I think Vedanta speaks of the final truth , which is beyond maya and beyond experience (time space and object/cause) . These drugs expand conciosuness no doubt but they give experiences which Vedanta says is nice, and relatively true. In fact as relatively true as this experience we having right now. Some weird, some profound, some beautiful some terrifying. But Vedanta says these are all dreams. The truth, the final truth is beyond the experiences of this or higher conciousnesses. That's why they say it cannot be described or imagined, only pointed to and "known" through self realization. Authentic realization that comes as a flash of intuition that leaves zero doubt. Not mere book knowledge and some level of belief. And when this realization comes then even vedanta itself drops away as it too was just a pointer. The ayahuasca and shrooms also drop away as they were also pointers to higher conciousness which showed you there is something else beyond this mundane existence. And it acknowledges this in all humility as it itself is part of Maya, the grand illusion, the grand dream, the grand journey of journeys from the lowest to the Gods and back again through time and space. The truth is more awesome than this (I believe), but is dismissed as it is beyond thought and our conditioned limited minds dont find this appealing. Hence we remain trapped in this maya for eons until we are ready to wake up.
