Too bad for the video that I could improve 'much, but it 's the best performance that I have found! In my opinion much better than the vinyl and CD versions, I feel a bit 'cold
This group was one of a kind, and Tim Hauser was the undisputed driving force behind this group, notwithstanding the tremendous talent of the other members, past and present. The voices, the stage presence, the ability to draw in the audience - they had it all. Thank God for memories, recorded music and videos like this.
Of the many songs I loved of MT growing up in my youth into adulthood, THIS tune was always my favorite and the one that I could ALWAYS depend on to lift my spirits when I needed a great song to do that!!! I’ve also ALWAYS loved to watch them sing live (and ty, by the way for uploading this video. Much appreciated!) because they always looked as if they were having fun doing what they loved, singing. Although I think Janis is a beautiful cutie....I, and like thousands of other fans, was always a sucker for Cheryl’s beauty and emotions during their performances. She DEF’ is one of my inspirations in the way I perform while singing. I used to be shy and ashamed to show my expressive self while on stage. But, watching her not giving a rip what anyone thinks (in my eyes, anyway 😁) as she gives every ounce of her soul into her song... it really pushed me early on to not hold back when I felt my spirit moved during a song. And I owe her HUGE mahalo for that gift of inspiration. Again... thank you much for uploading a sweet performance of the awesome harmonies of the MT!!!🤙🏾🤙🏾❤️🎼🎵🎶 Aloha!
This is probably my favorite tune of theirs, which is saying a lot, 'cause I love so much of what they did throughout their career. Incredibly inspiring music... Thank you, Manhattan Transfer!!
If Manhattan Transfer had recorded only one song, this is the one song I would have wished that they had recorded. This live version is fantastic. They seem to be enjoying singing this song as much as I enjoy listening to it. I can't believe it's been as many years as its been since this song was first released. But in spite of the years it is still as vibrant and fresh to me as it was on day one. Just love everything about this song.
Tight magnificent Harmonies every time, great Stage Presence..just heard this on IHeart, had to see it performed..Thanks to the person who Posted it..🙂🎼🎶
I saw the Manhattan Transfer here in Rome. They will remain forever in my heart with this song. Thanks TonyReset for posting this very high-quality video.
RIP Tim; MHT will go on . Janis & Cheryls vocals in this drive me wild with musical passion. Alan P. may have to develop his baritone in the meantime before Tim can be replaced. Still the most awesome jazz quartet in history. Last time I saw them live was as the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver CO 1981 (> the Twilight zone album). Burned into my heart forever!
God, I love this. I finally got to see the group a few months before Tim passed away. This tune was the highest mark in a phenomenal set. Brings tears to my eyes today.
I remember seeing them at Irvine Meadows on this tour. They were wearing all white and this could be from that show as far as I can remember. Thanks for bringing back an amazing memory!
This is one of my favorites. We had tickets to see them in the 90s at Purdue’s Elliot Hall but it was cancelled. I was really looking forward to the concert.
There was a popular Brazilian performer that did a cover of Soul Food To Go in Portuguese . I don't remember the name of the singer , but he made me go back and search for Manhattan Transfer's version . Their song and the MTV video that accompanied it will always remain in my mind - good vibrations !
Well, Actually this band made a cover of "Sina" from the Brazilian singer Djavan, who released the original song in 1982 whilst this band recorded the cover in 1987. Good vibrations 4all
Yeah, I noticed that too. Besides that they often interrupt their vocal lines at the end of every phrase which isn´t good for the groove either. Anyway - still one of my fav groups with one of their great tracks.
