I think because they have always been an entry to mid level product in my opinion. Even their flagship snares are on par with the mid level snare from better brands like Tama or Pearl. Dont get me wrong i used to own a few Mapex as well, i dont hate the product i actually like it. I think its great as an option if you are tight on budget.
@@bijikedelaiThere is nothing entry or mid level to what Mapex produces when it comes to their pro lines. They outclass many companies and come in significantly cheaper.
I own the first, original iterations of the Mapex Russ Miller (Versatus), Chris Adler (Warbird), and Matt Halpern (Wraith) snares. Outstanding instruments. The Mapex of today, IMHO, is often too quickly overlooked because of quality control issues 10+ years ago. They make outstanding instruments (just look and listen to this review) at competitive prices compared to their peers. No, I don't work for Mapex.
