Brailsford joining United is one of the best things to happen to us in recent history. He's very knowledgeable. I think him and Ten Hag will work miracles together. They speak the same language regarding high performance.

the problem is ten Hag didn't show anything to make him stay. He is out of his depth to be Man Utd manager. He is stubborn. He plays same players day in day out. His favoritism is very obvious. He quarrels and has conflicts with players who were for entire career problem free like Casemiro, De Gea, Varane... Even Cristiano fills the bill. Guy should be sacked. I don't see anything in him what would make me back him up 100%. Plus our performances has been awful this season. If not for McTominay who won us 6 pts, we would have been below Chelsea...

@@info0Precisely, Erik Ten Hag is not a serious person. He's demonstrated that he is not fit for the job especially this season. Ratcliffe, Brailsford, Barrada and company will especially recognize this truth. Even if EtH was performing well (which he's not), he'd still probably get axed anyway because new regimes always prefer having their own appointments to build their eras.

I'm 47 so when Man United started getting good around 1991, I was only 15 years old. From that time all the way to 2013 (23 years) all I had seen was Man United being the best team and when they weren't the best, they were 2nd or god forbid, 3rd! We always finished in the top 4 in those years. I am exactly the same as the interviewer where I didn't know what it was like to see my team be mediocre, but for the last 10 years that's all I have seen. It just made me realize how incredible Alex Ferguson was and how tough it is to be the best in this sport, even just for 1 or 2 years, let alone the huge expanse of time Alex Ferguson was doing it.

I was saying exactly this to my friend the other day. Success was so assured, I used to wish not to win league titles so that we signed the players we wanted. Between 2010 and 2012, Man City, Barcelona, Bayern and to an extent Arsenal played exhilarating passing football. Man Utd were not interested those days in sprinjng passes together to carve open team. It was all gung ho, attack at speed, transitional and deadly finishing. Those days even though we were winning I thought 'Glazers won't buy top players if Sir Alxe keeps getting to UCL finals and winning the prem' so in 2012, I wished we didn't win the league, and call me crazy but I was happy Man City won it that year because I knew we would get a reaction in the transfer market. Low and behold, we signed arguably the best number 9 in the world and Kagawa who was the best player in the Bundesliga. We had a fantastic and exciting season, playing insane football with Rooney, Van Persie, Kagawa, Valencia, Scholes, Giggs etc And won the league in perfect fashion with that Van Persie volley vs Villa. Did I think we would go 10+ years with no title at the time, unthinkable.

I love how this guy works and Sir Dave for me is the real deal. I am intrigued to see how he copes with football and the riches that it brings. Having been in sport for the last 30 years, they are very differently motivated to many other sports. Money is a significant factor and that not being harsh its fact along with often some still old school old coaching and mindset analogies. You only have to read Deans Saunders daft comments on his appointment to see that!.. Saying that its improving massively. He is not financially driven as a primary and having known people who work for him, He is a different type of character to most in the football world. Its going to be either amazing and we will see Utd have a massive performance resurgence or it will be a slog. What a ride this could prove to be. Jim Ratcliffe has made one hell of a call here but one as an avid sports lover I cant wait to see the outcome.

Interesting initial conversation about achieving vs sustaining team success. Teams succeed, in part, because team members are willing to sacrifice individual success to benefit the team. Once the team achieves success, however, team members are often less willing or unwilling to sacrifice further in order to sustain the team’s success. On the contrary, team members expect much more for themselves as a result of the team’s success. More money, more attention, more shots, etc. even if it is quite clear that granting these individual demands to everyone is unsustainable and will be to the detriment of the team. Pat Riley, one of the most successful NBA coaches and executives, called it the “Disease of Me” or the “Disease of More.”

I’m intrigued to see whether these guys can have an impact on the club. They seem to have knowledge on all elements required for an efficient business. However, the last thing we need is dilly-dallying when it comes to decision making. We saw enough of that with Moyes & Woodward. United now need decisiveness. Every facet of the club should have been pretty much analysed by now. Squad, behaviour, attitude, diet, staff, facilities, working environment, wages, atmosphere etc. If it doesn’t serve the goal, it needs to go as soon as possible.

What I find absolutely remarkable is the fact that when SAF and David Gill left no one whether it be Woodward or the glazer thought filling that void with expertise between the manager and the board (140 scouts on united pay role crazy compared to 40 at city)as in best in class to compensate for the vacuum that was left when SAF especially left. Sure he had scouts but its shocking that whoever appointed Moyes didn't think he needed help when it came to recruitment at a higher level.

It helped Fergie massively that he got an unprecedented level of power at Utd. though he had to earn it. And its not like he didnt make mistakes either. But the thing he always did so well was delegation. If he wasnt the best coach or trainer he would get one in, maybe change them up after a few years, keep people on their toes. And he would always listen to those people because he knew they had value. Whatever works. This is the polar opposite of the club now. The club has become a nostalgia theme park, filled with clueless imposters. Commercial first, even spreading in to player transfers. Its living proof of how to run a successful, solvent club in to the ground.

I don't necessarily think Brailsford will be the key - but the other people that come in as a result of the takeover and finally moving the club to the modern standard of football organisation, will be the key to improving as a club. We've spent too long avoiding adding the right people to work above the manager and it's killed having any consistent plan across several managers.
