@cucumbermey you must not know anything about Mao or her skating. She is a World Champion. The only thing this young lady has not won is the Olympics. The same happens to be the case for her Korean rival. This clean performance demonstrates how ready Mao is to go for gold. Her disastrous grand prix was when she fully grew up and is coming back strong!
When she skates you can't even hear her blades touching the ice,she is so light! No skaters are like her, only the great Michelle Kwan had the same kind of touching.
Thank you for uploading. This movie made it clear that if Mao's performance is perfect, no one can beat her. Also she can improve her free program further. I look forward to the 4CC.
Painfully and desperately beautiful with a stunning juxtaposition of sultry darkness and gentle tenderness. Acrobatic triple axles and contortionist poses with the most awe inspiring spiral sequence and one handed Biellmann spin of all-time. Peek-a-boo mask like poses and moonwalk-like slides in the step sequences with high leg kicks and stagger steps leading into the final spin sequence when Mao cups her black glove hand to her chest, lifts her leg all the way up behind her back, turns her head up to the sky, and opens her mouth as if asking the Almighty for a drink from the River of Life before her last ounce of vitality runs dry. Beautiful Mao looks so tender and lands her jumps so soft but there's a fierce toughness that seethes beneath the surface like fragrant flowers that grow on a plush, green mountain before it bulges into a volcano that suddenly erupts. Here, the pressure is never quite released. It builds and builds in simmering desperation as the tragic heroine portrays a young victim banging on the lid to her coffin trying in vein to escape, until the last deep, gong of the bell when she looks up to the sky to ask the Almighty why someone so young must face their death knell. So, this sense of fatal entrapment is what spurred Rachmaninoff to compose Prelude in C sharp minor, as a young man staring in horror into the depths of a coffin and imaging that he himself was the one who lay inside, pounding on the lid with all the muscle he could muster to evade the dark creep of fate that was marching his way.
@Everyone who keeps complaining that Mao's scores are inflated: Dude. This is NATIONALS. In every country's nationals there must be at least SOMEONE who's scores are inflated at least a little bit. Anyway, I'd glad Mao won, but in my opinion, it wasn't up to par with her old performances. She seemed to be lacking steam and I'd hate to see her skills deteriorate like this. I hope she does something about it soon.
a display of the old Mao :) I think that lady is Tarasova's assistant. Saw in a recent article that her assistant will stay with Mao when Tarasova is not there. Why were her jumps downgraded?
a lot of people said the judges have given her like 20 marks which shouldn't have and they said they are fake becasue she surpassed 200 marks already third time for the japanese championship. some says that judges purposly gave high marks so that mao could go to olympic..... well, i am a korean and i am a korean who loves mao asada and yuna kim. hope mao can get back to her original standard. hope you enjoy the video..
@sumimimi0 we ll that is not quite true cause if yuna was really the better jumper then mao why, haven't she ever performed a triple axel cause mao is the only women in the world who is not only able to perform it but also the only women in history who ever has performed it.... that in it self says alot about her and her jumping abilities.... she is as strong as a male skater....
Her competitions before this were a mess, but from this one she climbed to the top! After this, only at Olympic... only at Olympic, she made mistakes on jumps. Japanese media made Mao practice on her rest day, so she got tired in FP the next day!
i dunno but her axel was. she had a tendency to twist the body before jumping. let say there is a clock ok? she took on the 9 spot and landed on the 2. which is a bit downgraded. but i think the rest should not be downgraded.
I'm happy she's happier and skating well! This season has been tough for her so I'm THRILLED that she gets a confidence boost right when she needs it. The program itself... I still don't like. The music just doesn't take you anywhere... it's too bland for Mao's brand of light and airiness. She needs something with more punch! Come on TT!
are u saying that supporters can't judge anyone? What an absurd suggestion? if it's wrong that someone got inappropriate scores, and that's obvious from everyone's view, it's for sure that someone gets judgements from anyone.
Tatiana can speak Japaneses but mao can understand english too. her coach before Tatiana is Rafael Arutyunyan and her choreographer is Lori both are foreign and i think Rafael cant speak Japaneses.
not true the judges give all goe and technical judges gives her downgrade doesn't mean she gets ggod goe. yuna kim during gpf, her opening jump, all the judges gave her either 1 or 2 but only that stupid swiss judge gave her downgrade, so her jump was downgraded although all the judges said that there were no problem.
pity her. this score is not accepted by the isu so her free programme is not the world record. she should have done this standard at the rostelecom cup!! then she could have gone to the gpf..
if you look carefully, when she takes off, she twists her body before actually going up to the air. she lands underroated slightly but hope she can fully rotate for 4 continents in korea.
@michellequeen1980 triple triple is not a must in a programme but japan wants 3a to be a must in a programme is is not fair to other skaters. only mao can do that 3a. so it is only fair to mao but not to other scaters. and in torino, yuna was better in fs than mao did. anyways not by opinion. other people find that it is not fair. japan has recently asked isu to accept 3a as a must or 2a not like last time whereby 2a was a must. see what is the result.
look at that PCS scores...again? xD even downgraded at the triple jupms and got GOE?? isn't that funny, lol she looks happy though. I can hardly understand that she deserves that smile.
ah... her jumps, only axel should have been downgraded. she should not get goe for axel and instead, she should have gotten goe for the 3-2 and 2-2. i think.
@whirlpool1988 however, yuna's jump qualities are better than mao but i feel that mao's step sequences are better than yuna., just by jumping axel, doesn't mean is the best. yuna is better in expressions. and her jump has man qualities that is why she is getting goe +2.00 while mao is getting goe + 0.20
it is becasue koreans hate japanese japanese hate koreans. japanese also bashes yuna.hope this stops. japan should stop making fake videos and hate yuna and koreans should stop saying bad things about yuna. after the 36 years of japan ruling korea, koreans hate japanese.

Mao will never learn under this circumstances, and so do their supporters! She thinks her jumps are the best, and it shows through her arrogant interviews! Does she really believe her jumps are great as Japanese media and her fans disguisely speak? Seriously, those jumps are worse than the top junior level skaters, except for her I-will-keep-trying triple axels. In fact, I do hope she does well and gets fully rewarded in the Olympics, but not with those cheated jumps!
