years ago, when I owned my house, my neighbour next door had a tree in his backyard cut down. It was feet from my garage. The company DROVE their truck up my drive, HIT my garage, were climbing on top of my garage, dropped branches on it, all before I found out. They offered me $100 for my damages. The police were called, charges included tresspassing, and damaging private property. I have told companies like that to move. I pulled up my driveway, went in the house and when I came back out there was a company vehicle for a gas line parked in my driveway. He wasn't in his vehicle and way off down the road. I told him to move because he was blocking other vehicles from pulling up as we're a house full of people. It was perfect timing too, cause not even 5 minutes after I told him to move a family member was pulling up the driveway.

I've been a tree trimmer for 35 years and I'm glad you went after that company. You don't encroach on a neighbor's property without permission. I've had Mulberry, Pine, Oak, and Gum cut down in my yard, and they were all done the same way - a small bit at a time. They work their way up removing the limbs, then work their way down removing sections of the trunk no more than 4 feet long. The video demonstrates that the business in question is far too incompetent to be cutting trees down and the owner should be banned from having a business license.

Good for you! I agree! Back in 2009, I had an alley tree that needed a trim. I hired a company that pulled something very similar. They came and butchered the tree. And, I'm not talking butchered, they BUTCHERED my alley tree. It had to be cut down. Not only that but they even were careless. Tree limbs dislodged the gas main from the meter. And, then they promised to replace the tree. Three months later, no tree and the company took my money and told me to have a nice day instead. Yeah! I had a nice day alright! I had a nice day in court! I talked to an attorney. And, sued the fire out that tree company. I even put them on the 10 o clock news and Facebook. That tree company no longer exists. I looked them up. They went out of business.

Lots of problems here with cutting down a large front yard tree at the base in a residential neighborhood. The tree can block the street which is unlawful in most localities unless they have prior permission to do so. The tree can rip out power lines, taking out electricity for a large amount of the neighborhood. The worst that can happen is a pedestrian loses their life if the crash landing area isn't sufficiently coned off.

I'm not a trained arborist, but when I had to take down 2 similar sized trees on my property, I took them down in several stages starting at the top and working my way down. I dropped the main trunk within a foot of where I wanted it to drop and kept all the wood (cherry) for myself. It was sad to take them down, but the roots were undermining the footings of the rear of my home.
@Rondogardener
@Rondogardener Год назад
I am an amateur logger, but even I know that anytime a tree is in a confined area, you must first lop off the top side branches. I could not do that because a "cherry picker" is needed. Then the main trunk must be notched on the side of the tree where you want it to fall. Make the felling cut on the opposite side and follow behind the chain blade with a steel wedge as the cut deepens, and have someone keep tapping the wedge carefully as the saw cuts into the wood so that there are no mistakes. If there is any error developing, add a second wedge to redirect the fall slightly. I absolutely would never attempt this cut though because, without professional equipment, you can never be 100% correct. I have not missed yet, but my confined tree-cutting days are over.

Ive dealt with handymen and contractors since forever and one thing they have is in common is the absolute incapability of quality work. Everybody thinks they can be more or less anything without any real proper training and effort. How difficult can it really be to cut a tree or put on a roof right? My boss showed me, now I know. And then the boss leaves often and leaves his workers unattended to continue working and you can be sure the mistakes will be plentyful and will not be fixed unless very big or you ask. This spring a tree guy did this with my trees,boss left and left his workers who didnt know sh1t to ruin all my trees who look now like from a horror movie. A good professional and technical person to work on your house is about as easy to find as winning the lottery. Be it plumber or a roofer, unless you watch over their work 24/7 youll end up with a bunch of issues latter to fix, issues they will maybe come back once to repair and then start ignoring you despite being their fault.

You can request the neighbor who hired the shady company to put it through their home insurance if they have it. If the company is licensed and bonded you can go directly to the company who issued the bond to file a claim. If they let the bond lapse so there is no coverage you can sue both the neighbor and the company for costs. At the end of the day the neighbor is responsible for the people they hire and damages they cause. Why people should ONLY hire licensed people that have insurance so if damage is caused there is an avenue for recovery. If you choose to hire an unlicensed or hire someone licensed but has a bad rating , you can be sued.

He had been working on 100-200ft trees his entire life, was on a job with him the last time where it would literally take 10 people with their arms outstretched to get around the trunk it made the rest of the trees around it look dwarfed for miles, was literally 15 ft from the front step of this guys house and probably would've pancaked it with ease not to mention how much damage roots can do to the foundation of a home.
