Leighton Aspell became the first jockey since Brian Fletcher on Red Rum to win back-to-back Grand Nationals as he scored on Many Clouds for trainer Oliver Sherwood and 79-year-old owner Trevor Hemmings, previously successful with Hedgehunter and Ballabriggs.
Aspell, who had won in 2014 aboard Pineau De Re, steered his 25-1 shot to the front three fences from home and then held off the challenge of Saint Are to win by a length and three-quarters. Monbeg Dude finished third and Alvarado came in fourth. AP McCoy, on his final ride in the race, finished fifth on Shutthefrontdoor.
