I apologize for the delay this time. The new books arrived from Yen Press on Tuesday, August 8th and I wanted to take a couple of days to read through them so I could talk about them since I was unable to include them in the July Guide. I'm glad I did because there were a lot of really cool hidden gems this month! Also I braided my hair for this video. I'm just trying to play with new ways to get my hair out of my face. I think it's ALMOST long enough to donate so we might be saying goodbye to the mane in the next couple of months.
@@SamTheGumMan117 I had two but guess I forgot to put the other on my shoulder. Was going for the willie Nelson look and failed. Need a few more inches for that as well
Yea grab a couple different first volumes because personally I can read a vol in around 30 min to an hour. I just started earlier this year and I’m hooked.
ooooo congrats! What are you looking to buy? If youd like some advice, id say start with a shorter series more tailored to your interests instead of jumping right into a long shounen title and get a feel for what kind of stories your into before expanding out more.
Word of advice, pick the series you want to collect carefully. Cant tell you how many volumes i had purchased thinking i would buy the whole series “eventually” and that never came haha
Lots of people make the mistake of buying a lot of volume ones to different series. It’s better to get a whole series so you can actually read it. Do you have any favorite anime?
"After We Gazed at the Starry Sky": the manga was originally a single volume release but I think after the success of that volume they decided to release a second one. That's why you sometimes find contradicting info but it's definitely a two volume series (and a very cute one at that!) Also great video as always!
As per usual, great video. I was curious too about "After We Gazed At The Starry Sky". As per Manga Updates, it seems that it's a two volume series. Perhaps not mislabeled after all 🤷🏻♀️.
Great video as always! I really like watching these cause theres always stuff in here ive never heard of or forgot about so its great to get that refresher and learn about new stuff. For instance, i totally forgot Mr.Villains Day Off was getting a physical release and ive heard very good things about that one so im def gonna keep an eye on it. Im also happy to hear Illustrated Guide to Monster Girls is good, i got interested in it based on the cover and it was in the Most Anticipated list at the recent SDCC Best & Worst Manga panel so i was looking forward to it, plus ive been looking to get some more shoujo in my collection and i like that its a short series at only 4 volumes. (also am i the only one who heard the title and thought it was a artbook intially lol) Again great video!
Not sure if these are going to be released in august, but I'm looking forward to buy Parasyte #3 (Full Color Edition) and volumen #12 of Land of the Lustrous.
I didn't even know about the Mieruko-chan anthology book that's awesome along with JoJo part 5 vol 9, Lupin collection and the evil step mom manhwa sounded good really excited for them
Thanks for the video. I didn't know about "A Girl on the Shore" !! I'll have to check it out, I love the adult themes that Asano explores in his stories. I'm surprised you didn't mention Akane-banashi, but I'm very excited for that one!!! Been waiting it on my shelf since it started just over a year ago.
Touge Oni is my top new release this month. I've been looking forward to it since Yen announced it and i read a few chapters online. Mr. Villain's Day Off is another one I'm planning on picking up. Pandora Seven Vol 2 is coming out this month and i'm bringing it up because I started reading the series because of this channel. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax I already got in the mail. Lastly is the final volume of Sorry For My Familiar (which wasn't mentioned) but the 11th and final volume is coming out Aug 22 which is bittersweet to see the end of such a fantastically hilarious series.
@@BOOGIE23er Sorry for My Familiar takes place in the demon realm, where all demons are accompanied by familiars. However, not-so-clever demon Pati does not have one, until she reluctantly chooses a human named Norman as her familiar.
the asociate professor manga sounds interesting. somethings wrong w/ us i still gotta add to my collection cause i love that series and its author. but the BIGGEST RELEASE FOR THIS AUGUST IS **THE FINAL VOLUME OF REAL ACCOUNT** its coming out on the 29th and i got it locked down on pre order soooo excited to finish it
I just started reading manga in the beginning of this year. I’m currently reading Chainsaw man, spy x family, Sakamoto days, berserk, deadman wonderland, smokin parade, and way of the household husband (only read the first vol because I think Sakamoto days does the premise better imo). Can anyone tell me what GL and BL means in terms of manga?
@@SamTheGumMan117 Thanks! I really did my research honestly. I also have 20th century boys but I haven’t read it yet. I used to watch a lot of anime. So many books I want to get now. I’m actually looking for good slice of life manga if you know any.
Wind Breaker Vol 1 I thought was really solid, kinda gives me Tokyo Revengers vibe. Delinquent daddy & tender teacher is SO cute, I think you'd actually really enjoy that one. Also After we gazed at the starry sky, it has two volumes out in Japan vol 2 was released in feb this year, and the latest chapter starting vol 3 came out on the 9th August, so we should hopefully see some more! I preordered Centaurs a while ago but it's been cancelled by the supplier - so I don't think we'll see that this month either :(
I've asked about this before, but are you planning on making a video about the manga announcements from anime expo this year? You seem mostly caught up on your usual video schedule since you got sick, so hopefully there's some room for it.
Wish Seven seas would get the original Lupin the third series. I'm not into greatest hits. I remember when lupin central use to be active on twitter they announced last year that South Korea was gonna get the original manga in Korean.
I got to go out to my nans to pick up volumes 6,7 of blue lock and volume 5 of uzaki-chan wants to hang out and monday i should have the one piece omnibus that has volume's 52,53,54 in it. And,on the 17th, i should have volume's 6,7 of uzaki-chan wants to hang out, and volume 55 of one piece arriving. Also, on the 16th, im planning on ordering volume's 1,2 of boys abyss, and volume 1 of skeleton knight in another world.
Luckily they're speeding up the process a bit. After Stone Ocean volume 1 gets released, all future JoJo manga will be released 1 volume every 2 months compared to 1 volume every 3 months.
