He went into a coma as a boy, and 12 years later he came out of the coma as a man, and he remembered everything. Today's incredible video is about a man's story as he was locked inside his body for 12 years, completely aware, but unable to communicate. This heartbreaking story luckily has a happy ending, but how did he endure being trapped for so long? Hear from Martin himself, this is his incredible story of survival.

His parents are amazing. Imagine waking up every 2 hours just to flip your doll like son when you know that your son is likely dead... For over a decade. Every night routine, just caring for your child. It kinda makes you appreciative for the ones you have in life.

@@shom924 She probably had a mental breakdown. It happens quite often with parents who have children with mental and physical disabilities. It is a harsh struggle, everyday you see your child in vegetative state, and reminded that possibly your fault that the child is like that. Every time you try to give them help, but nothing works, and bills, and time add up. Eventually to point make you think what would happen to their child once the parents were gone, who will take of them and how will they be treated. Sometimes it make you wonder if it better for everyone, especially to the child, if they pass away; the child wouldn't suffer anymore being a live in dead state of mind, and abuse by other in the future.

I always talk to my patients, whether they're responsive or not. You can never make the assumption that they can't comprehend your presence. Sparing 5 minutes of your own time to dedicate to them, no matter how small a gesture, whether its reading to them or combing their hair or even just holding their hand for a bit can make such a world of difference. similar story: one of my friends was braindead at 3 from drowning, in a vegetative state. his parents never let them take him off life support and only allowed positive comments, no saying "im so sorry" or "im sorry for your loss". no. only allowed to say positive things. his parents prayed for weeks to deliver him from it. and i wouldnt be telling this story if he didnt make it. he came back, and is one of the happiest guys i know. super positive, loving, and caring.

My brother's heart stopped when he was 17. He was training at a rugby club and apparently just dropped to the ground. The doctors told us he had been without oxegen to his brain for over 20 minutes and that he had severe brain damage. They didnt think he would make it. He went into a coma for months afterwards and when he came out if it he was blind, deaf and unresponsive. After occupational therapy and rehabilitation he slowly started showing signs of improvement. At first it was simple grunt responses but miraculously over a decade later he is walking, talking and living a mostly independent life. He still has problems with dexterity in his hands but he is wittier than me and can hold a conversation with anyone. I couldn't be prouder of the persistence, sense of humour and determination he has shown through it all. We've seen many other patients that weren't so lucky.

Not bad, @@nhandahooker. Try having a repeating nightmare in which you can not awaken from no matter how much you try to force yourself awaken from. One such repeating nightmare for me was once I was tightly strapped down to a stainless steel operating table. A being of nothing but liquefied Corruption sloshed into the room with me. He leaned over me smiling evilly. The bright light from the very large operating lamp overhead began to noticeably dim when he approached me. He stabs me with one of his blacker than black tentacles into my Heart. I scream in agony. He laughs. I feel my Heart very rapidly seizing up as the much colder than ice liquefied Corruption begins to rapidly fill my every fiber of my being. He keeps his vile tentacle inside of me even after he gets done filling me with his Corruption. The pain is more excruciating than what words can accurately describe for what feels like the longest time. As the pain subsides and I pass out as a new permanent transformation begins deep inside of me I wake up only to restart this entire thing over and over again... exactly as before...

As a nursing student, this truly breaks my heart. People (including many, many healthcare providers) can be so incredibly cruel and downright evil. You’re taught to treat everyone as if they can hear you, and are aware of everything you’re doing. I hope he’s happy, now, and that those healthcare providers never get the chance to care for others again.

What legendary parents, without them taking care of him I don’t think he would of survived

I'm stoked he was able to pull through!!! At the same time, such a sad story.. poor guy had to endure all sorts of abuse while being completely helpless and aware! If that happened to me, those nurses who abused me better RUN when I am able to function again!
