They're not cheap, but another great set of compact lenses for Fujifilm are the pancakes from Voigtlander. Absolutely incredible, and they're chipped so they communicate with the camera allowing for EXIF data and automatic zoom in when focusing (if desired). Thanks for the review though, I've been looking for a super compact 50mm for Fuji and this seems like a good option.
No. I don’t mind. Im actually enjoying the slower pace to focus. Sometimes missing and getting a little blur of people. I’m currently using two Minolta SR lens, the 50 f2 and 28 f2.8 with an adapter. Which of course adds more length to the lenses.
I sort of just starting out and of course, is tight on budget; this lens in particular really appeals to me as I want something compact but it turns out I much prefer shooting longer focal length. As of now I'm just shooting with my Fuji XC15-45mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens, and I find plenty of occasions where having only 1/5.6 aperture at my preferred focal length limited me (it's mostly low light-ish situations). Plus I won't mind having some manual focus practice, considering my Fujifilm X-T100 doesn't exactly have a super fast autofocus in the first place.
I’m really split between buying this lens and the 35mm f1.8 af. I already use the 25mm f2 on an XE-2, so happy with mf and af, just looking for something to compliment the 25mm. Any recommendations?
I think it's time for me to get one of these little lenses. I have an old 55mm helios, which is amazing, but it's huge and heavy and I have to use an adaptor. Thank you Steven, your video helped me a lot! Greetings from italy :)
My focus peaking works great. I set my color to red because I found that you can see that the best. I don’t know if that is the problem that is happening to you, but maybe give it a shot and change the color
I use the 25/2 and 50/2 on my Olympus and absoluteley love them. Dirt cheap for the image quality and I love the completely manual handling. And a quite good size for the M43 format on top.! What do you want more? Have fun with your 50/2!
I had the same adjustment to aperture ring location. I like the design on this lens line for keeping it out of the way and the hand finds the focus ring pretty automatically. The overall usability feels like it was designed by someone who knows how lenses are held.
Yeah, it was definitely a little bit awkward at first having the aperture ring in front just because all other lenses i have ever owned were the exact opposite but it’s not a big deal at all and I got used to it extremely fast.
This lens is waaaay too sharp than i expected. I mean.. my 16-55 didn't win it at any aperture from center to corner from my brick wall tests and also landscape shoots.
