Butte County sheriff’s investigators say a camper called from Bidwell Marina Campground at Lake Oroville at 5 a.m. on July 3rd reporting a man had been injured. Officials found 20-year-old Tyler Dickson of San Pablo dead inside a tent.
Maybe there’s info you aren’t aware of that the police are, and the police tell the reporters what info to relay. So instead of getting mad at the news, it would be more appropriate to blame the police department.

Tyler was one of the most kind and caring people I have ever known. It had been years since we’d last seen each other but he had always been a great friend to me and was loved by those around him. I hope whoever is responsible for his death is punished to the full extent of the law. Rest In Peace Tyler, you will be dearly missed.

Having lived in Oroville from '73 to '89 and visiting this site many of times before; camping out there had always been safe and fun. Such killings like this in Oroville were relatively non-existent, accept for a very well-know case involving Perry 'Red' Warthan. However, there have been a few killings in Oroville over the years, but none like this that I am aware of; though, this type of killing is incredibly rare there. I have to assume this is due to the changing times, which is very unfortunate for Oroville.
@@ericunderwood8080 I was six in '73; honestly, in all the years living there, I never heard of any killings, other than Red Warthan's. But again, I was young, and perhaps a bit oblivious. Compared to L.A.; where I now live, Oroville is (or was) far better. Throughout my teens; starting as early as 13 yrs old, I would often fish overnight at the 'Catwalk' off Cherokee Rd, along the lower Feather River, After Bay, the Rock Piles, and at the lake, even camping up Hwy 70 along the river for days on end... that's how safe it was for us (my best friends) back then; never once imagining we'd be victimized.

Apparently the wildlife area out by hwy 70 was a dumping ground and graves...so I've heard...I live here and just fish a lot now...moving out for awhile...but yeah that was the statistic for a couple years maybe almost a decade....I love camping at the lake ...been doing it all my life... just saying...take care of yourself! I'm from LA ...born and raised in Downey....weve switched! Still like to fish .. wanna know some good tips for fishing the piers down there like Huntington or Redondo...My Aunt Shirley used to own that Mexican restaurant on Huntoon St...Casa Vieja...I now live in her house...what a trip...Where I grew up in Downey right by Pico Rivera... always a shoot out or stabbings....be careful
This sounds like maybe a gang hit. Its not a lunatic shooting up a camp site. Pertty smart hit if you think about it. Not very many cameras. 4th of July, so no one will really question a gun shot. Thats why I think they are saying no one is in danger. The dude was a target it wasn't random. Something tells me this was well thought out and they're probably not going to find the person or person's who did this.
I’ll tell you something, many people become missing around Oroville, and the locals ( hill people) talk about it big time and don’t have a problem with trouble makers disappearing .

RIP......just read about a married couple shot while camping....A while ago I talked to a couple who did parts of the Appalachian Trail...pass.by a guy going up the trail, exchanged a bit of pleasantries but the guy had a weird vibe..Set up camp,etc..went to sleep but were very nervous,They took turns watching out, fell asleep about 3 The Guy sets up his "camp" up the trail a ways..probably talking to himself , That they were friendly..Falls asleep immediately, wakes up at 3am ish.....Now it's a Gollum like convo with hisself, how they're just like the others.......

Oh I wonder if they will take the killer out and destroy them like they did the bear that INNOCENTLY killed a camper. Bet they will get to live. In a jail cell somewhere. Humans.....someone purposely kills someone and we pay to feed and house them till they day, "It's the human thing to do." Camper camps in bear country with zero bear knowledge and gets killed by bear. Humans hunt the bear down and destroy it. Makes zero sense to me. Save the bear and destroy the human is what my compassionate mind says.
If it's isolated, that means they know exactly why guy died. Almost sounds like there wouldn't be much to talk about if they just said what really happend .
Logic would point out 2 obvious points of this story. 1 someone was somewhere they did not belong. 2 The shooter had previous interactions with the victim. Be careful who you piss off , everone has different ways of copping with feeling angry. Basic scycology 101
