An old site indeed and very interesting. The Hammys in the adjoining field are often at least 100 years before Edward 1 st. That’s all in crop that field though. To think the field had been detected for 30 years and not ploughed properly for the last 15. It features heavily in the domesday book as a wool trading site.
@@AngloCelticMetalDetecting You know as well as I do that a field is never done. Very likely to have been a market. I've got a similar site that sprawls across about 100 acres. The periods don't tend to overlap, so there are multiple hot spots of different areas, ie. All the short crosses in one place, long crosses slightly off that, Tudors off that, upto Stuarts in a completely different area. Worth a hunt around the perimeter👍
