Thank you! I have an Ice cream mango tree growing in a pot here in Oregon zone 8 And it had a rough start but it is now growing new leaves! Sadly I don't think it'll survive in the ground here which is unfortunate! Seems I don't have to worry about bringing it inside during late Spring or Summer so here's hoping it does well. :)
Great Video, Jeff ! And not just because we share the same, great first name ! -Jeff.😁👊 Here in the interior Metro Phx Zone 9B, we grow them everywhere ! I currently have 2 mango trees...once had a few more. They need protection for the 1st 2-3 winters & summers--then often do much better thereafter.
My mom just showed me a house with a mango tree in the front yard she told me she seen it outside every winter, the tree is about 7' tall and we are in Minnesota
My mango tree is probably 5-6 months old. Have it in a 5 gallon bucket to move it inside this winter in central FL 9B. Did the same with 2 pineapple plants and a fig tree. Also have a little peanut plant about 3 weeks old the squirrels grew in my yard.
Keeping my fingers crossed.. I put out 32 gallon trash cans filled with water in an attempt to raise the temperature a bit. Also hope my 2 years of woodchip mulch helps out. Thanks Jeff for your videos very helpful. I'm located in Fresno and have some young mango trees in dormant. When do you see your most growth?
Amazing video @jeff I thank you for all your videos I was ready to plant my mango tree from seed. This cold weather came and I was thinking I should wait or what do you recommend
Don’t scare me! I am just venturing out to grow my own mango in San Jose when we get below zero a few nights. Wish me luck and if my mango tree grows, I will share the fruit with you.
The TropicalGardenGuy Good morning ! Tell me please If I plant a stone from Pickering mango Will it bear fruit If so, after how many years? And another question Will it retain maternal properties?
A fruit plant growing is the proportion of height and roots. The taller tree will grow deeper and wilder. So it will damage the house if it planted too close.
Hi Jeff, a very informative video, any suggestion which variety of mangoes are good for small backyard specially I am looking for something which I can grow in container and also I am located in Dublin, California
@@TropicalGardenGuy I was thinking it might be possible if I got a cold hardy variety like you mentioned and just wrapped it heavily during the winter and mulch it heavily as well
I am having a small saplings of mango tree just grow from seed it is growing one foot htin a small pot. Will it erect this in ground ? My son is staying in sunnyvale California . I dont knoe the temp.of that place in winter and will it grow on the ground or not?
Hi I have planted a mango tree in my house it’s about tow months old do you thing it will do good I’m from Montreal it started to get cold so please let me know if it will survive thank you
I live in Northern side of Europe, so it can go down to -30 (on rare occasions) so will it surivive ???, like can i just put some plastic tarp over it, its just a seed still but im scared about the future?
tsk tsk tsk, so can just cover it up with cloth and stuff, that might work, main winter temeperatures can be around -15 and -20, -10@@TropicalGardenGuy
Hi Jeff, I live in Fremont, CA and I recently bought a 4 ft tall alphonso mango plant from the internet. Over this summer, it has grown beautiful 6" shoots and it's doing well in a pot Now I am getting ready for the winter. I am planning to repot it in a bigger container and bring it inside during the night to protect it from cold temperatures, do you think this is a good idea? Any tips / tricks you would recommend at this point?
My son wants a mango tree so badly. I have a good spot for one and I might consider one of those PVC boxes lined with Christmas lights until it gets strong enough to battle the elements just covered with a clothe. They are such cool looking trees and so worth it too! Zone 9b here, so I am hopeful!
I'm in San Francisco. We don't get frost. What we also don't get is the warm days that you get. Average temperature here is 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Mostly foggy, and overcast. I guess that's why nobody in SF has a tropical orchard.
Yes , Mangos would do fin in the citiy’s z10 winters. The problem might be the chilly summer temps. If you do plant one, close to a warm wall is the way to go
