Of all the alien invasion movies I've watched, Man of Steel's version is the most realistic, and that is what makes it terrifying.

I said the same thing, in my head the dceu batman movie takes place 6 months prior to the event of man of steel and there's a timejump at the end where we see bruce working on a case on his computer and then the zod message appears "you are not alone"

I never even knew that was the Martian Manhunter. I never really knew anything about the character until after I watched the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Thanks for pointing that out. All this time, I thought no other DC character outside of Superman stuff appeared or was even referenced in this film. I think this was a pretty cool hiding.

if you think about it, the video looked like it'd had been taken with their tech. Like they have this 3d grey goo that takes the shape of anything so it makes sense it's black and white and kinda 3d, like it's was hacked into our tech. Also it's broadcasted in every language which makes sense too, because intergalactic, space-bending engine builder, etc.

That’s what I’m thinking! What if ‘General Swanwick’ thought Zod was referring to him for a moment there. Since he too has chosen to keep his existence a secret from everyone and has made efforts to blend in on earth etc (Until Zod mentioned Kal-El of course)

I just thought of something. What if ''General Swanwick'' was thinking Zod was referring to him for a moment there. Giving that J'onn J'onzz too, has chosen to keep his existence a secret from everyone and has made efforts to blend in on earth etc (Until Zod mentioned Kal-El of course)

I dont think so, Zod mentions one of “his citizens” and that he comes from “a world far from yours” Manhunter would have known Zod and prepared for him if he was from Mars. Wich is pretty close to Earth of course. Also “The General” has been on Earth long before the fall of Krypton and has taken multiple forms. It is likely however that he already knew who Zod was, and until now has been unaware of Kryptonian presence on earth, since at the end of the day Kal-El was blended in pretty well. It could be why he is so dedicated to properly testing Superman with his cover intact, because he knows what a Kryptonian on earth would be able to do.

General Zod holding the world ransom for Clark being bought to him? Is this the same movie people clowned on back in the day, myself included? Because that's actually a pretty solid concept with a genuinely spine-chilling visual for the ransom message. I mean sure, Clark kills Zod, but... It's peanuts compared to the badly written brooding edgy fanfiction that would follow (Batman v Superman, which I proudly sold and consider the worst movie starring either character) and I'm pretty sure Snyder was held back thankfully by producer Nolan and writer Goyer meaning he could only indulge in his "Superheroes should kill" belief at the end.
