For years the Brave Wilderness audience has been asking - “Coyote will you ever get punched by a Mantis Shrimp?”
Well, the moment has finally arrived and in this episode, we will try to answer this burning question. But before we get into this entertaining experiment, first… Coyote will put himself into the position of a prey item by comparing the impact force of a hockey puck slap shot to the supposed impact of a mantis shrimp punch.
Things are about to get wild so check out this episode out to see what happens!
A big thank you goes out to Stinger and our friends at the Columbus Blue Jackets for letting Coyote spend time on the ice! IG: @stingercbj and @bluejacketsnhl

They're so intelligent and absolutely beautiful creatures. I'm thinking about getting one when I get my own place and giving the little guy a big tank to have a nice chill life. The one thing I've seen with people that own mantis shrimp, is that they often live in fairly small tanks for their size. I wouldn't want to overwhelm em with such a tiny living space.

I love how it paddles with their little feet in the water, they're actually pretty damn quick like that, at first glance it looks like a lobster until you see its dazzling array of colors, it looks very intrigued in its surrounding and is smart enough to know that you're not a threat, its able to gauge threat levels much more efficiently and no just rely on impulse and thats probably due to its stellar eye sight, apparently ... Humans can only process three channels of colour (red, green and blue), while mantis shrimps perceive 12 channels of colour, and can detect UV (ultra violet) and polarised light so imagine a color you can't even imagine and multiply that by 9, makes me think of someone on acid just running around in a clown costume in the middle of the ocean lol ... its really an incredible species and best of all is you can actually keep them as pets, if i could re incarnate into any animal on the planet in my later life, i'd probably choose to be the mantis shrimp...

Knowing these shrimp can break thick glass with their punches, I am glad Coyote didn't end up losing a finger tip to this very intelligent and adorable cutie! If there is a rematch and he does get punched... God speed, Coyote.

Domesticated Mantis shrimp are very friendly then hu? I love how it just knew the difference between you and the krill, and only really nudged your finger like a little fist bump. He was like "Oh fist bump? Okay human get fist bump *knock* yeaahhh."

Fun fact, the mantis shrimp is actually known to punch so extremely fast, that it destroys the water molecules, to the point where it'll generate heat so extremely hot, that it's contesting the sun's surface

Although, those punches they use probably use up a lot of energy. I’d imagine they avoid using them unless they have to

I didn’t know that the peacock mantis shrimp also had the spear. I thought that there were two types of mantis shrimp, and the one with the spear was less colorful, and more of an ambush predator.

The shrimp is a marvelous specimen to say the least. Not was I was expecting it's first or second response to Coyote's fingers. Would love to own a peacock mantis shrimp someday. Maybe if Coyote put a small snail or clam between his fingers and not allowing it to pull it from his grip, maybe the shrimp will do a predatory punch.

Coyote has definitely been in full goalie pads before. NOBODY skates that well the first time they are in gear. Maybe Coyote could play for…..the Coyotes. Thank you, Thank you. I’ll be here all week

Wait what? 50 mph is 73 fps...a .22LR bullet on avg has a mizzle velocity of 1200 fps which is equal to 818 mph

*To all of you who came to see the Shrimp and not all this 8+ minutes of advertising, skip to **8:00** and move on from that.* The shrimp punch can destroy hardened shells of crustaceans, it can definitely easily break the skin and if given enough time and effort; most likely able to break the bone aswell. P.S I would of not have ever expected Brave Wilderness to start advertising predatorily monetized mobile games..
