i watched the movie last night at a screening in New York and think it is one of the best films i have seen in years. Well directed tells a real story and is a credit to Bruce Beresford and all involved with the movie.
Apart from being inspirational, this film also provides a positive note hinting the country was indeed in a dramatic political transition from the nightmarish version of Li's parents/family being treated as 'counter-revolutionaries' and executed in a field (as in Li’s dream) to a red-carpet treatment in reality (as in the reunion). What a stark contrast!!!
