the first one you try is the sicky rice with sugar and dry fish, you suppose to put coconut milk over the dry fish. very deliciuos. it give you salty from dry fish and sweet from sugar, a combination of thai sweet and savoury. if you have chance, try to find a orange color topping for sticky rice, it made from shredded coconut and shimp with a smell of kaffir lime leaf, usually sell with yellow color sticky rice, another sweet savoury sticky rice.

Putting coconut milk over the rice is the right way. It’s actually an option. I have never seen anyone put it over the fish before but it is the food, eat it the way you want 😁

You did the right way to eat sticky rice with mango because you put coconut milk on sticky rice then you added mango after the first bite of the sticky rice .Sticky rice taste a little bit salty and filled with fragrance from coconut milk that will rise up before the taste sweet and sour of mango more outstanding , especially when followed with crunchy soys comes up step by step .These all will happen in your mouth .

I am 63 years old Thai national. Mango sticky rice has been my favorite dessert since I was a child. In the old days, Thai people did not pour coconut milk sauce over mango. We just blended the coconut milk sauce with the sticky rice to make it moist, soft and shiny. By doing so, the sticky rice becomes attractive to the eyes. That is the right way to have a pleasure of eating it. Cheers!

I am Thai and from Chiang Mai. The northern people pour the coconut milk sauce over the mango. It’s different from the central part of Thailand. I have eaten and seen like like what I said since I was a child. But when moved to Ayutthaya, I was surprised that the mango sticky rice here, does not come with extra coconut milk and it annoys me a lot cause the rice in central region is too sweet for northern pleople like me. The coconut milk helps blending the taste less sweet as it tastes salty.

The second dessert called Khao Neow Sangkaya. The best mango for sticky rice is not Nam Dok Mai but Oak Rong. But Oak Rong Mango is very rare and have less pulp than Nam Dok Mai.

The first one is Sweet Sticky Rice with Dried Fish . The green one is Khanom chan or Layer cake ...you can see layers on side view of it and use finger to peel layer by layer to eat.

That coconut custard is actually found all over Thailand - just usually not shaped and cut like that. It's made with duck eggs. I love it. Have you tried it wrapped up in a banana leaf? Some of the best traditional desserts are served this way. You can also find this custard steamed inside pumpkins. Maybe you can try to see if it's the same. Maybe I am wrong. Lol. Another great video!

Thai custard (สังขยา) and custard in the pumpkin (ฟักทองสังขยา) are made from the same ingredients (with out the pumpkin), but in the little bit different ratio. Though there is another type of สังขยา with normally eating with bread which is more fluid like some dipping sauce. And they also share the same main ingredients.

Kor Panich is truly a place worth visiting if you are in the vicinity of ถนนข้าวสาร or Kaw San Road (Bang Lum Pu, Bangkok). I frequented this place since 1965, with my mother then. They were among the very first to come up with the perfectly prepared sticky rice and coconut cream that was not too sweet but with a hint of sea salt. And yes the mangos were always nice and soft just like pudding. Now, I get to go and have some.

The mangoes you had were Nam Dok Mai cultivar which were sweet. I recommend you try Ok-rong with sticky rice which is a bit sourer and better pleasant aroma. it's also available at the place you bought mangoes in your video (The smaller and green ones on your right at 0:39). It's usually more expensive than Nam Dok Mai. I think it's not easy to find Ok-rong in foreign countries because its shelf life is much shorter than Nam Dok Mai.

My mom was very good at Thai dessert. She worked very hard and took care family earn from small shop in up county. Meanwhile, My wife is very good at western confectionaries. She tried to learn Thai dessert from my mom. She asked my mom about Thai dessert recipes, such as weight of sugar. My Mon said that she don't know exactly, just put it and taste. You have to try with local with banana leafs packing, much more charming and only small not too big as you eat, in Thailand still have unseen, with out promoting in social no plastic packages.

The best type of Mango for the mango sticky rice is "Ok-Rong" which tastes sweet and sour with a special kind of aroma. The aroma and the sour taste would compliment the sweet and salty taste of the dessert. But this mango is kinda rare and more expensive. So "Nam Dok Mai" - cheaper and more beautiful- is the commercial version of the Mango Sticky Rice. But it still tastes really good.

Yes.. Og rong is the best type of MA go to eat with sticky rice.. But in fact.. nowadays it is very rare to have seen any seller sell Og rong mango.. In the old days mango sticky rice will only come with og rong mango.. But. IT Is not grown in mass product because of some unknown reasons.. maybe.. difficulties, need some special place or soil.. It is not popular though very delicious.. Later it was replaced with Nam Dok Mai mango which later become popular and could be grown better than the original Nam Dok Mai.. Now I still love this Og Rong mango to go with sticky rice... But it seems to disappear from the market... It is more delicious than Nam Dok Mai but has its unique sweetness.. Also has some atractive smell that no other mango can compare...

The best sticky rice from Chiang Rai that you mention in the vlog 7:22 is call “ข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงู” or “Keaw Ngoo Sticky Rice” , Ngoo or งู = Snake , Keaw or เขี้ยว = Fang. So the Keaw Ngoo Sticky Rice is mean The Snake Fang Sticky Rice. It’s named from it shape that look like snake fang. This sticky rice is really rare. It is not normal sticky rice that Thai people eat in meal. It plant just only for this food. You cannot find this ingredient in any recipe except Mango Sticky Rice. Cause in Mango sticky rice we need to cook the sticky rice and mix it with coconut milk. Normal sticky rice will muddy when we do this step. In another way Keaw Ngoo Sticky Rice is too hard to eat without mix with coconut milk so we not eat it in normal meal. Keaw Ngoo Sticky rice is very rare and hard to find. For normal thai people that need to do Mango Sticky Rice in-house, We use normal sticky rice. The Mango sticky rice that use Keaw Ngoo Rice is just only in the famous shop like this Kore Parnit or in restaurant.

ข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงู is the popular kind of sticky rice using in Thai sweet especially for ข้าวเหนียวมูน . The name of the sticky rice mean the snake fang. Most of Thai dessert use coconut milk. But coconut milk made from different type of coconut that has delicious coconut water (or juice).

I used to see Italian so dramatically mad with pineapple on pizza, crack long spaghetti to make it short before they boiled, and put some ice on red wine. I don't get it. Now, I completely understand when I saw you put coconut milk on mango.
