Ruth thanks again for a phenomenal video!! I also have questions, how can we build it so we can drill down from state to zip code for instance? thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your video, I got UAE map, it was big help the link you've shard, is there is any chance to get Saudi Arabia map, we have branches there and I need to use it in my dashboard, or if there is any advise to make it, so we an share it as well to the library, Thanks!
Thank you for the great intro to shape maps. I tried to convert a .gml map to .topojson, but the visualisation needs .json and it did not work to change the format directly. Do you know if there a good way to convert .gml or .topojson to the correct format?
@@CurbalEN I found mygeodata.cloud/converter/gml-to-topojson and mapshaper.org/ that combined can create the nessesary conversion. But it seems to be some configuration issues with the map I'm using making it unusable in Power BI. I will post an update if I figure it out.
I found the issue: The "transform": "scale": "translate" numbers need to be adjusted in the .Json file to make the visualisation work. It seems PowerBI uses a different standard for these dimentions than the map I was using as a source.
I want to show the name of the cities on my shape map like usual map like this :html.cita.illinois.edu/text/map/images/ex1.gif. when i add title on tooltips it just show them when click or set mouse pointer on the part of the map.
Thank you very much for the video... i had requirement to have drill down from states to their cities, is it possible with shape map? and if possible how to get JSON file for it
Hi Pavan, yes it is posible just add cities under states and you are good to go! In the description box you will find David’s github. If he doesn’t have the map you need, you will have to find it on the web. /Ruth
Amazing what can be achieved. A few years ago extremely costly software needed plus expensive programmer time required to produce something similar to this standard.
+Cloud Hound Totally agree, it is absolutely amazing. Not only is it easy to do, but it is also a powerful visualization. Tons of insights if the data quality is high! Huge thanks to the power bi team! 🎉 I have two more videos on geo mapping to get high quality data and correct visualizations, stay tuned!! /Ruth
