Good video . I have a 1905 map of my county that I reference for metal detecting and was looking for cheap lamination. Found it thanks to you. Off to Walmart.
Thanks for posting this. Here's an added tip: Once you've peeled off the backing, tape the contact paper to the tabletop (just a bit of tape on each corner should do it) in order to keep it from sliding around while trying to position the map on it.
This was amazingly helpful! On my way to Walmart! :) School will buy me a laminator in a month, but have a large project I need to finish for this Sunday, this is perfect! 💗 Thank you! (Roman's Road Lesson)
I also bought the contact paper after I see this youtube. And I just received last night and I try it! Wow I feel thankful to you showing me this type to laminated. Give you 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 Thanks you
Thanks for the idea. Wanted to laminate some mountain bike trail maps, this should be faster since I don't need a laminator, and it should be a bit more flexible.
In the Marines we'd use packing tape. Called in "ghetto laminating". How does this material hold up to folds and just general thrashing? Will it tolerate being pulled in and out of pockets repeatedly?
Great, thanks for the reply and the instruction. Semper Fi! Edit: Yeah, the tape is tedious and presents a lot of potential entry points for water. Can't wait to try this out.
I tried his method today and yes, dry erase worked perfectly! Also, did sharpie with simply green and magic eraser the laminated poster board are clean and clear ready to use again! :-)
@@HeavensKitchen777Thank you. I want to do a couple of folding maps this week and I was remembering the store-bought laminated map I had years back. That laminate was thick, so the publisher had all the panels separated by @1/10". Doing that by hand...
im sorry. you would laugh if you saw my video equipment. but I doubt I said anything too important. the main thing is inexpensive contact paper from walmart laminates just fine...
The idea is great and your demo spoke for itself. I use a smart phone to film everything and I realized that if I turned my head to far away from the camera, no one could hear me, LOL.
I understand. It took me a long time to even get a cell phone and didn't consider a smart phone until I had a job that required it (and provided it). I never did get around to buying a digital camera - I went directly form cheap 35 mm to a smart phone :)
ive got a brick phone. and I am perversely proud of it. but its getting long in the tooth and I will have to upgrade soon. thinking about getting a tablet that can work as a phone....
@@shelby_sinister Not sure how wet erase markers work on this material, but I used to use that regularly on more hard laminated sheets. They don't rub off by accident as easily. I would test it before marking up a map though.
