Really good review. I've watched hours and hours of maono review last night and none of them tested the shock mount and honestly described the thin-metal stand. I hope I can find more budget mic in your channel. Subscribed in any case.

It’s great to see a review with you actually using it. The majority of tech reviews on RU-vid are utterly worthless. They unbox use their own recording audio equipment and don’t demonstrate how the microphone would actually work in real life. So kudos to you for being logical, and I don’t mean that in a condescending way. It’s juts tech RU-vidrs for the most part aren’t relatable to the average viewer.
Yes. It's the MKS 4 - en-uk.sennheiser.com/mks-4 - The Maono looks like a bargain compared to the Sennheiser. Sure, there are other reasons why mics like the MK 8 are so expensive but it's a *huge* price difference! Crazy.
For the price of this microphone kit, like you said you could just get it for the microphone, but for about the same price you could always get a Samsung Q2U (it can be both XLR and USB) but I definitely do like this kit. I've had it for about a day or two now and for a bare-bones beginner at my age (17) it's pretty good.
I bought an xlr mic before but I had no idea how to set it up since apparently I didn’t have the right cords even though I bought what the guide said? I’m thinking of getting a USB mic do you know if the kit includes everything needed to set it up?
well to be fair at such a cheap price for a full kit, I personally don't think anyone should complain about the stand or accessories, the mic obviously sounds great for such a low price, additional accessories for that price I'd say we should be thankful and appreciative it came in the box, they are mics that don't sound as good or similar for more money and without the accessories, that's just my personal thoughts
Shock mount exposed. Don't worry about the cable. The data is digitalized before put on that wire. As long as the juncture is shocked a lot, there shouldn't be any loss of bits. (Most of us transfer video from camera device through USB. Ever worried about the quality of transmission? No cause there is nothing significant to worry about like handling analog signals)
Ok so right now I have to choose between this product set and the blue yeti mic set. Both are meant to be used with ny laptop and will be using audacity and adobe audition, what do you think would be best to invest in to get my vo career back in action on a budget?

Excellent review! So will be purchasing the unit in a few days. I agree with you concerning the stand. However, can you recommend a better quality stand for the unit? I am a DJ and do most of my recordings and broadcast sessions in the studio at home. Currently using a Samson mic with a desktop stand. Looking forward to your response. Cheers!
No reason why not. If you you record your mic track via the audio interface on the mic and then run it through an Autotune plugin it would work. It’s not the neatest way of working though.

I bought this same microphone and set it up with the logo facing me with the pop filter. Recording with the windows voice recorder some singing. I am a baritone with a louder singing voice and it is just not sounding good. Sounds like your testing around 4:15. Should I just return the thing?
any idea how to turn down gain and etc? i bought this mic and having trouble finding a program to change audio levels with it and stop picking up all the background noise..
They’re all pretty much the same at this price. Good quality when used within their limitations. A lot of people love the Fifine K669. It definitely sounds as good as this but doesn’t come with the stand.
@@tdcattech I See. I done a Little searching, and aparently Tracer Studio Pro is in similar price but a Little better, because of materials quality, mostly on stand and cabel.
Hi TD. Very good and helpful review. The microphone came across as a bit quiet on my tablet, but that might be my volume settings! The limited dynamic range is unfortunate but for the price I think it would make a good 'emergency' backup. What do you use as your standard mic and stand? BobUK.
Thanks Bob. The audio test section is fairly quiet as I left everything exactly as it was out of the microphone to show e.g. drop in levels when off-axis etc. The rest of the review would be bumped up a bit if it was quiet. If the beginning of the video sounds quiet, it's definitely your tablet as that would be peaking at around -1dbFS :-D The standard mic I use is a Sennheiser MK 8 (that's the one I was pulling around in the review section). As for the stand, I don't remember which one it was. I have used the stand for about 10 years and it cost about £60 so not too much.
@@tdcattech Yeah its very quiet on my system too, but that might be windows 10 driver issue. Equalizer apo can fix the problem, you can tune your voice and boost up to 20db with almost no noise, or up to 30 with small noise. I highly reccommend.
For some reason mine is still not working. when I record it with the Microphone it makes like this voice changer sound when I hear the recording. It’s not a voice changer because I can hear myself but then it sounds like someone else has a voice changer on the recordings. I even checked if I have a voice changer and If I did I uninstalled the voice changers. Please help!!
The clamp is a bit feeble but it opens out fairly wide so should work on any solid and sturdy surface without too much trouble. Definitely avoid glass! 🙂 The mic would work great for gameplay but a headset is always better as it allows freedom of movement and wouldn’t get in your way. It would sound way better than many headsets though as, in my experience, they are notoriously bad unless you opt for pro gear.

Wherein the Behringer C-1U is available at about 60$, the fifine k669 is available at about 40$ and the fifine k670 is avaiable at about 80$. I am terribly confused between these 3 and the Maono AU-A04. Can you please help me suggest which one should I go for withing these 4 products! Thanks.

Hmmm the clipping can be done with a limiter in OBS perhaps. The sound for the price ...sounds good ...sounds better than my Blue Snowball. I'd might give it a try.
i have this microphone and it pics up a lot of background noise and the audio isn't that clear its loud enough but not clear it picks up everything it doesn't even noise cancel do you have a solution to this problem did anyone have a problem like this
Was the audio test recorder directly plugged into the PC or with the USB plugged into the audio interface? I am considering to buy it, but I don't have an audio interface, so does it make the hissing sound?
Has anyone experienced latency problems while using a Maono AU-A04 mic with Adobe Audition ? I'm talking about delay when recording. Like for example, you record your voice to the project's tempo, but the actual recordings have a slight delay and dont match up with the rest of the clips in the project (there's a delay). Is there a way to fix a problem like this?
Im looking for a budget mic, i'm just gaming nothing too serious for recording videos or anything. Will this get in my way of playing games? Do you have any suggestions for a USB mic for my situation? I'm looking around and these seems like a good deal.
While headsets have a distinct sound (never quite as clear as a condenser mic), they are undoubtedly the best option for playing games. I reckon this would get in the way a little.

@@tdcattech Oh it’s that the mic doesn’t have a headphone jack. I had purchased a set of Maono headphones that I have been trying to utilize with the Maono mic, but it doesn’t have a headphone jack. Even plugging the headphones in directly to my laptop alongside the usb I can’t hear myself at all with the mic, so I was assuming there was an interface or something necessary for it to work. Not sure what to do otherwise.😅
IMO Idle Noise test is missing. That's a decision making thing to many. And also Since this doesn't have a built in Gain control knob, what are we losing and probability against Maono PM 421 kind of cousin. I also insist ratings for Podcasts, Online training, Singing, Smalll group music recording etc., This categorisation helps novices like us take a decision. Just a few thoughts...
I usually have dogs barking sometimes roughly 7 feet away with thin walls do you think this mic won’t pick that up I’m looking for one that won’t really pick it up only my voice. Any recommendations if this one isn’t worth budget is roughly $100
