*SHE MADE AN ANALYSIS OF DURIANS TAKES PICTURES AND LOGS IT LIKE A SCIENTIST* she puts in her mouth and you can see her brain working by her eyes recording all the data of the durian. No wonders she becomes expert in such short while. It's just crazy.
The "Hampo" durian you ate was actually called "Kampung Durian" which are basically unclassified "breeds" of durian, it can come with all kind of flavour, it can be really bad or even better than Musang King.
some of kampung durian can had a good taste like bitter and tingling in you tongue, this kind of durian is tree at least >30 years. my orchard got a durian tree had 30+ years and having this taste as well, other didn't had this kind of taste. btw i should said that those 'kampung durian(village durian) mostly wasn't register in moa(Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-based Industry) for those registered, for the latest one is d204, later should be had more type of durian.
@@Dexter-jc3rz idk about this "khoon poh" term but durian kampung is pretty normal and sold everywhere, how u never heard of it is beyond me...most kampung folks who plant it hence where the name came from, just plant whatever durian seed they can get so sometime you get white flesh and sometime yellow to golden. here in my place the durian seller will open the durian kampung a bit to see what kind of flesh it have before selling it to us.
malaysia tourism should sponsor whole bucket of musang king for this adorable durian lover couple, they even do homeworks and notes on durian!! how cute...
you can refer to what @Dexter said, it is not 'kampung' durian, it is Kun Poh(坤宝) durian from penang. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DjelaM7WcEE.html
Kmpung means village...basically everyone can breed it at any places ..old people back then used widely planted it in rural areas..basic durian gred ..."people's" durian
"Kampung durian is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes it's really bad. Sometimes it's really bland.” ~ Forrest Gump, Durian connoisseur
wow this is very true actually, you explained it nicely, cuz durian kampung taste is actually random its like every different village have their own taste of durian kampung you know 😂
I know what you feel, as from the last time both of you in hong kong, searching for the "one" durian, i'm glad you came back to Malaysia. Feel so happy for both of you. Welcome to Malaysia.
First time I see a foreigner crying after eating a durian.. you are officially “Hantu durian”!!!! Welcome to the durian lover club. Once a durian lover forever you will be 😂
Haahahaha... Luckily I only craving for the 'dalit'(not sure what it call in Peninsular Malaysia) or small wild durian... It got bright orange color and soooooooo suit with my test bud..

@@IZZUDDINIZZU46 ya ikr.. It should be called the greedy durian.. Because only greedy people love that durian bcz they dun have to share it with anyone 😂
D24 or Kampung Durian was king years ago before Musang King was found. It has taste as good as Musang King if not the best. However one down site of D24 is consistency. It could not retain the taste or texture consistency just like Musang King. Some fruits of D24 is creamy and sweet but some other have different texture, even if they come from the same tree. But to some (many Malaysians in fact), D24 remain the best even when Musang King rules the world. There is another variety called River King or Temerloh Durian. Never tasted it but to some, it has the potential to replace Musang King. By the way, Musang King was registered in Kelantan (Kuala Krai or Gua Musang, i think). The "mother" or "induk" in Malay, tree is sadly dead already but people managed to bring all the branches/breed all over Malaysia. Intelligence says that Thailand managed to grab that Musang King breed to Thailand. Expect Musang King to be found in Thailand in 3-4 years' time (really sad to hear that, it's like trying to smuggle wagyu cow to China. This year's season though, Udang Merah or Red Prawn took over the Musang King's crown (well, at least to some hehe). Udang Merah was registered in Kulim but was made popular by Penang durian growers. In the end, Malaysia is very lucky because even if we think these durians are hybrid etc the fact that these durian types are still in their originality. All kind of tastes, textures and complexities make durian the ultimate fruit only us in South East Asia are so lucky to have. Centuries ago it's spice trade, now it's durian trade. Even if we grow all of Semenanjung with Musang King, we still could not be able to supply the need for Musang King for China market.
1. You came all the from HK, to experience the best of Durian in Malaysia 2. Natives or locals here tend to ignore the fact in 1 durian, the taste can also vary from one section to another section 3. Hope that you will find more delicious durians while you both are here!
SS2 is a durian heaven but i still like penang's balik pulau durians like the red prawn durians... yummy durians.... hope you had a wonderful durian experience ichang...😊😊
Came across your channel this afternoon and felt blessed to know how accessible i could get durians when they're in season. Also, I'm enjoying some good MUSAN KING AS I am watching your video 😊
@@serce1686 its up to you. the expensive durian r musang king n black thorn. youll be spending quite money on those. but if you wanna eat till youre full you should definitely try the durian kampung 'village durian', its the cheapest n even though its the basic durian believe me its taste crazy good! *atleast for me. n yeah you should also try durian dalit its my favourite, its a small durian with orangey yellowey fruit inside, my all time fav durian 👍👍👍 hope you enjoy ur durian experience when you come to malaysia. im from sabah btw. bye2 😁
It's "Kampung" Durian, not Hampo. Kampung (village) durian is a term used for generic, non-categorised durians. It doesn't mean that it's inferior, in fact, some kampung durian are truly unique and more delicious than your D24s, Musang Kings, etc. It's good to see iChang indulge in a durian buffet, all-you-can-eat for less than USD10!
I remember eating Durian Kampung from Batu Kurau, Perak and in that particular batch I still cant forget the taste. It exploded in my mouth n taste much better than all D24 and Musang King i ever had! But it's hard to tell when are u gonna get lucky coz generally they are just meh...but the good ones will make u remember it forever! It's like winning a lottery.
if i were u i would take the picture of the whole durian, so that i remember the shape, skin color, size & thorns. it doesnt work every time but that's a trick a durian expert told me. 😅
There is actually many u can go for, tekka, Udang merah, D11, many more...lolx Or Pay a visit to Raub just like about to 2 hours to get to see the farm fresh 1.
Hi, iChang. I saw a lot of viewers said "Hampo" is kampung durian. Kampung and Khun Poh might sound similar. Based on the writing, it is 坤宝 Khun Poh durian D164. The durian D164 was the winner of durian competition in the year 1991, it has a high viscosity and bitterness after taste.
Wow, I have never come across anyone who get so emotional when eating Durian (and writing notes as well)...haha. But I'm so happy for you both to be here savouring some of the best durian Malaysia has to offer. Please keep the videos coming!!
I've had only a single seed of musang king in my entire life. And i can still remember the taste and texture until now. the taste is so out of this world
I fell in love with mangosteen after trying it 😌😌 lucky they have it here in Australia but fruit here just doesn't taste as good as fresh from overseas 😞
Welcome to Malaysia, hope u enjoy traveling to my country and i am really proud and happy to see more tourist like u guys get interested to explore much more about our Malaysian food and culture. I also would like to correct and share some knowledge regarding the "sleeping cat" part in that durian. In Bahasa Melayu translated as "kucing tidur" (kucing-cat, tidur-sleep) it is actually refer to the 1 and only big piece inside each room of the durian not fresh as u just interpret. So if there is 2 or more pieces found in each room then its not sleeping cat.😊 Hope my sharing can be useful for u and excite your interest to explore more about this beautiful country.
saya cadangkan u mula makan jenis durian yang rasanya ringan/mild macam D13 dan IOI. kemudian kalau dah ok cuba pula makan D24, Tekka, Udang Merah dan akhir sekali Musang King. sebab MK rasa dia kuat. ada rasa pahit manis berkrim dan pekat. Tekka sedap. semua orang suka.
I like your attitute towards Durian, I can feel your sincererity, every bite is full of happiness and appreciation. You are actually having a Durian Pilgrimage - a level higher than durian adventure ! ドリアンの巡礼、ドリアンの冒険よりも高いレベル!
It's kampung lol just local breed from local village. Yeah, actually D24 is pretty nice too. Before this famous musang king, everybody looks for D24 LOL For eg in Singapore it used to be D24 ice cream now is Musang King hahaha!
Welcome back Malaysia🤗 so touching when you back Hong Kong still looking for Malaysian food, even though im Malaysian i have not idea to search and remarks note book for durian 🤗 once again thank you and always wwlcome both of you 🎉🎉🤗
Welcome Back to Malaysia iChang n partner ... so happy to see u here again, during the main durian season, July-August every year ... n SS2 is the birthplace of durian buffett stalls n selling many varieties of durians ... i hope u will find many wonderful types of durians to try, to taste n to enjoy. Arigato Gozaimasu for sharing your love for Durians 🙏🏼❤️🇯🇵🇲🇾❤️🙏🏼
Welcome back to Malaysia for a great durian feast....iChang. Hope you can eat and try all types of durians. Oh...please do check before flying back as HK airport is closed if i am not mistaken. Safe trip.
You guys are so wonderful! Im addicted with your vlog. Please enjoy Malaysia like your second home. Appreciate you guys love durian as we do as Malaysian... Please do come after Covid19 dissappear. You guys are most welcome
Taking notes while having durian, so pro. Then must try to have durian with hot white rice, is my childhood dish which really make your heart feel warm.
'Kampung' = Village/Hometown. The types varies from a lot of different shapes, size, taste and colour. Some in my orchard are bumblebee yellow in colour, some are orange and some are red in colour. Taste are very different. Native durians
I hear it smells very pungent. Its beautiful watching her devour the many varieties and not make a face of discontent but Love for the fruit. I want to try it, but I doubt I can find it in the desert of America? 🤔 😋
Indio Sage I think it’s better if you find one from south east Asia. South east Asia is known for durian and other exotic fruits like rambutan. But it’s just my recommendation
One day, when you visit Sout East Asia, you can try fresh durians there. There are some durian shipped to America, but as i heard, they are often unfresh and may even taste bad. Unfresh ones will smell bad too.
I hope you can go to south east asia country one day (preferably Malaysia, because Im biased) and taste fresh durian. Durian that has been exported wont taste the same. The smell will be bad too (in my opinion).
I love the way you refer to the different pods as different “rooms.” Like, “It’s more sweet in this room...” “...this room it’s more bitter...” You’re very charming and fun to watch. 😊
TBH local people prefer D24 more because price is cheap and delicious. Hopefully this video doesn't affect the market price after this since Durian Queen iChang approves D24 lol.
nice to see tears for durian XD my heart melted to see someone that loves durian that much. btw, a lot of people don't peel the skin from the seed with their teeth when they eat durian. theres an edible layer of skin before the seed layer.
U can reject the durian before eat if not good. And you can touch the flesh first to see if it soft or hard... If not good just ask for a new one...they will replace it for free until you satisfy.. This is standard of practise in SS2.. Dnt be shy..
I just came back from Penang 2 weeks ago.. I had my feast of durians 🤤 I tried the black thorn but.. Hmm.. I think I prefer durian that is more bitter like XO and Sudan.. We ate 12 durians that day.. 8 XO, 2 big Musang King and 2 Black Thorn. And the day before we ate 2 XO, 1 Chocolate (I think it's called Chocolate hahah), 2 Sudan, 1 Butter. And after the trip my nose bleed LOL
never heard of Sudan durian. probably Sultan? 😅 btw, to avoid nose bleeding @ body overheat, i suggest u drink water 2 or 3x from durian husk after u finished. it helps to cool your body down. sounds ridiculous but it actually works. the more u drink the better.
Have u tried tekka durian aka musang queen? I would recommend this, it cheaper than musang king, cost between 25.00 to 30.00 per kilo. Ive tried it and never get enough of it.. The fruit bitterness about 70%, sweetness at 30%. I just loved it after first try.. And they are very hard to find.
