Seriously, why is even modifying the whole map so easy. this game never ceases to amaze me!

I remember when I was a kid I was a "fanatic" of Rome and Medieval 2 modding, so those steps bring me back a lot of memories!

I made a Barbarian Campaign not so long ago, custom fictional map, with all barbarian factions, really fun to make your own maps, might go this as well for the remaster at some point.

Don't mind me but I am adding this into my tutorials playlists to do later Thomas. This is going to a big one.

Ahoy! I haven't found any evidence of random eruptions as suggested in the linked blogpost but you can set off the eruptions in Descr_events.txt (in the same folder as Descr_strat) Data, world, maps, campaign, imperial campaign. From my experiments only one volcano will go off on any one turn sadly... Perhaps more investigating is needed.

Hello, recently I attempted to mod Medieval II Total War and create more regions in Scandinavia. This failed horribly. The only assistance was the 16 year old comments on the guide I was using. And they weren't very helpful. Needless to say, my plan fell through and I eventually gave up on it. I find your videos highly informative and I would love to see a region creation episode of this or Medieval Total War. It is nice to have a more modern guide on this modding, and a good one with that! Thank you!

Can you make a video for how to create, our own region on the map, i used to follow one guide on total war forums, step by step, but the game was crashing me every time.

I would love for a guide on how to change faction icons, campaign map flags and battle flags. I'm hoping to modify the Roman faction in Lanjane's Hellenistic Legacy from a red SPQR icon, flag and banner set to the original purple so I can have my purple Romans and not have to worry about the civil war bullshit since it's the only Roman faction. The problem is, I have absolutely NO idea where to even begin. :(

Unfortunately it doesn't work this way on the remastered version for some reason, you can change textures like before but not everything, mountain textures stay the way they are and when adding landmass it keeps the same structure as the original map.

I wanted to know how to modify the buildings that are implemented in the settlements on the map.

*Yeah, Mod video! Thomas, is there any way to make it next to impossible for some factions to have Navy? Like, why would Gauls or Germans or Numidians even have that option? They didn't have historically, I don't remember any fleet battles between Roman Empire and them. And in the game Mediterranean sea is PACKED with navies and ships, like traffic jam in Takovska street in Belgrade! Ships and navy should somehow be super hard to get for those factions... unit stats must be sorted, also - Hannibal almost destroyed Rome with Mercenaries (which Romans even outnumbered!) and limited budget... something like that in RTW is literally IMPOSSIBLE - even with unlimited finances (money cheat)... Or maybe you think you could do it, outHannibal the Hannibal, Thomas?*

Is the world size limited? If you make the 'maps' that you edit bigger do the world map also become bigger or is this 'size' max size?

It is no possible to "increase" the map?

Does this transfer over to medieval 2?

How to add a new city tho?

I have been trying to do this on the mod Europa Barbarorum just to change forest to hills, but everytime I run it the map won't change. I always delete the map.rwm file before running. Any insights? Thanks

What application do you use to use the map editor? I've tried using the one from the blog posts but it doesnt work. I try loading the files and doesnt even load, just crashes and shuts down immediately.

Can you tell us how to add provinces?
