As a recovering crack and heroin addict of nearly 20 years, I can tell you the problem is not really the drugs. It's the thinking and the behavioural patterns of the addicts because of their backgrounds and life experiences. You will not tackle it by removing the drugs, as they will always find more. The only way to tackle it would be long term counselling and therapy. And public support networks for young people from troubled environments to stop it happening in future generations. Otherwise, it will just carry on. Those are the only options.

I agree as a recovering coke addict to get off it I had to change my behaviours get clean and learn to deal with my self clean through step work I found I was full of fear and anxiety I didn’t know how to manage through getting the right people around me and the right help I got past the bad feelings and found you get a better buzz out of life being sober than on drugs just by being happy living in the hear and now experiencing the sober here and now family friends going for meals holidays sobriety is a life beyond your wildest dreams. The hardest part is getting off the drugs long enough and working hard enough on your self to reach this mindset once you achieve this you wont want to go back to drugs and alcohol and all these people already have experienced life before drugs and alcohol when they where kids before they tried drugs they can get that mind back.

People who have homes and jobs and families criticise the homeless for taking drugs or alcohol but what they fail to realise is that when you have nothing and live on the streets it's a horrible existence so they try to block out the reality of their situation!!! I've been homeless, and didn't take drugs. The thought never even crossed my mind. I ended up down in Victoria, with many of the other homeless people because The Passage is located there, as is St. Mungo's. My concern was getting out of the situation, not begging for money and buying drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes. Stop making excuses for poor decision making.

We took in someone who was made homeless (for the second time, I took him in the first time too). All I asked was to keep the keep himself clean, open the window to air out the room and get himself back on his feet. I didn't charge him any rent and fed him. Every morning as I came downstairs I was slapped in the face by the smell of smokes and alcohol. My husband had to force him to shower, he put smokes in my washing machine and he still found the time to go and get smashed. We kicked him out recently but his stuff is still being stored for free in our babies room. Before you pass judgement on people looking down on homeless try actually helping them only to get bitten in return.

Not HARD to get addicted to, it's PHYSIOLOGICALLY impossible to become chemically dependant on psilocybin.
@davehedgehogUK
@davehedgehogUK 10 месяцев назад
I kinda get your point, but no psychedelic is "harmless" - people die under the influence of it by doing stupid things like walking out to sea, jumping from buildings thinking they can fly. Psychological issues can often arise from it too, especially for those that have suffered a bad trip, just look into people from the hippy era that were ruined by LSD, or even worse the people with depression, schitzophrenia and stuff that were given it under trial in America. It's not harmless at all, especially for anyone that has underlying mental issues already, it can really exacerbate the problem they already have. Personally I can't even smoke weed anymore, because it brings instant flash backs of a bad trip I had as a teenager in the 1990's. That's very tame compared to what some people suffer due to psychedelics. Very, very tame. No drug is harmless, not even socially acceptable drugs like coffee and alcohol. The only drug I take now is the occasional line of lemo, never had any issues with it myself, but it's far from harmless itself. I've known people get addicted to it and lose their house and job whereas for me it's just a cheeky livener on a night out. All banned drugs should be legal, that way they could at least be controlled and most pertinently of all, they could be regulated so they're safe(r.) legalising drugs would put a LOT of people out of work though, so it's never likely to happen. They'll legalise weed at some point in the next decade, but that's pretty much already legal in the sense nobody gives a monkey's about it. They'll never legalise coke, speed, E etc as they'd lose far too much tax from people working in the industries set up to combat the issue, that and they'd hate to see the working and middle class have access to things that may affect them being good little hamsters, constantly running on the wheel of work and paying tax. You can see this in action now by how they're doing their damndest to destroy the pub industry. They want everyone working until death, not enjoying themselves or doing things that might kill them before pension age.

So sad- so many broken homeless people trying to escape their lives. I felt for Shaun, he had an honesty and openess about his addiction and what he is running away from, he's basically a good person who hates himself and sees no future where he could be healthy and living a nice life. The guy who invented Spice was trying to make a legal cannabis but made a way more destructive drug in the process. As the recovering addict said, put a politician on the streets as a homeless person and they'd be addicted to Spice within a few days.

@NmpK24

When it comes to the 'War on drugs' people in charge dont learn a thing from history. They still focus too much on supply, which is impossible to curb, when demand is the real issue. And its the same with alcoholism, personal, emotional, social problems etc. are the main contributor for this. Fact is drug prohibition just doesnt work, it only helps organized crime groups to become richer and more powerful. And for every person they lock up there will always be ten more to take their place. Even in countries where there are long sentences or the death penalty is involved for drugs it still doesnt stop it.

@BillyBobVillejuif well, interesting story: It was called a 'Legal High' before a legislation (to get it criminalised) was put in place. It was never made legal but because it was released in smaller shops as 'Incence', 'Potpourri' etc. it took the government longer. I do agree with you though, imo it should be Class A and cannabis should be Class C/decrim/legal. The Governments are definitely guilty.

I had a joint with him and it seemed ok, hit strange. It looked like weed, but smaller buds. Like low quality weed. It was really flaky and strange looking buds with a sort of strange smell and taste. The initial high was like weed was about to take effect. I got a tens off him and went home and it hit me from the joint i had with my mate. I was the most paranoid i have ever been and triple locked my door and had an overwhelming sense that people were trying to kill me, even though i have no enemies. I smoke the whole tens and this just kept happening. My mate binned the whole 2 oz. I am pretty sure spice was in the market in a much more "acceptable" looking form before it was on the shelves legally. I'm not sure when spice hit, but i am sure we were smoking a type of it before it became legal. It went about for a bit and everyone stopped buying and shotting for a while.

I've put most types of vice into my system and really my only boundary was a fear of needles. Thank god. Spice is the only drug i would never ever consider partaking in again under any circumstance. 2 unfortunately long drags on a joint and i was in a hell dimension for about 45 minutes. I have never been that scared ever. It starts like salvia but doesnt have the benefit of not remembering anything. I cant understand how anyone could become tolerant to and semi functional on it ( other than being locked up which seemed to me where the real addicts picked it up ) Im glad i grew out of wanting to be off my head.

I tried it twice, once by accident in manchester. Both times were horrendus. 2nd time pissed me off cos I baught what was sold to me as weed, it looked weird but I thought nothing of it, a few drags later I had a fit and ended up in A and E. First time I tried it (when it was still legal) a mate of mine said it was just likd weed... it was horrible and i lost control of my body and it produced a temporary paraysis. Its horrible shit would never touch it again ever. There is no real way to know how potent the synth THC is and it is vastly more pyschoactive

I should make a correction. When the Geeza came into my room to stop me screaming for help / rescue he said I was having a mamba attack. I'm not sure there's much difference to spice⁰. When he told me I wasn't in a hell dimension and safe I recovered pretty much on the spot. I can't understand how the same bloke was smashing me at fifa and keeping pace at darts an hour earlier after joints to himself. Serves me right for making the most of those two tokes I spose.

I used to smoke weed and when I got a new job they did drug tests randomly the forklift driver put me onto what was called legal highs. (They didn't show up on the drug tests) Which you used to get from the head shops. When the government got involved and totally banned these legal highs that made a lot of the head shops Needing to get rid of their merchandise. I had a friend who knew somebody who had a shop and to make a very long story shorter I bought half a kilogramme for £400. I spend most of my time in the house watching youtube playing video games several months later I realised what I was doing to myself and the bit I had left I buried it in the Garden making sure I could never get it again. These people in the streets have a different atmosphere around them and are not in control of what happens around them where as I was. so the effects can vary from person to person and depending on what environment you're in affect you in. Sadly not alot of education around spice, its not synthetic cannabis, really has nothing to do with cannabis. Its actually liquid chemicals like animal tranquilizers mixed with other stuff. Just putting animal brain stunning chemicals mixed with god knows what into your body. Dangerous stuf

Watching this short insight's been both informative and extremely disturbing! I believe that most people are aware of the homeless situation in our towns and cities as it's blatantly in your face everywhere you turn nowadays, as was the drug taking/beer drinking. This Spice epidemic is properly some next level sh1te though!! It's left me with a feeling feckin naive as well as bloody angry at the government, from the local village /town MP to the Downing Street fraudsters. The lot of them have poked hard and stirred up a hornets nest that's clearly devastating families, isolating and victimising certain sociaital groups, ruining businesses, creating problems and hardship and basically creating/maintaining chaos, fear, crime and a fractured society through their thoughtless, idiotic criminalisation of a substance that obviously needs closer supervision and not forcing it underground. Sorry for ranting about this, but it's sincerely frightening to see what our 'leaders' are blatantly doing to our once thriving society! Again, well done for shining a spotlight on this devastating issue. Blessings be upon you all
@Andy-wx4wx

Agree with you. The government are only interested in their own bank accounts and power. The main drug dealers at the top care for nothing except getting money and use runners / mules, whatever you want to call them to do the work. Unfortunately drug use will never be obliterated as it's an epidemic, despite promises from Chief Constables that it's a priority.

I was in the nick in '95 as well and it was all about smack then. Plus a bit of puff. Nowadays there's no drugs except spice in jail. U can spot the people who smoke it easily.
