I'm in the same field, naturally I also agree with this HOA rule as well. It would be nice to see this rule implemented in a state with stricter gun control, this neighborhood is in Texas, so we could still be dealing with some work safety issues even with the removal of these unnecessary garage doors.

@Kaleela Edwards some don't allow you to leave them open. This case is specifically because they suspect folks are letting others use the garage as living space.
You willingly sign a contract to "own" a house there. If you're that stupid then you deserve those rules. Never, ever, ever buy into a HOA unless you like being told what to do.
@@matthewwade4196I understand, yet we also live in a society where we understand that a person’s rights and responsibilities do not end at a gate. HOAs need to be regulated and a system in place for addressing grievances. Either that or the government will outlaw them, altogether.
@@mrhowell6842 You literally sign a contract agreeing to abide by any rule created by the HOA in order to purchase the property within their private development. There already is a system in place to fight against your HOA through their own CC&Rs, running for positions on the Board, and finally through the Stirling Act. If you do not wish to have to abide by the HOA's rules, then do not purchase a property within a HOA or reside in one as a tenant. The government is not going to get rid of HOAs. Nope, that’s called a co-op, where one only owns a percentage of the entire property and doesn’t actually own the unit they reside in. I live in a condo community, I own my unit, have the deed and can sell it. Luckily our HOA is pretty good and responsible. They are a little too quick to fine people without adhering to the established, documented reporting process. Board president’s sister lives in a unit he owns and she tattles directly to him on the residents and he fines them based on her word and not the proof that’s needs to be submitted. Utterly corrupt and disgusting. One neighbor was fined for snapping of some braches overhanging the steps that were a trip hazard. No real damage to the shrubs. Sister calls to report it. Neighbor is fines hundreds of dollars to cover removal and replacement of that shrub and the second one (to match) over some branches. Both are retired. The one isn’t strong enough to completely destroy a shrub and the other spies on everyone all day long 🙄

Finally we had enough and voted them all out. Fired them. They sued for damaging their reputation. That got thrown out. There no longer in business. Now I live in a home with no condo or strata councils, but there nothing like in the USA. Leave your door open? What the hell is that all about. Steal our stuff. The woman said something about homeless people living in it. Only in America!
This kid is just trying to earn a living, support his wife and kids, and have some toys to scoot around on during his time off... and the HOA has to poke their nose in and cause problems.
HOA's are managed BY THE HOMEOWNERS! SOMETIMES these are farmed out to HOA MANAGEMENT companies....... BUT, regardless of WHO is the representative manager. The HOA members must abide by COVENANTS AND RESTRICTIONS. Most in the community are probably HOMEOWNERS while some are RENTERS. IF A HOMEOWNER "RENTS" their home, they general are responsible (per the HOA legal documents) that renters are informed of the rules. Look to these documents (including legal HOA RESOLUTIONS for "changes") to resolve conflicts.

Drake Harris That was one of the things I looked for when buying my home. I did not want an HOA. My friend’s sister lived in an upscale neighborhood with an HOA. It sounded like a nightmare. All dogs had to be behind a fence in the backyard, even if you had a fence or gate up front. Other ridiculous things as well. She was always being fined and taken to court. She always won her cases, but she eventually got fed up and left the area.
Update: HOA newest rule, residents now need to leave their windows open and doors unlocked between 9pm and 6am so pesky alarms won't be triggered do to burglary disturbing other residents
Hoa Update: You must leave your houses this Friday between 6am and 9pm, open your doors and leave all valuables in easily accessible places and unscrew all anchored flat screen televisions. Hoa inspectors will remove any suspicious objects found in your home.
I honestly don't get it... People save up like half a mil, buy a house and then pay stranger to dictate how to live their life? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard
Generally an HOA to protect their home values by preventing your neighbors from leaving broken down cars in the front yard or never mowing their lawn. HOAs that get power hungry like this are absurd and need to be fought against. Ultimately it’s your own neighbors making these rules so if the majority speaks up against them they should be able to overturn the rule.
It’s a balance. In most parts of the world, the common areas deteriorate pretty quickly, since nobody wants to chip in for upkeep, but inside a unit might look first class since they have extra pocket money that would have went to HOA. It depends if it’s worth it to you to pay a group to perform upkeep on the common areas.
Badguy blah......Hey !!....I'm with you on this , DUDE !!....Makes No Sense to me either......I always thought if you have a neighbor who doesn't keep the outside of his home clean and neat, which to me is his business anyways, ,that's the job of the city to take care of, isn't that one the reasons we pay a city, and or county tax. You may as well still be living at home with your parents, if you're into being controlled and told what you can and cannot do. The whole idea is B.S. to me !!
Thank you HOA for making the residents' privacy void! It lets us know what people have in their garages worth stealing to ensure we make calculated intrusions. You're the best!
The HOA or community concern is limited the view of a person walking on the curb: the curb appeal of the home. Yes, maintaining property value is important. That's it. Nothing else. Don't let them boss you in your own home.
Maybe ,it is just the point taken, that children live in these homes, also. They have rights to protect their things, too. Even a child does not want his families things to be stolen, or vandalized. Just letting you know, even a child has more reasoning ability than those giving the orders.
As a veteran burglar and home invasionist I appreciate the HOA for making my job alot easier. No more carrying around a heavy crowbar or heavy machinery to access the garage/ house. I always had a dream there would be a world like this and honestly it almost brings me to tears its beautiful.

You're absolutely right. Please keep speaking out about the terrible corrupt "HOAs" and spreading awareness about the "HOAs" power and abuse. State legislatures need to outright ban "HOAs" on detached homes. "HOA" has absolutely no business enslaving owners of detached homes in the United States of America.
As a European it seems insane to me that a private organisation can evict and fine you for not cutting your grass to certain lengths in a house that you worked hard and paid for
When you're dealing with HOA board members you're dealing with narcissist! Its them about control over their surroundings and as a neighbor you're part of their surroundings.
Nah I'm lucky. The house right next to ours is the cutoff for the HOA in our neighborhood, but some dude is now developing the other side of the street after 20 years so they might expand(doesnt matter to me, I'll be gone to college by the time they can approve something like that)
. . . Depends on the HOA. There are pros and cons, as with anything. Personally, I think the pros outweigh the cons. . . . not in _this_ case, so much, but in general. Our HOA can get a little eye rolling sometimes, but thankfully they’ve never overstepped their bounds and in a few cases, have even been the source of thankfulness in the community.
I understand what the boy is saying. My parents moved into an apartment with a garage shared by everyone when I was 12. The door was only opened and closed when cars went in and out. Supposedly only the apartment tenants had access to it. I stored my bicycle there. It lasted a matter of weeks before it was stolen. You cannot "share" a garage with a small building of people and expect your stuff to still be there. This was a very small apartment building, with nine apartments. Three on the left, three in the middle, and three on the right in a three story building. Open garages are for the birds. Who will get their nests stolen, too.
It's entirely possible that somebody is bribing the HOA so that they can get a good look at the resident's cars, either to find somebody by their number-plate or to plan out car-thefts.
In my country, we don't have HOA but animal shelters are like HOA. @Dave or people who believe that their 400,000 dollar house they bought should be used in their own way that they feel fit. Boomers like you think you're just the perfect generation but look at what's happened to the world from you're upbringing. 1970 you could buy a house no problem but after all of your greedy fingers gucked and mucked up the economy, the next generation suffers. We have to work four times as hard just to own a house someone bought for a fraction of the price Back in 1970. So if that's the case I'm going to use the house how I want. And don't even get me started on the endless amount of police report stating the fraudulent actions of HOAs. There are endless lists of their greedy and secretive ways.
@Dave chances are, what happens on the inside of the garage does not affect the property value of the neighbors, therefore HOA should have no business inside.
@Dave I believe when the older generation sees the younger calling for some sort of change and improvement, they often leave it at entitlement. I also believe that it isn’t the fault of the older generation, I think it’s just a physic of change and part of why it’s so hard to change society in general. My current generation will fall to the same shortcomings when it becomes the older generation 🤷🏻♂️
@Dave I started with an advantage? The economy dropped. Jobs were less available. Banks didn't want to loan and money inflated. It isn't just your generation. It truly is each one's before it fault. When my grandfather was a kid he was paying 5 cents for a bag of candy now I'm pulling out 5 Bill's to pay for that same bag. And before that, my 80 year old grandfather was buying cars for 1000 dollars but his grandfather was buying cars for 100 dollars. Money became more scarce and inflated with each generation. There are tons of economical studies made by people who are paid the big bucks to find this out for you. It's one Google search away. But this isn't the point. HOA's are more than just a few 'rules' Dave. It's a ball and chain on freedom. I can't close my garage door? What's next? Can't close my windows when I change? How about lock my doors when I go to work? Open your eyes.

Yeah go ahead and spend $10K+ to have a lawyer tell you it's legal because you agreed to HOA policies in your land deed. If it were illegal I'm sure the neighborhood would come together to form a class action/multiple party lawsuit.
Imagine signing a contract to have a huge tree taken down in your yard for $400. They come and take the tree down and you decide. Well.. 400 is a lot and you really only want to pay $200 instead. Should you take the tree trimmers to court and sue them to have them reduce the bill? When you agreed to 400 and signed the contract and moved forward with it? The tree trimmers are the ones that need to sue. And in this case the HOA needs to sue and fine people who don't abide by the contract.
That’s also an easy access point into your house. Unless the garage is facing a neighbors window or the street it can be the perfect cover space for someone to break in.
@@Firefox1189 I'm wondering the same thing, and so far all the problems that HOA is supposed to deal with are simple things that can be done fairly easy without surrendering your freedom...
