How is that respect when they suspected all along ? Secrets !! They knew and stayed hushed all these years, I would have confronted them about it! *PERIOD*
This has me in tears. I just found out we have a sibling, and it is just mind-blowing. Both my parents are gone, one just this past February. I am so happy Jamie found his family. Secrets are kept for all sorts of reasons and in our case, it was likewise. We do not know until we are in it how emotional and conflicted, we feel but we also have instant love.
I found out about my sibling in my 30's. I never told anyone in my family I knew about her. 22 years later I found her. My dad got to spend about 5 years with her in his life before he died at 92....my other sister and I are pretty close to her and I have another nephew because of her.
Times change. When he was born, his mum had reasons which were huge to her at the time, even if they are unimportant now. Accept that was how it was, and be thankful for how it is now.

@@RelativeRace_BYUtvI cant watch the show (don’t live in the US) but what exactly happened for them all to suspect they were family but not knowing for sure?
I’m glad he was able to find out they are related. Keeping secrets can be harmful. I’m sure the granny wanted to say something for yrs. What if he needed a kidney and granny was the only match. He could have lost his life over everyone keeping secrets.
Back then, NOT keeping a secret like that, especially if one wasn’t absolutely sure, could cause a great deal more harm than keeping the secret could ever cause.
Jaime, your family & especially your sweet som Jansen are a treasure. I am so happy for you all. God bless & l send you much love from Canada. Enjoy eachother, such a wonderful story.🙏🏡❤️🙏
I ask for prayers to have this kind of reuion for my Grandsons! Please God open my daughter & son in law's hearts and share your children with me and your Dad. Her Dad has cancer, please come home and spend time with him before its too late. 🙏
I am happy for them! But, something is missing regarding the parents. My question is since they (aunt & grandmother) knew a very long time: Was he a child birth from an affair? & Is that the reason they stayed quiet about it?
Yes, I have not seen the show. But his mother did not even tell her parents who his father was. When he was three she was killed by two cars that were racing. So the show l guess did a DNA test and put it together for him.
The aunt said she just found out once this all started. The grandma said she suspected it but wasn’t sure. Sounds more like it was two young people who were together and the girl got pregnant and didn’t disclose who the father was. So of course if she’s pregnant you’re going to assume the boy she’s been with could be the father but she could have also been dealing with someone else at the same time.
I dont know now I would feel some kinda way if they knew all this time saw me grow up own a store ,have a son and never even said a word !! Even if they suspected they should have said something ..i hate secret like this 😡Stolen years for no reason!!

I would have told him my suspicions and asked if he would do a DNA test. And I don’t understand mom’s who do not tell their parents who the father is. He was too young to understand, and she was killed when he was three.
A word of advice: If you simply make up your mind you're going to be the happiest never-married person on the planet, you're more likely to find you husband. It's what I did in early 1994, when I was 37. Within a year, I met the nicest, most wonderful man I've ever known. Thirty years on, I'm 68, and he's 80. I'm more and more becoming his caretaker. And I'm even crazier about him now than I was 30 years ago.
I don't understand how you can live near and see your relatives for years and NOT KNOW they were you aunt and grandmother. How could you not know? Makes not sense to me. They didn't explain the gap in communication in the family. How did this misconnection happen?
I found out that my uncle was really my half brother. The Catholic Church fudged the birth certificate, and put my grandmothers name on the birth certificate. It blew my mind! They lied to him and me for over 30 years.
I don't understand how could they have known, seen them but couldn't say anything? Not sure I could do that unless it brought them some danger. Story is peculiar. The telling is in what caused the seperation in the first place.

Their family was all so close if I remember correctly one of their grade school teachers is related to them as well! Just so crazy how everybody has always been right there with each other!

This is why I don’t understand the Zac/Ben/Jen Affleck situation…. Mormons like that know their lineage back to the wagons bc they love to be pompous about it and act like it makes them better than other LDS.
That is right. This is a TV show called Relative Race where teams go on a journey to find their biological family members. They get to meet a family member every day for 9 days.

This family,iIcant help feeling, are such cruel people! How can you know and NEVER tell? Never made an effort to make sure? Never tried to give him the right to his name?!

And because many of these situations arise from either forbidden or unwise relationships (don’t know about cause of this situation), ppl don’t want to hurt or expose others, perhaps ending marriages and causing other kinds of hurtfulness. The real answer, of course, is following God’s laws respecting those matters, rather than secretiveness. Yet, the attitude of the “son” was positive and grateful, rather than negative, and that’s what real love does. As he concluded and I’ve long said, ‘Ya just have more to love and love you.’! 😊
