Many have said that 

man this was Christopher Judge's first big role and in the very pilot he just fucking nailed the character of Teal'c. This scene alone was full of emotions that were built up beautifully from the earlier parts of the episode. One of the best castings of all television.

Let's all notice the fact that Teal'c removed his armor so he can rip off his Symbiot as a suicidal act after the slaughter, seppuku style. He was a dead Jaffa standing until O'Neill gave him a hand out and a reason to live on.

It's crazy how Christopher Judge barely says anything the whole episode but develops a meaningful relationship with Jack through meaningful warrior looks.

The last time I saw this, Teal'c thought he was still the First Prime of Apophis, but the latter has just died.

Teal'c did the unimaginable in his society. He openly defied his god,.the one who made his "First Prime" and gave him a home, a mate and allowed him a child. He became sho'va (traitor) and lost everything. Teal'c had seen countless world crushed under the heel of the Jaffa and their false gods the Goa'uld. And O'Neal knowing the horrors the Jaffa were forced to do, still asked a Jaffa to return with him. Some of the best writing and acting in a scifi show. And because of that one act of both defiance and trust, whole planets and Jaffa were freed. Whole civilizations saved. I wished there had been a sort of "followup", say 200 years later. A galaxy united, the Tau'ri beginning their ascension to their former glory (Descendents of the Ancients) and a galaxy who denizens can live in peace and freedom. At least for now. But now with a unified galaxy in support of them, the Tau'ri might even fulfill the predictions of the former Asgard and rise to become even more advanced than the original 4 Great Races.

I wonder why they redubbed tealc's "i have no where to go" in later cuts of this episode? This version is so much better.

They came so far. It wasnt until they broke away from the original movie and let the actors do their own thing... Well, Judge and Shanks anyways. Tapping just stayed the same for 12ish seasons and RDA kinda did whatever right from the start.
