hi, Manhattan Transfer fans, could someone tell me whether or not this is true? I lived in NYC when this group first got started and saw the original group at Max's. I always heard that Bette Midler signed the group to a "personal contract," which may have led to their signing with Atlantic, which was her label.

A friend of mine worked for the band so I got to see these guys in LA about 30 years ago!! They were fuck'en hot!!! The voices are a little faltering now but still fun!!! Thanks guys!!!
