This game is all the damn things i have been dreaming of!!! I would love just to have also the opportunity to "name" or "select" a character, not a main one, just a single simple bot walking around, and being able to put it individually to work or to fight, idk sort of like a combination of Age of empires and Cities Skylines, but with the posibility as well to move it into the map or integrate him into a batallion. And if not selecting him to do anything specific, than the bot can go back to do his own activities. OMG THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!! AMAZING!! i would love it!

I just really hope you can upgrade your main building to a castle keep at some point

This will genuinely be my first game I’d play on early release!! And I can’t wait to reenact my home Central European village! Hope it will have a smooth launch. I love a passion project, and this could be the next Kingdom Come Deliverence!

Really good list and different to other content Ive seen on the game! I think it will appeal to the Total War fan despite the differences you outlined. I mean we are trying to stay calm but we are super hyped haha

I've been a Civ player for years and agree that single player experience is what I enjoy, and a big reason that I will be getting Manor Lords. the question about gunpowder is an interesting one, does that mean that there could be a technology evolution system like dawn of man, where you start to unlock better items as you progress, moving from the stone age to the iron age, start with spears and bows and end up with muskets etc...

Will there be ways to claim land other than by diplomacy? Will we be able to raid and pillage i.e. Vikings?

This looks really interesting. However I have to confess I am more excited by the building aspect rather than the battles. Will there be a "passive" mode available where you can just plan and build up your town without worrying about being attacked?

The very first game I may buy as early asccess. I am not quite sure, but I totally fall in love with the scenery during the one and only playable demo for everyone. 24,99 EUR would be a great price. But I am still a little bit scared about the fighting and too much micro management.

Definitely not a Total War killer, but its definitely an improved AoE! Love that your soldiers actually get pulled from your population like in Black and White 2 if anyone remembers that game. Super excited and very impressed with the developer. Exanima comes to mind as well when thinking about persevering indie devs

As a Stronghold fan Im very excited about this game if it really will have the feature to build castle walls, towers, keeps, and more intrincate traps and defensive measures to defend your village, the possibility of realistic sieges with attrition battles and more its a wet dream already

8:28 - Yea, why not add guns to a late 1300s medieval environment. And while we are at it, throw in some lasers as well. Some people, really. And yes, before someone with fresh wikipedia knowledge butts in saying "France used cannons in 1340s already and hussites used hand guns (píšťaly) in 1420s", that were major battles of either a rich state or a major faction that could afford them. Which is not the scope of this game that takes place in 1380s somewhere in central-to-south Germany split into many small semi-independent states.

Early access can be greatly abused or be greatly used. BG3 was in early access for years. I attribute the games success to the devs listening to the players. Now it’s one of the best games ever made. I would love for the dev to have that opportunity with a very promising start.

Super excited for the game but my question would be: if i gain more territory would it reflect on my current map? Because i cannot see the point of battles if i cannot take the opponent fortress

When you go into the view to walk the town on the ground level, will it still be third person or will you be able to switch to first person and not have to see the lord in the center of the screen?

I am currently playing a game that has been in early access for a few years and is now officially out (5 months). It does feel like an early access game though :/ What I have heard from this game (Manor Lord) and it's features is already giving me the idea that it will already be better at the start of it's early access than the game I am playing.

First of all, I never got to play the demo when it was available. In other words, I have not played a second of this game. So this comment is not about my opinion about gameplay etc. From what I've seen, parts of it definitely reminds me of Total War, so I dunno why anyone would be "triggered" by such a comment. I dont remember which youtube channel said so, maybe it was this, maybe it was another, but someone said that sure it's early access, but it's published by a legit publisher (hooded games, or something like that iirc?). I dont see this being a guarantee that 1. this game will be great. 2. this game will ever get..actually..finished. Most of the games that is under the hooded horse's umbrella, are in fact EA games, and majority of them have been so for quite some time. So if ANYTHING, I dont feel confident about this title being a finished product anytime soon. I do not have anything against this game(ML). It looks like it could be tons of fun, and I'm cautiously 'hyped' for it, not gonna lie. But we should all have learned by now, well a few things actually. 1. Early Access is a gamble. There's NO guarantee whatsoever that an EA title will ever, EEEEEVER be finished. 2. People gotta stop overhyping upcoming games that they honestly have NO idea if it will be great or not. Unless YOU personally develop the game, you do not KNOW that this will be great and worth the money. And see point 1 again. Again, not dissing the game, nor the dev, nor the publisher. But when are some people gonna learn to have PATIENCE, and stop overhyping games that's FAR... faaaaaar af, from being a complete game? But the game is released soon, someone chimes. Yes, again in Early Access. That is NOT equal to be a full game. 3 years from today, the game will probably STILL not be completed. I'm not saying "do not buy". Heck do whatever you want, it's YOUR money. But for the love of common sense, dial down your expectations, for your OWN sake. Do I really need to list the tens, or hundreds of games in the last FEW years, that's been extremely hyped, to just turn out to be borderline to fiasco? Starfield? Redfall? Forspoken? Fallout 76? Anthem? Oh, or how about The Day Before, remember that one? Overhyped, most wishlisted game on steam. Anyone that spent TEN seconds researching the game prior to launch, would've known it would be more or less a scam. So do you get my point? Stop the effing over hyping. It just makes "you" (general, no one specific) look clueless and dumb. And people suffer a heavy affliction called FOMO. Look that game looks cool, everyone is hyping it up, so it must be one heck of a game, lets throw 30..70 dollars at it. Just to - in many cases - be completely disappointed or even scammed. These are even games made by "proper" big budget companies, not published by a publisher that has most of "their" games still in Early Access. I'm just saying, this constant over hyping of upcoming games is one reason we get sh-tty buggy games nowadays. Because people have more money than braincells. They get burned, they go online and threaten and whine, half a year later they're back at pre-ordering and overhyping the next game - just to once again be burned. That is an indication that some people are not..very smart. I am personally excited for this game, but once I learned it's just gonna be an Early Access title, any optimism I had, quickly took a nosedive. Not saying there aint any good EA titles, there are. But I, and hopefully most of you, know, that there's a buttload of EA titles that never ever get finished. I do pray this will be a good game. But for me personally, I'm not as excited anymore after learning it's only EA. If it was the full game after all this development, I would've been more excited. All that changes once it's available is, that you can throw money at it, an unfinished product that MIGHT not be finished, ever, or for years. So imo, I dont care what the release date is, as it's not the full game. Now if they were to say its out in EA on this and that date, but by the end of the year they at least plan for it to be 1.0, yes, then I might even jump on the EA release. But knowing that its *possible* that we have to wait *years* from now before the game is actually finished. Nah, won't bother with half finished products. (in all fairness, there are full releases that feels halfbaked too, i.e cities skylines 2 etc) Sadly a lot of gamers behave like children. They see something that looks cool, and they just MUST have it. Without knowing sh-t how buggy it might be, how poorly it might perform, how much content is lacking(in case of EA titles) etc etc. There's zero common sense and brain cells at work there. All this leads to is, thousands of dumb people run out and buy a game on day 1, even pre-order games, which then turns out to be a cr-ppy and buggy game. If you're lucky you might get a refund. But all this does, is telling the industry/devs/publishers, that it's OK to release halfbaked games and charge full price, because they can always finish/fix the game with 100 patches later. This is the main reason why we today have SO many both small and big games, that are either broken, or half-baked, because the industry knows people will just buy their half-baked products if you just hype it up a little. Sure this is not really directed at Manor Lords, but in general it has to be included, so I'm not completely off-topic here lol. Point is again, be excited, buy the product, whatever. But at least try to be somewhat smart, use that thing between your shoulders for a change. It's easy to point fingers and blame the devs for releasing games too early, as many AAA titles even are buggy or worse on release. And yes devs/publishers should be held responsible. But in it's foundation, it's actually "we" that are to blame. Again, stop pre-ordering and stop hyping up every new game like it's the new Messiah. If you followed the gaming industry for just ONE year, you should know that not everything is as great as it first seems - usually. In short, be careful, and perhaps DONT buy games on day 1/pre-order, especially EA titles. And dont buy into the whole BS that it's gonna be great because Hooded Horse is publishing it etc etc. 1. It's not HH that's making the game. 2. Most of the games they publish have never even left EA-stage. Make of that what you will, I'm telling you though, like a father to a kid, think, and be careful. Not specifically with Manor Lords, but..in general. There are better games, or things, to throw you money at. But here's hoping MM will be amazing. I really want it to be great. But even though I haven't played the demo, and those that have might say "demo was awesome, not buggy, etc etc" it means literally nothing. As the demo aint the same as the finished/EA product. A game that's smooth in it's demo CAN be a mess in the release version. Just like a buggy demo can be polished and awesome in it's final release build. Then again, this wall of text, will only fall on deaf ears, because most people are already set on the fact that "MM will be awesome, it can't come soon enough, it's GOTY, GOAT, etc etc". Again, that just proves my point..ignorance, clueless, dumb. It's sad to see even grown men(and women) falling victim for hype etc. I'll personally look into this game in the summer at some point, not a chance *I* will jump on the train on release day. I let others bite that bullet - so in a sense, perhaps it's good there's dumb people, they can take the fall, saves me the money potentially. (as I rather donate that money to charity than throwing it at a halfbaked *game* ) May Manor Lord be great, and everyone happy. This was not a comment meant to diss the game, dev, studio, nor this YT-channel, not AT ALL. In fact I actually appreciate this video, it gives some answers and "facts", that I may or may not be able to find myself, but I honestly wont waste time looking up this stuff for a game/product that I'm not deeply interested in anymore.

The AI has never been good in TW. I sincerely hope he can pull off good AI here because if it’s bad it will hurt this game badly, in spite of its city building and strategy focus. I wish he would do a combat play test before launch.

I mean, no one expected the great Sim City lineage to die due to a random Finnish traffic simulation studio, but that's exactly what happened. And maybe the Sims themself will go down that route. So I don't see Manor Lords as a direct competitor to Total War, but if Creative Assembly and especially SEGA doesn't get their shit together, who knows what's going to happen in the end? If battles turn out fine in Manor Lords, who is really going to remain playing Total War? They dumbed down the strategy part of their games so much that any real strategy enthusiast is playing Paradox games now.

I’m interested in seeing an Early Access roadmap, but don’t have any interest in buying into the game while the game is in Early Access. There are a lot of elements that sound good, but would rather wait for a full release. Even if full release is in 2034.
