The eyes of the shrimp are also trippy. They can see colors we can't and have an almost spherical field of vision.

They can see like what 12 color spectrum while we only see 3.
@SciFyAuthor
@SciFyAuthor 11 месяцев назад
@@adambump5297 Interestingly, that's actually not the case. While it's true they have something like 12 color cones in their eyes, they mostly see within (or just barely outside of) the color spectrum we can see. But the thing is, where what we see is sent to our brains to be processed, what mantis shrimp see is processed in the eyeballs themselves before being sent to their little brains as an already resolved image. As a result, they don't get color mixtures to the same degree we do. Where we can see colors like yellow, even though our cones are for red, green, and blue, the mantis shrimp can only really see the colors their cones respond to. The whole reason they have so many different cones is to effectively fill in the holes of their vision which we naturally are able to fill in by having our brains process the light. If I recall correctly, the cones they have that see things we can't are the one or two cone types that can process and differentiate between polarized and non-polarized light.

Punches so hard it causes light. So hard it makes cavitation bubbles that cause shock waves. Has thermal vision. Is a complete and utter psycho feared by most things that live near it. I love the mantis shrimp

Mantis shrimp sound like the most "that can't be real" animal. It can punch so fast it can break bone and creates a bubble as hot as the sun and can see 4x as many colors as humans 😂😂 The pistol shrimp is even cooler and crazer!

Love the animation of the shrimp, but I keep getting a guy in my youtube shorts recs that has two mantis shrimps, and they occasionally do punch the glass (bc, like pet snakes, you have to give them live prey). He reacts all "no! don't punch the glass!" but they haven't broken it ... yet.

These shrimp can be placed in aquariums, but they have to be kept in tanks isolated from other shelled fish they like to eat (crabs, clams, etc.). Plenty of private fish owners keep them as pets.

Mantis Shrimp are overall freaky. They are thought to have the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom and have the most complex front-end for any visual system ever discovered. Compared with the three types of photoreceptor cell that humans possess in their eyes, the eyes of a mantis shrimp have between 12 and 16 types of photoreceptor cells. They have EIGHT pairs of legs (the first five pairs are equipped with claws) plus modified legs known as pleopods on their abdomen which are used for swimming. Super unique creatures.

A mantis shrimp's punch is equal to that of a 22 cal. bullet and creates a secondary shockwave from the heat of the initial punch causing its victim to suffer a second concussion essentially
