Tbh, I still love Manny. Even after all the drug tests, he was still fun to watch. I mean, how do you make a catch while running into a wall, high five a fan. And still have time to throw a guy out at first. Unbelievable. Great series Matt👍

I loved that. I was actually at Manny's 500th homerun game, and I got a sweet picture of it; considering the mid-00s digital camera I had on me. He is still probably my second favorite player of all-time. The dude made baseball fun in an era where stripping the game of personality was common.

I’ll never forget meeting Manny in a coffee shop in Brooklyn NY before a Youth Service game. He was already a legend throughout High School baseball so everyone knew who he was...I got to play against him and was witness to an amazing hitting display. Manny that day was 6 for 6 with 3 HRs and 8 RBI’s.

Regardless of what you think of him, baseball is in desperate need of players like Manny. A generational talent, funny, great for spectators and players alike and LOVED by most of the fans. It's crazy how non-baseball fans will always be like "oh ya Manny Ramirez of course", but don't know current players. Like my sisters have never watched a baseball game, but both know Manny as a household name - yet had no idea who Mike Trout is. No matter what you think of him (I love the guy) we need more Manny's for the good of the sport.

I am sick of the baseball purest who argue against Manny being in the HOF. He was one of the best during his peak and he was the type of player you wanted to have on your team...a draw. Not many players are draws, but Manny was.

This 3-part series was excellent in every measure. You weaved Manny's story into all the context and made it educational and entertaining. Well researched, well-edited, and just fascinating. You deftly explain some of baseball’s lesser know stats to non-baseball people, at the same time providing a circumspect objective view on the controversy of his legacy and mistakes. Well done.

He was taking a steroid they werent able to test for yet, the "other" drug was to help him cycle off it. He 100% was knowingly taking steroids, there is no ambiguity surrounding this situation.

Right! Dude tries making the lamest of excuses for him.
@thickerconstrictor9037
@thickerconstrictor9037 3 года назад
Not necessarily. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that you didn't do steroids he absolutely did, but it might not have been something that they don't test for. In fact I would almost guarantee that it wasn't something that they do not test for because. The anti estrogen drugs that he got caught with, Is something that you take for a post cycle after you finished your steroid cycle. And the steroid that you take that requires the anti estrogen, is testosterone. He had to have been taking testosterone for him to need to take the drug that they caught him with. And There's no type of testosterone that is not able to be tested for. There is, however, a testosterone called TNT or test no Ester that is out of your system very very quickly. But it's still able to be tested for it's just out of your system very very quickly. But either way I could care less if he took them or not. 70 to 80% of the guys in the major leagues during that time were taking steroids. In fact the best baseball ever was was during the steroid era. It saved it from the brink of collapse after the strike. And I would be 100% in favor of them ending testing and just letting them do whatever they want. Steroids made baseball better and should be allowed
@dukedematteo1995
@dukedematteo1995 3 года назад
No, he finished a cycle of steroids and was taking the drug to up his natural testosterone again..... He did steroids and like the guy said it was at a time when consequences of doing so were clear so HOF voters have little sympathy.

Manny Ramirez was one of my heroes growing up. Him, Albert Pujols, and Larry Walker inspired me to be an outfielder when I started playing baseball myself, he was on the cover of the first baseball game I played (mvp 2005 I think) and we shared the same birthday. I’m truly happy to see that I’m not the only one that can still appreciate him for the player and person he was and still is.
