, they need to tell the owners to sell, not punishing the fans or players or Guardiola for these charges. The PL should tell the owners to sell the club
If City do get relegated I imagine a handful of players would stay, some of the ageing players would move on and some players like Haaland would be sent out on loan for a season. Relegation wouldn't be the end, they would bounce right back up and puck up where they left of... mostly anyway.
Anyone surprised by this hasn't been paying attention. The only reason they dodged the UEFA ban a few years back was a technicality on statute of limitation rules that the PL doesn't have. Personally I'd say -20 points every season a violation took place with final standings, trophies etc. re-allocated. Also relegation to league one and prohibited from promotion for 3 years (i.e. minimum 5 seasons before they can get back to the PL). The EFL and FA should also consider vacating their cup wins for the same seasons (if applicable). Basically make it hurt so much that no one else would even consider doing it again...
I at least want to see them treated the same as rangers were in 2012. I know it's a separate situation, but still it is still fair for bending rules for 9 years
What I want for Man City: - I would want the owners to be banned from EPL and across the U.K. for life. - Relegate them automatically to League Two. - Fine them billions of pounds and then give them to lower leagues as compensation for the harsh treatment they’ve had during COVID by the FA. - Ban them from continental football for a decade. - Monitor their owners, club staff, and finances for the next 50 years. - Titles striped and given to 2nd place and runners up in cup competitions What will happen: - FA: ‘oh there’s a £2,500 fine and a slap on the wrists. Now carry on ruining the game’
I think stripping past wins is ridiculous and will do nothing. If everything is true then I would expect to see domestic cup bans, a fine, and probably transfer bans. Idk if relegation is the answer or not. You have to do something though because FFP slap on the wrists just don't matter. Also, I think this video could have been better and not so focused on stripping past wins tbh.
Apparently the EFL doesn't even need to accept Man City if they get relegated, which means they can still have a league rival in Trafford as they take on Altrincham, which would be ridiculous if it happened. I do think City have to be relegated. You can't let something like this go unpunished by the club, particularly not when it lasted 10 years. But the owners need massive consequences, probably some sort of funding for grass roots football (or something similar) at the very least. A call needs to be made before the season ends too. It wouldn't be right to jump teams with a surprise promotion (or cancelled relegation), so what's happening needs to be known.
They have to be stripped of stuff. For example, if you think they didn’t have enough money to buy KDB and Aguero. Think about how many goals and assist they have made to help City to glory. It is what it is and don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. Also if you just fine them and give them a transfer ban it will not stop others from doing it. The prem needed to gain enough evidence to build a case unlike UEFA who messed up when they tried to stop City.
If they really got this information from a hacker leaking information then I don’t they’ll be able to use it in a court of law. At least in the United States this would not be allowed.
What a lot of rubbish arguments. City’s heap of trophies were only possible because they cheated massively. You advocate justice for the City fans, but what about justice for fans of the other clubs?
Saying the City fans are more hard done by than ALL the other clubs, players, coaches, and fans who have been cheated for over a decade is a baffling take
Memes of City only being founded in 2008 and only had fans in their preteens aside, the older City fans really are victims in this. They thought they got the jackpot, the fairytale they wanted only to be stripped away after 15 years. The loyal fans from either side are not at fault from this fiasco. It is indeed the FA and the Premier League who are at fault for this, plus the kids online claiming to be City fans.
@@CassiopeiaOnYT if i constantly cheat on my tests then end up getting caught afterwards its the teachers fault for me cheating? thats what you are saying
@@lol-bg4wh wrong analogy, PL hsd clearly let this go on for so long becuase they wanted the funds into the PL. It is very likely because of UEFA FFP that surfaced that pressured the PL to even open an eye to look what the shady finances Sheikh has been doing for years. If you want the teacher and student analogy, basically the teachers let that student for years until an inspector notices it and the teachers are thus forced to confront the cheating they let loose for so long.
@@CassiopeiaOnYT sure I agree with that(going forward with the student teacher analogy) but once caught their results would not be counted after all what about the other kids...offcourse the ranking should change accordingly.
@@aakarshmj7256 Yeah the ranking should be changed, but it does not take away from how the players who played football on the pitch are shafted because of it.
What’s really embarrassing about this video is the Irish guy defending Manchester City just because he doesn’t want to see former premier league legends have their legacies tarnished 🤦♂️
That's a oversimplification of his points, I mean he genuinely has a point. The EPL let this happen, you can't blame someone taking advantage of the system when the system has just allowed them to do it for over 9 years. They are worth billions now, legitimately any club in the world would've done what City had done given the chance, I'm tired of the "big six" and their fans acting innocent and absolutely flabbergasted by it, it's disgraceful from Man City but absolutely disgraceful for the EPL who let it happen for so long.
So Liverpool are begging. No one is begging but if you lost say a million pounds in a competition to someone who cheated then you would want justice for that and want that money to be given to you as you would have won it fairly if it were not for cheating. However I don't think if the titles are striped it should be handed to second place just voided that title or if not stripped have Astrix next to each title to with the explanation of how this was won unfairly won. So it will tarnish the teams reputation. Another option could be the whole team must be sold and for the next 10 years City can only rely on the youth team and are relegated to the Championship.
Well done 👏 You've just made a video of the reasons Man City should be "destroyed" as you put it. The fact that player's and manager's wages were not fully disclosed means they helped try and get around FFP. Not giving full information in an investigation, the list goes on and on. Tell you what, let's give Lance Armstrong his Tour de France medals back because the doping happened in the past! Whatever way you look at it, they tried to get around the system and got caught. You called out premiership for letting it happen. If Man City falsified their books, then how could they have stopped it. The only people in this scenario I feel sorry for are the fans.
The city owners need to be punished with something more than just a fine, because to the city owners, paying a couple of million pounds in fines is the equivalent of buying hacks in a video game. It also won't discourage the same sort of behaviour from other owners like Chelsea and Newcastle owners who could do the same thing. What needs to happen is that they need to be relegated, have stricter spending rules than the other teams in the division and have their board members barred from directing clubs for 15 years along with a fine to the owners. But they really shouldn't loose their titles over this.
Stripping of titles will be very harsh .Very Harsh on City players and fans. Fans should not be punished. Ideal punishment would be ban them from European competitions for 2 seasons or deduct 20 points from City in 2023-24 season or relegate to the Championship. That would be accurate.
Lad when city were spending a team called Bury FC we’re getting dissolved I think we just want to see City deservedly punished and the money to go back into the lower leagues of football that’s all we want no point in fifa setting FFP rules if they don’t adhere to them
This is why having multi-billion dollar businessmen from the UAE run an English football team is a bad idea… It just causes the team that gets a cash boost to dominate and gives nobody else a chance to win anything. For me, a football team should be run the way the fans see fit. And that’s how it always should be. Football should not be all about money, it should be about playing a game we all love and putting on a show worth remembering. But all the same, I don’t want anything bad to happen to City. After all, I’ll miss those Manchester derbies, when City clash with my favourite team of Man United. But I also can’t deny the allegations that City face. If they do get relegated to the Championship. It will be a great shame, and a chilling reminder of what financial doping can do to a team if it’s pushed too far. As for my unbiased opinion: From what I’ve seen. Over 100 alleged violations of FFP rules is a serious matter. I counted 113 for goodness sake’s! I’d say that with the number of violations is too great to ignore and it’s only fair that City should be relegated (much like Juventus in 2006) but do I think they should be stripped of their titles? For me, I’m not too sure… I know Olympic athletes got stripped of medals when they got caught doping/cheating, but how does an entire football league deal with something as serious as this?
If proven guilty the club has to be severely punished because they have taken deserved success away from other teams. But I agree that the owners must get expelled out from the club and the league and should never be allowed to own any club at least in the country.
I don’t feel one iota of sympathy for that club if they ended up found guilty of financial cheating Maybe players, coaches, everyone would think twice before joining a sports washing project It would be the absolute retribution for the utter farce that the PL has become
When Leeds City were making illegal payments they got wound up. So the same should be done here. It's a precedent. And they should be forced to then let Haaland go to Leeds on a free and pay his wages for the rest of his career. It's only fair..
