The life of Mandy Sellars from Accrington in Lancashire, who has a rare overgrowth condition. She has a size 12 body, but gigantic feet and legs. After years of medical tests, her genetic condition has now been diagnosed by endocrinologist Dr Robert Semple and his team at Addenbrookes Hospital.

As of December 2022, Mandy had lost about 20kg overall. She's experiencing a little bit of trouble with her medication but she's working with her team to continue treating her condition. She has an update on her Facebook page for those interested.

Mandy seems likes such a kind sweet person. I was afraid to look for an update to this video because I didn't want to read bad news so thank you for the update. I'm happy Mandy is doing better. I hope she continues to improve and can gain more independence. I also hope the research into her case will help others with similar issues. Wow what an inspirational and amazing woman! To think I wasted my youth worrying about cellulite and that I didn't have legs like a supermodel and there's people like Mandy dealing with real problems that have effected the course of her life with such grace is truly humbling.

I don't want to watch the whole video, it's not pleasant seeing this poor woman's struggle. Why can't they amputate higher? What is in her leg? Is it water weight? Can it be drained? This poor woman. I see some people are praying for her. That actually makes me a little mad. Like there's an omniscient god up there making people with swollen horrific legs for his amusement and they're... begging him for mercy? Asking for an explanation? I don't get it.

I think that was one of my biggest takeaways from Mandy. She is an inspiration. I get so down and depressed dealing with my disability. I'm so tired of always fighting. Seeing little Emaleigh with the same genetic condition seems to have given Mandy a huge boost in determination. I hope Emaleigh will be treated by Mandy's team, they've done all the research and found the cure. Mandy absolutely amazes me. So many people in my country (me included) complain about the most minor inconveniences and really allow the smallest things to bring us down. I used to live very close to Mandy, quite literally less than a 5 minute walk away. I never actually saw her but I knew she was around. I’d always wondered whether something had been done to help her and today I decided to find out. I saw that the drugs are working and in 2016 (3 years after this doc) she'd already lost 5 stone (70 lb). I couldn't find any new numbers but if it did that in 3, I can only imagine what she's lost now. That makes me really happy for her. She's always been so bright and positive. She deserves to have an amazing life and I hope she gets to do everything she's ever wanted to do now that her legs aren't holding her back like this anymore.

Omg im so so happy for mandy that the medication has worked, i have cerebyl palsy and severe arthritis in my legs and need a walker to walk with, but have always said to people when they say to me, " oh you poor thing", that there are always people out there that are worse off than myself

What a huge difference, so happy for Mandy and others with this rare disorder. Shes an amazing warrior. I wished we had a Dr. Semple who can help figure out the genetic disorder that plagues so many. Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. They've isolated the genes that cause Vascular Ehlers Danlos and Classical EDS, but we are still searching for elusive HEDS.
