Here in Vegas, we start monsoon season without a rain. I miss driving with the rain .Be safe

The problem is the areas next to the rivers, in all cities here, are squatter areas (no one in their right mind would buy property next to a river) and they use the rivers as a sewer and a trash bin. Only way to clean this up is to get rid of the squatters, not very probable though. Stay safe.

There are areas in Metro Manila that should not have had residential areas at all. Couple that with poor drainage and indiscriminate garbage dumping and what you have is nature plus man made disaster. Unfortunately it will happen time and again.

Two very important reasons to have a car here in the Philippines; the rain is one, but more important is safety. For every kilometer on a motorcycle, you faced a 28 times higher chance of dying in an accident compared to one kilometer in a car. Also add in the chance of being robbed being much higher, it becomes an easier choice. I rode motorbikes about 8 years here with no issues, but many friends were not so lucky. You really handicap yourself here if you do not have the option of a car. So many more options open if you use a car here in the Philippines.

Careful when driving there and stay away from puddles where you can as you do not know if these are surface water or a bloody big holes under the water.
