"The only thing that works in an antique house is the owner!" We live in a 1730 Sea Captain Home and now old pipes are giving us problems as well. Always something!!!
@carolweaver3269
@carolweaver3269 2 года назад
This is so true. We own a large brick, older home and we will always find problems. The older we get and not having money as we are now senior citizens, so we are wondering if we are the ones to carry on? BUT if you are able it certainly is worth it in any way you can A.ways will be found, if meant to be. We will know we gave our best either way. We are only the present keepers of the gem If people can help.they certainly will. A rare trophy some have and the larger the home the bigger the gem, the harder it is to continue on it.seems.

Things are a catastrophe when n it happens to us . We are the ones who are losing money. Time. And energy. BUT: NEVER think that someone who tries to.look and stay calm. Have had to become that way with traming but to not ruin their health. They have found perhaps that things do normally work out. YES, this is a problem, and maybe bestbto.cancel some futurebebents? Once this is fixed all wiill.be fine. And.prayers it can be fixed quickly. The right professionals like Raymond (when Raumonf calmly says one must do.something, it is vitally important even if it is said calmly) With patreons help. Your work and money .and and Amy extra gifts we can pray. It will come back as soon as professionals can get this fixed. I am wishing I had money to.help!! But am positive some would be happy and able to give for at least this direvn eeed,! Everyone needs water and we do not understand unless we have not.had it

As an engineer I recommend a vertical tank at the pump station that would hold at least one days worth of water. A check valve to prevent back flow as well.

We have a state monitored small water system at our business in Oregon. They wanted us to chlorinate as it had some harmless bacteria. We did not want to do this and we put in a UV system..which the state was skeptical of, but we proved it is adequate disinfection. Been using it for 8 years now..and no chemicals to drink or handle.

To put this crisis into perspective, my MONTHLY water bill used to be calculated at around 1,300 gallons. Twenty thousand liters is almost 5,300 gallons! And California is in another multi-year drought! For a farm, losing that amount of water is critical. You have my sympathies and my most hopeful wishes for an easy, not-too-expensive repair! Bless you all for all you do!

I guess I’ve never thought about where these huge estates got their water, I’ve always thought England was so wet. It is unclear from your video where the water in the underground concrete bunkers comes from. In the early 1900’s, a lot of homes were built with cisterns in the basement that were accessible from the kitchen or a washroom. Water from the roof flowed through gutters into the cistern. If it was full, a valve could close it off. The water could be used for washing or cleaning. A friend recently renovated a house and found one of these systems. Unprocessed water like this can be used for a lot of purposes.
@tildarosander1339
@tildarosander1339 2 года назад
So the crack showing up is the same reason that you shouldn’t leave a pool (specially concrete) empty. The pressure from the outside dirt has to be counteracted by the pressure form the water inside. And time I guess. When there isn’t any water coming in it’s hard to keep the reservoir full. The drought is affecting every part of life.

Gotta love Raymond- he is so calm... which I can understand as he is not the owner and incurring the costs- but having someone who will not over react and wind you up over an issue can be good medicine while sorting it out.

Renovations are always there and never end. There are special rainwater channels around our palace and we have a solid melioration in the park. Rainwater can also be collected and used inside the building thanks to a special pump system. It is also worth investing in cogeneration, in CHP, with a home solar and wind farm. At the beginning of the 20th century, the central heating using biomass was working efficiently in our palace, so today we have no problem adjusting to the standards.

Nothing worse than getting up in the morning to brush your teeth and there's no water! When you rely on an aquifer, deep well, pumping system, and purification system you never know what can happen (I know we've lived it but we didn't have a village or cafe or business to run from our place). Sorry for your troubles and the drought in Europe. Your drone footage showed the very dry and parched land. Sad for the trees and plants that are usually so lush and green in England.

There's not a whole lot you can do when you're not getting sufficient rainfall - drought is a problem in a majority of countries around the globe. We're suffering here in the U.S., with no water in some places and too much water in others - and no way to reasonably control it unless we learn how to control the weather. And that's just a pipe dream. I am SO sorry for your problems. I have a sweet spot in my heart for the historical homes of England. I hope you are able to find a solution to the water problems, but really, unless one is a multi-billionaire, how are you to install a brand new water system and even with a new water system, where is the water to come from when the climate is changing and is much more unpredictable than it used to be. Good luck, and best wishes from this fan in MIlwaukee, Wisconsin USA.
@kathyolney4083

Our governments do understand weather control and have used it from the 60's which makes one really question why there is too much water in some places and not enough in others.

I live on the north coast in the Pacific Northwest. Although we have had some dryer summers because of low snow pack.( i can walk to the mountains or the straits from my house) we have never been in danger of no water. It scares me when I see the drought and flooding all over the US because I know with our antiquated water infrastructure and climate change it is only a matter of a short amount of time. We no longer water our grass and give our gardens a minimal amount of water. So much of our country’s smaller communities have extremely old water systems in need of repair.

Build it as if building a swimming pool, but with a structural cover/concrete floor. I bet that old cistern doesn’t have a re-bar structure….or it’s failed from rusting away over the past 100 years. Question for Luke: Is it worth it? When I was a young man I had a very small home, literally 4 room box with a laundry and bath built onto the back leaning porch. You might call it a cottage at best. It cost less than $400 a month, it took 20 minutes to clean and 20 minutes to yard work. It had constant upkeep needs but they were minimal size and cost. I worked hard to get into a much more expensive, 3 level, 3 bath, 6 br home and now wish I had a simple cottage again. Perhaps you should build a small cottage on the property and keep the house as a touring museum or something?
