Response to Man The Advertiser, DPC, and others that felt the need to elicit a response from my original video which I have made private since they decided to bring a lady detailer into it, which was not my intention. You guys leave her alone, she has nothing to do with this!

I will not watch any reviewers or testers who are paid to do a review or test. It defeats the entire purpose! You need to be completely unbiased and unsponsored to make a fair review or test! This is just testing & reviewing 101! You and Project Farm are my go to guys!

@@detailone978 Yea I can't believe how umm...."loyal"... some followers are. As fame and business expands, it's hard to stay on a path that doesn't conflict the original intent, skewing to demand just a little here, just a little there, sooner or later the apple falls far from the tree. It's one thing to do YT as a side gig, but another to transition into full time job (or sometimes one's own product line), leveraging the fame into a livelihood, that changes everything for many. Hope Apex doesn't become the same.

Well it's pretty easy, the must meet his standard, which is $16,000. If the product isn't durable he will focus on gloss If the product isn't glossy he will focus on ease of application If the product isn't easy to apply he will focus on "patent pending technology" It's easy to avoid virtually any downside by not mentioning it, and this is assuming he is 100% honest with everything else. Might be easy to say product lasts, can't be certain it is in fact said product, can't be certain down the road in durability tests the product isn't topped up. There's easy ways to lie, and there is easy ways to be dishonest. Giving anyone the benefit of the doubt can only go so far, I've personally bought products strongly recommend by some RU-vid personalities which where absolutely sub par and in no way demonstrate the qualities show in their paid reviews, and I know I'm not the only one.

I know right! Take meguires fast finish sealant in the can when that came out RU-vid detailers fell all over this and said over and over "THIS GIVES 1 YEAR PROTECTION " yea ok bud got like 2-3 months out of it. Then there's Beadmaker the 2nd coming of the messiah yes its smooth shiny and smells great but after a few weeks of hard rain salt snow sun wind sand pollution it's toast. Notice again how these guys say over and over "gives 6 months of protection " yea if garage kept and only takin out on weekends in the midwest on clear weather DAYS! Look folks watching these guys is entertaining just have fun with it.

@@777AndrewR I agree so much about Beadmaker! When I first purchased it, it was from a local shop who warned me that contrary to online reviews, its not a paint sealer. It will make it shiny for a short period and that's all I could expect from it. He was right and I only use it after a maintenance wash to impress if I am going out. Another product I bought based on Man the Advertiser recommendation was Turtle Wax Seal and Shine. Not that shiny and attracts dust like crazy, landing it in the overrated bin.
@GainingDespair

I wish Fuso Coat came in a spray, that has honestly impressed me a lot but I don't really bother to use it frequently. I always reapply products after a wash (I don't mind) though I will wash maybe every 1-2 months and just rinse it with the pressure washer every few weeks. Fuso coat has been very nice and I used it frequently when up in North Dakota during winter, only downside is other products don't boost it's performance. Once Fuso starts to degrade no amount of spray sealants/spray ceramics will improve it as nothing seems to effectively bind on top of it.

One can have good means but given the nature of the situation there is to some degree conflicting interests and I mean that as no disrespect towards anyone. When you review products, but also review your own there will be some bias, it doesn't have to be negative but in all reality if you feel products are not doing what they should, and you release your own product than by logic you will favor your product as it will have traits you seem superior, or in the very least important. You can have good intentions, but as a 3rd party who basically reviews products there will always be some level of bias toward your own product regardless of the individual. For example I love fishing, if I was a reviewer while also deciding to creature my own lure I would naturally design it to my liking so it would intrinsically appeal to me personally, I would be bias towards it even if I had nothing but the most honest of intentions. I think it's this conflicting interest some have a problem with, and it's a price one must pay if they choose to do so, trust is hard to build, it takes time, but until it has been there will be those naturally in doubt just due to the world we live in.

I think Brian from Apex is very knowledgeable. However his tests are sketchy. The 10 wash test is a joke, the heat gun is a gimmick. However the one thing about him I don’t care for is I don’t think he’s ever detailed a dirty, or heavily swirled up, car. Every car he “details” is already in near pristine condition.

Thanks for your response to the crying game video! Behind you 💯%. Side bar: I am not a detailer...nor a wannabe. Just want to keep my own vehicles in the best shape at a reasonable cost and effort. On that note, am I chasing my tail or can I feel confident in choosing one company to provide me with the tools, products and resources without feeling like I need a degree in detailing and a secondary degree in background investigation? For example, I'm ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a DA w/ all the accessories and products. I've been leaning towards Qriot's. American made matters to me; three year warranty is a definite incentive and products created to work together is a bonus. Am I expecting too much? Can you offer any guidance 🙏 to a at home, retired DYI'er? Love all your content and the dedication to be true and transparent! Truthfully, some of your tests (20+, 30+ products) put me on this path to try to be satisfied with a single...or very small number of suppliers. Any guidance from you would be greatly appreciated! Completely brainwashed by the fortnite streaming version of auto detailers. I have no use for Pan’s videos, but I watched his response and it did seem to show that the other party *was* discussing payment options at some point in the exchange. They just didn’t want to pay an upfront fee. The main point (that Pan gives positive reviews for big bucks) is unaffected. But the other company involved (I believe it’s Undrdog? ) might have released selective parts of the e-mail exchange. It certainly looks like they were open to paying him a commission based on sales. Did anyone else catch that from Pan’s response?

As we all know, prostitution comes in many other forms than women soliciting sex. Sad to see the integrity of otherwise fine people being sold for a nicer car. As for Wilson Auto Detailing, a couple of years ago he was mainly about testing out various products, but now he's only talking about profit. I guess by the time a RU-vid influencer gets 100.000+ subscribers the Industry begins to offer lucrative deals in exchange for promoting their products.

I unsubbed from Pan and DPC a long time ago. My only quibble with anything you've said is the implication that Apex's release of their own brand product taints their channel. Brian has been a font of knowledge for years and I believe he will continue in the same vein. I have no issue with his own product as long as his channel doesn't end up as one big push to it and I'm fairly certain it won't (at least to an extent, it only makes sense that he uses it to coat customer vehicles). Business is business and I am fine with that unless it turns into false advertising. Same deal with Forensic doing a tiny number of explicitly paid promotions to help make the channel financially viable. All this said, I note you will be using the Apex product in an upcoming series. I look forward to the results even though I am geographically unable to buy it.

It makes senses for someone with a detailing channel to start their own brand. It turns viewers into customers. On the other hand, you can't expect them to be unbiased about their own brand. I love Larry from Ammo NYC but I would never purchase his products. In independent reviews they have proven to be average at best but they are sold for top dollars. It makes sense that a small brand cannot compete pricewise with international companies. I stopped watching Dallas Paint Correction when he started his brand because all his videos became advertisements for his products so I lost interest. Same with Pan the Organizer, all his videos are promotional and he never has anything bad to say about anything. That can't be unbiased and he says he is not getting paid but I have really a lot of doubts about that. I think everyone can figure out who are reviewers and who are advertisers by the way the products are presented. One thing I have always loved about your channel is that you put all the products on an even playing field and you let the results speak for themselves. I hope you keep doing these tests and show real world results. Thank you!

Several videos later they have better lighting and a nicer background and say “a viewer recommended I test...” or “I got sent this to review and got to tell you I absolutely love it!”. Less content about overall techniques but plenty of specifics on one particular product. Then, they have a product of their own. Just cutting their foreheads before a match to make them bleed.

I don't think they are 'offended' by your video, they are scared. They use the 'reviews' as a means to make money, it's their livelihood. How can anyone expect full honesty from someone who depends solely on the income from these paid promotions to pay the bills? There is literally no possible way they can critique honestly if it will effect how much money they have coming in. The only people that can be truly trusted with genuine product reviews are those that do not depend on it as a source of income. I have a good day job which allows me to detail purely as a hobby & the same goes with reviewing on Detailing World. You are exactly the same so I 100% agree with everything you are saying here. Nike, Ford,Chev,Dodge,Cabelas,Crest,Snap-On,,,,etc. Every professional person gets paid more in endorsements than his salary. “Professional” means “getting paid for what you do or are good at”. The “professional” brings something to the table. In “Man the Advertisers” case he brings 600,000 subscribers. Every paid detailer(professional) charges for his services and virtually every paid Detailer tells their customers that “I’m the best and I only use the best/incredible/most awesome products” and therefore that’s why I charge x amount. That’s what the paid Detailer is bringing to the table. The professional Detailer doesn’t work for free so why should “Man”? Scott HD doesn’t work for free. He gets paid by RU-vid for his work/videos. What people need to realize is that EVERYBODY does something to get something in return!!! When you realize and understand that then you won’t be disappointed when someone does something that you figured was happening anyway.

@Gary Highwilt Good point. I'm getting a clearer vision on the difference. Never really thought about it from that aspect. One puts in the time with no bias to observe the results as they perform and the other tries the products out, likes them, and decides to share the a video to highlight the good aspects without divulging any negatives or just doesn't put in the time to drudge out the products weaknesses. Using the opportunity to expand his business. Still I feel Pan has his place. Haven't seen the video nor do I know how it all started. I will say, which is not worth much, is that I search RU-vid for unbiased opinions about products. I also look for real life examples. I also like to hear and see products that don't work well in comparison. There will never be a best, but there will always be a better. Having said that, I did learn a lot from Pan and I also recall him talking about products he didn't like. However, I stopped watching him because they started to sound like commercials and "endorsements," like all other youtubers that get big. When you start to get that big, you begin to pull back on negative reviews, because companies would be too afraid to pay someone who they don't know if they'll get a good review or bad. Then they begin to focus on the good parts of a product and rarely anything bad, if not at all. If it is bad, it's usually negligible or would not dissuade someone from purchasing. Whereas, in the beginning of their RU-vid career, they wouldn't shy away from saying why a product sucks or why they don't like it in the least bit. Oh the irony. I believe they put themselves in a situation between knowing they got their followers because they were nonbiased and balancing that between monetizing off of their followers and keeping companies happy. They feel vindicated by saying "this is paid by" or "endorsed by" etc, whether they are obligated or not. Yeah, a person can only show and pick the ones they "like," but for them to say they still give unbiased reviews while receiving some sort of monetary compensation is just BS imo. Lastly, good for them for being able to start a career and monetize off of their followers and what they've built. Hell, I'll admit it. I'd prob end up the same way. But, I am just an average Joe trying to find the better product according to how much I can afford. I take their reviews with a grain of salt anymore and will still look for videos with real world examples not commercials or advertisements. I can get that off of the companies website. Just sayn
