My problem with story 1 is why was OP singled out? It just makes it unbelievable when you're like "Oh, I'm the only one being punished." and then don't say why.

Story 1: Well done by the OP here. Don't take crap like that for a second. It would be one thing to deny someone their vacation days for any other reasons, but to make up a new handbook rule like that is just a BS excuse and considering how smug the one manager was about it, he basically had the "deal with it attitude. Well, the OP dealt with it alright. While it sucks the OP had to resign in the end, but good on the other managers for losing their jobs over this and having to pay out the OP for unused vacation time. Story 2: OP is not a jerk at all here and really has every right to view the mom and sister as strangers here, particularly the mom. While i understand that the mom had to focus on the sister because she was born very prematurely and had childhood leukemia and had to spend a lot of time in the hospital, but she really should've been there for the OP at many points in his life. The OP is by no means being selfish by not wanting to help the mom out. She did very little for him growing up, so why should he help her now? Story 3: OP is not a jerk here, and it really sounds like the brother is just a big mooch. I can totally see why the OP is doing something different for the parents here. Why should he be getting things that the brother and his family are just going to take away? They are just bitter that they arent getting anything free anymore. Story 4: OP is not a jerk at all and the wife really needs to tell this "friend" to rack off. That lady is 100% taking advantage of the OP's wife here and if the wife can't see that, then she is either blind or dumb. its one thing to help out a true friend if they need it, but this lady is just clearly taking the wife for a total ride here. Also, the fact she was only getting $40 a week? How can you not see that as a huge red flag? OP needs to put his foot down more often here and needs to get this lady away from his wife. Story 5: OP is not a jerk and is 100% right here. While i understand that some people lack social skills or awareness, but the sister here sounds very insufferable and i know i wouldn't want to be hanging around her at all. She is lonely and its really her own fault in the long run. The OP shouldn't be responsible for anything here and telling the parents that it is their is really just both tough love and the truth.

The second story. The OP isn't the jerk for not wanting to help his mother and yes I can somewhat understand the mother's point of view trying to help her very sickly child. But the OP's mother has no right to demand anything from the OP after giving all her time, energy and finances solely to her second child instead she owes the OP a heartful apology and ask, not demand, just ask if he could help her out a little bit and perhaps restart their relationship.

I worked at cooper standard and everything was going well until they found out I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis then they started treating me like shit and putting me on jobs that I was having trouble doing and this went on for 2 and a half years until I finally lost my cool and told them that I knew what they were doing and why they were doing it then fired me for violation of company policy but couldn't tell me what the policy was

not the jerk the wife needs to stand up to this friend and op should tell his wife how to say no and stand up to her friend by herself without his help.
