He declared that he wrote the song thinking about his actual girlfriend. She suffered (still suffering) for health issues and some form of depression, had a very bad relationship with her father and also had an abortion. She is now an amazing, beautiful and brilliant young woman. Writer, activist, model and influencer. Her name Is Giorgia Soleri.

In my opinion this is still their best performance ever. I can't watch it without crying! 😭 I don't know if you noticed (because it's hard to see with the large text on the screen) but they were accompanied by an orchestra. That's a special element of the Sanremo festival. I was able to watch it while it was still posted on an Italian network without the words covering it, and it was beautiful. After the performance Damiano (the singer) was so emotional, he was crying. Probably not only because of the song but because they were home in Italy for the first time in a long while, after their hugely successful year, and his loved ones were in the audience.

As Maneskin said themselves, this song is about a girl who went through a lot of suffering and pain, both physical and mental, but the lyrical hero of the song is not a knight in shining armour and he won`t be able to save the poor girl, he can only watch her struggle helplessly, there`s no happy end here.

As I already said, as an italian, the word "misera" is translated wrong, it's not poor, here it means "common", "stupid" it's a methaphor, like an easy door to open in normal circumstances but that she can't open because of her fragility. I like that part because it shows how pain, depression and anxiety are usually devalued by people.

Coraline is his girlfriend, Giorgia Soleri, who had suffered for years with endometriosis and vulvodynia. Since she was misdiagnosed for countless years, she suffered tremendously. Damiano wrote this song, dedicated to her. In this performance at San Remo 2022 she was in the audience, so that explains his emotion. He was literally singing to her, and the day after this performance he confirmed that Giorgia Soleri is Coraline❤.

i think he wrote it for a friend who was abused by her father and that's the weight that she's carrying. at the end when they talk about coraline 'going to live in a castle' people have said it means she's no longer alive in this realm, rather she went to a place where no one can hurt her anymore..

coraline need more than one hearing is too complex structured Song, had a lot inside the lyrics, then this version is so emotional, Damiano was crying during almost half of the song, and with the orchestra was more emotional, the end had a symbolic meaning for me as you understand was a tribute for someone who isn't more in this world (the orchestra was playing alone in that moment and if you notice is REQUIEM is a piece of music used on funerals) Coraline is a sad story. And your reaction was GREAT!!

Lol u r going far beyond, like the song doesnt mean any of it. It means a society which doesnt need her, a father that abandon her by not taking care of her and telling her to go to place where she is "worth it" cause there she will be untouchable and she will reach everything. She fell in love but she lost her child which the other person didnt love as she thought. Coraline describes a fragile and a girl which he wishes to see to go out of this depressive cage she is into.
