MAN OVERBOARD !! BOAT IGNORES DANGEROUS CONDITIONS AT BOCA INLET !! | HAULOVER INLET | WAVY BOATS
Stormy conditions this week at both Boca Inlet and Haulover Inlet. Winds were hitting at 17mph - 20mph from the NE. Some boats were still up for the challenge and attempted to transit through the dangerous inlet. Man overboard and possibly a new "Vertical Legend". Enjoy the video!

Anytime I have someone onboard my boat who is unfamiliar gets a briefing on what to do if something happens to me. Reduce power, circle around, get a throwable to me with a rope on it, put the ladder down and put it in neutral when I am close to the motor. In the troph going with the waves at the same speed works well. Going against, power through. Keep the nose up, but not so high that you get stood up. Best strategy is AVOIDANCE.

@@jimcarlson1858 Yes sir, I agree. I was a USAF Special Ops pilot for many years. When we did our planning for an op or a hit, it took days. One of those days (a full day) was dedicated to exactly that. In fact, the name of the planning session was called “what ifs.” It was a full day dedicated to any scenario that any of the crews in the op/hit could dream up in their minds and how we would handle it or mitigate the threats or risks. We used to say that Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. You don’t wait until you’re thirsty to dig the well and you don’t wait until you’re in the 💩 to try to formulate and explain the unbriefed plan. I like the way you think!

Well it isn’t going full throttle head on! To be honest those conditions are too dangerous but if you had to get out aim 15 degrees with an equivalent 15 degree opposite lock to arc through big waves will mean you won’t go vertical or worse.

Scarab did great? He made a poor decision going out in those conditions and compounded without PFD’s. Sent his boat vertical lucky he didn’t damage or lose his power when the boat landed vertical. Nice job on the way in.

I understand why it's compulsory to where I lifejacket when going out through a bar ( inlet)here in Australia. Our voluntery marine rescue service is made up of just that. VOLUNTEERS. Who should not have to rescue people who are in trouble because of poor decisions and thoughtless actions.

I'm a life long boater in SE Florida. I have owned the exact boat in the first clip, the Scarab Sport for nearly 10 years from 2002 until 2011.(hence my user name) and I have been in conditions worse than that. Coming back from the Bahamas battling that and worse for 4 hours. It is a seaworthy boat if you know how to handle it. This guy did the best he could with this boat in these conditions. I ran mine back from the Bahamas in 10-12 foot seas....no bullshit....my buddy and I were ready to die. But I kept calm and worked the throttles and helm with precision and we got home after 4 hours of having our asses kicked with no damage to the boat.
