Well said Chinmayee. I live in the USA for 30 years with strong roots in India. In these years I realize that it will take many many years for the mansoor ali khans of the world to change in India. The “Learned” and the “progressive “ ones belittle women in a thousand subtle and condescending ways and the others are downright crass like MAK. This is not to say that the western world is perfect, far from it, but in India I feel that even the basic awareness of when you cross the line itself is missing. Mansoor is a good example of Indian men being clueless as to where he’s going wrong. Very sad, but I’m glad that someone is saying enough is enough.

With all due respect, let me tell you something. She is a singer and she sings what she's given. She may either choose to sing it or not to, it's up to her. Does it really matter? Let's say there's an actor and he kills someone in the movie- now, is he a killer in real life? Or does it mean he supports killing? Not necessarily. It's just acting, not endorsing, we are all adults enough to understand that. Now, in my very humble opinion, she's been one of the very few people who have the guts to speak up while most of us have been minding just our own business. If we're going to find her opinion analogous to hypocrisy, then nothing in this world makes sense anymore.
