Good Information, but How to add "Mac Machines" into ABM using Apple Configurator ?..
@magnet6332
@magnet6332 Год назад
Hello, to add Mac computer ( MacBook or iMac) you need to install Apple Configurator on your iPhone ( Yes on iPhone) - sign in using ABM admin account - scan the Mac during set up assistance . This process only works on Mac has T2 chip or Apple silicon Follow this article: support.apple.com/guide/apple-configurator/welcome/ios

Awesome video worked great for the first 4 "deployments". however I ran into an issue at the end of day where i got an error message Configurator could not perfor the requested action because "iPhone" is not booted. However it is in the middle of compeleting the enrollment (Apple logo + progressbar on the screen). I tried restoring the iphone on the configurator but i was wondering if you might have any ideas? Next step i'm going to try is factory resetting on itunes. and yes everything up-to-date- and restarted/shutdown rebooted. let me know thanks! and great video

Thank you! I haven’t heard of that error but I found this fix : I ended up calling Apple Support on this one. What ended up fixing it for me was changing the assigned enrollment profile for the device. Then I switched it back to what I wanted. After that, I was able to erase/reset the device and I was able to enroll it. discussions-cn-prz.apple.com/en/thread/253815539 Hope this helps 😊

How to add a mac to Apple business Manager using Apple Configurator
@magnet6332
@magnet6332 2 года назад
At the moment Apple configurator 2 only for iOS devices ( iPads, iPhone, iPods and Apple TV) but soon Apple will release Apple configurator 2 app to be installed on iPhone with iOS 15 then you be able to add Mac using the iPhone. Stay tuned for Apple updates and releases for iOS 15. You won’t be able to add older Mac, when it’s released they will specify macs eligibility.

Thank you for the video! So easy to follow and understand! But I have a question if you may. I already have an MDM configured with my ABM, once these steps are done, will it get updated in the MDM automatically? If not, can I enter the MDM information in the steps you filled as test to get this result? I’d really appreciate your response.
@magnet6332
@magnet6332 2 года назад
Answers: - 1st question: They won't be auto assigned, when you use Apple configurator 2, you have to assign them manual to your MDM . Auto assignment only works with Auto enrollment. - 2nd Question: Yes you can add your MDM to Apple configurator 2 but you have to get the right link from your MDM.

Hello. After I follow all the steps and the device reboots after completing the preparing phase, on the device itself I go through language, connect to wifi, activating your device, and then am presented with the "Remote Management" screen which has our organizations information on it. I click next and the loading icon just spins and spins for about 3 minutes, and then I get the following error message: "The configuration for your iPad could not be downloaded from {our company's name}. The request timed out." Any suggestions?
@benjaminstieber4217
@benjaminstieber4217 2 года назад
I was able to figure it out for my setup. After the preparing phase is complete and the device has started back up, I did NOT immediately start going through the initial setup steps. I first went to my ABM and changed the MDM server from "Apple Configurator", to my actual MDM service. Then after waiting a couple minutes, I went back to my device and started going through the initial setup prompts. This time, when it got to the "Remote Management" phase, it went through just fine and started to apply configurations from my MDM service. Maybe this is common knowledge, or just something wonky with my setup cause I'm not seeing anyone else with this particular problem lol. But hopefully this helps someone else having the same issue. Thanks for the video! Great instructions.

Yes, login to Apple Business Manager then click on devices - select the device and unassigne it from MDM. Then restore the device to factory setting ( Not reset all content and settings) to remove the management profile. 😊

Thank you for that video! Is it possible to give a special name to the device in the list of Apple Business Manager? Right now all of our devices are just called "iPhone 11" (+ serial number). I can't see any option within Apple Business Manager. When chnging the name of the device right before the "prepare" step within Apple Configurator 2, the name is being reset to "iPhone" after the prepare step in Apple Configurator and in Apple Business Manager, the name is again just "iPhone 11". When changing the name again in Apple configurator, it remembers the new name, but it is not being updated in pple Business Manager. Do you have any advice?
@magnet6332
@magnet6332 3 года назад
Apple Business Manager (ABM) only deal with serial numbers. ABM not a management software so you won't be able to customize it. You'll use your MDM to customize the device name and all other setting and configurations.. Hope this answer your question :)

@magnet6332
@magnet6332 2 года назад
After assigning the device to your MDM, you have to check your MDM and be sure it can see the device and profile assigned to it BEFORE setting up the device. Some MDMs push profiles within 3-4 minutes and some take sometimes. Preparing the device Apple configurator 2 will assign profile to the device but as soon as you assign the device to your MDM and your MDM push profile to the device that will overwrite and delete Apple configurator profile. I recommend to restore the device to factory setting, then be sure your MDM can see the device and profile assigned then run setup. If you're getting your company remote management profile but getting error then try different wifi/ hotspot or different profile. Hope that will help! :)

I am trying to deploy certain apps for some specific group of students in my school. Would this work for me in that situation?
@magnet6332
@magnet6332 2 года назад
You can purchase apps using Apple School manager, however, Apple school manager doesn't communicate with students or devices, so you have to have Mobile device manager(MDM) linked to Apple School manager then use your MDM to assign those apps to students or devices. Or use Apple configurator 2 to manual push apps to devices.

@@magnet6332 Actually, it opened up another issue lol. I added the apps from the apple configurator but, once there in their ipad it asks me to sign in with the apple id that downloaded the apps. @magnet6332
@magnet6332 2 года назад
@@kevinruperto808 when you create Apple ID using applied.com this meant to be used by consumers not school or business, in another way considers for one user with recommendations for 10 devices. You can create managed Apple ID using apple school manager just remember that managed Apple ID can’t use the App Store or iTunes assuming you are using MDM to push the apps and updates. In your case you need another Apple ID.
